This car brings back memories to me! We once had a 2001 Jetta TDI! I have no idea how many miles (We lived in IL at the time) we did with it, but overall a nice car!
So far I’ve just gotta change all my hoses other then that the car is fine. I can see how automatics have issues but that isn’t the case people are ROUGH on them you have to be *GENTLE*
I just purchased an 04 Jetta from a dealer. Car is super clean, 1 owner. It has been starting just fine but this morning i went to start it and it wouldn’t. Second go it did but it puttered for a couple seconds. Could this be because i didnt hold the key long enough? Or do i have to compress the brake when starting? Otherwise awesome car couldn’t be more happy with it
DabTHC yea. Depress the brake dumbass. You drive an automatic this shit can’t be any easier. Depress brake (and clutch if you got one) to start any car
@@oFailBoat No, but I followed most of my maintenance schedule like always getting oil changes and changing the water pump and timing belt when recommended. It left me sit one time on year 13 for a fuel pump...but it's older now. Cost me $468 to replace that at a shop. It's right under the back seat, so if you are handy, might be able to do it
Nicole Lane the guy told me the previous owner changed the timing belt but he doesn’t know if water pump was changed. He bought it at 100k and now I’m buying it as 133k he barely drove it I’m guessing so I got lucky he wanted 1.600 but I got him down to 1350
In my opinion, this is the most attractive generation of the Jetta. I love it.
I agree.

DabTHC but how much did it cost you ?

You have to depress the brake. It should turn on within four seconds of turning the key. If it keeps up, check spark plugs/ignition coils.
Nicole Lane oh shit. I just got my Jetta should I press my brake every time? Like is it healthy for it?
Looks well preserved.
I still have mine with 99,4xx miles on it.
Has it given serious issues? I’m about to buy one tomrorow

Just drove it a few hours ago, car is still going and still fun to drive 😀. I have 2016 VW Tiguan now but I can't let this car go.

Same here.. I liked my Volkswagen Jetta . Out of the 7 yrs. I owned it no major repairs. Only one new car battery and a nearly flat tire.
