In the UK, an electric cordless kettle and a toaster are absolute MUST HAVES - both of these appliances are usually kept on the kitchen tops, rather than being squirelled away, as they are frequently used.
I couldn't help but notice that your home is not a small/space restricted environment. Personally, if I had umpteen kitchen cupboards/drawers, a separate larder, walk-in closets, and a mud room, I could look as efficient. There's a skill to keeping a small home looking neat and well presented, in fact, it's an art form!!

When I was a young Mom, I made cross stitch sampler that said "my house is clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy." 72 years old now and I still live by that creed. I do admit I need to purge a lot of things, especially in my kitchen cabinets. Laundry has always been my favorite household chore. It is very relaxing to me.

I so enjoy your videos. My problem is that I live in a tiny apartment, 490 Sq. Ft, so it is extremely difficult to find ways of organizing. I have one closet in my bedroom for my clothes, and it is not a walk-in closet either. I have to put out of season clothing in storage. It is impossible to keep my kitchen counter clutter free because there is no space for things like my blender. Maybe you have done one, but tips for very small spaces would be nice.

Put bed risers under your bed, and store stuff under there, like out of season clothes. Store extra sheets and blankets between the mattress and box spring. Add shelves a foot from the ceiling anywhere you can, put less used items, books, pantry goods up there. Hide it in opaque bins or baskets. Put hooks and racks on the back of doors.

I lived comfortably in 375 sq feet with two hairless cats lol. Get a loft bed! I got an IKEA one used on Craigslist and LOVED it! I also got a tiny couch from IKEA (back when they were inexpensive). I got a trunk to use as a coffee table/storage container. It helped that I lived in Texas and didn’t need as much winter stuff. Now I live in Florida (even warmer), so I can’t help you with the winter stuff except to say maybe store vertical. I didn’t need to do this, but if you’re allowed to hang simple shelves, you can put a Dollar Tree bin on each shelf. Or you could get a second-hand bookshelf to use for storage. Add a cute curtain from a thrift store to cover the front (affix it to the top of the bookshelf somehow).

It could be useful & reassuring to see you doing these same things in a smaller home or apartment. I do most of the things in this video and they are SUPER helpful. But my home doesn't have a mud room or even a foyer. All entry is from the front door directly into the living room. (There is no access to the back from the street). Great video! I have a tip about the electric toothbrushes, they actually last longer if you don’t constantly have them on the charger. The battery lasts a few weeks before it “beep beeps” at you to charge it. It’s better for the life of the battery inside the toothbrush to not keep it plugged in all the time. And, bonus… there’s two more things you can get off your bathroom counter.

Great tips here. Thanks! But just as an aside, Mom’s are allowed to eat in the living room, and do whatever else they want in their house. It’s their house! They’re the adult, and the children. . . well, they’re not. Yes, be a good example to your kids, but you do not have to explain your behaviors or habits to them, or defend yourself when they call you out. We do need to apologize to our kids when needed, of course. Absolutely! But, let them know that when they’re grownup and in their own homes, they can do whatever they want. (I’m a Mom, teacher, and parenting educator.)

Put your bed on risers, and store stuff under it in bins. Put racks and hooks on the back of doors. Put shelves around rooms a foot from the ceiling, to store less frequently used items, and out of season stuff in bins.

We also live in a small older home. 2 bdr/2 bath about 1100 sq ft. Over the past 6 months I’ve been ruthlessly decluttering. Not organizing just minimizing every nook, cranny, drawer, closet, cabinet, everything. I have donated bags & bags of clothes, household items furniture etc… We now only have what we need, use or love.

Feelin nearly beat down cuz of older age and asthma, I needed to hear that right then. Aging has me doin less chores im purging my items before i get too sick and old to get my house back ip to par. Makes sense to have a routine thanks for showing ur examples of the routine.
