I wish that i could bring Fr. Mark Goring to our church which IS dead. We have a large Church that can seat 500 people with a Sunday 8:00 PM Mass of less then 50 in a very populated area in Long Island City, N.Y. Very Sad and depressing

I was raised Catholic but never really understood or connected with the Lord during my younger years. At the age of 21 I experienced a more personal experience with Jesus and more fully understood what He had accomplished for me at the cross. Honestly, I think the formal liturgy of the mass and it's meaning was lost on me in my youth. At any rate, I have been practicing my faith in a non denominational church for the last 40 years. It has been a good experience, however, I have come to the conclusion that communion is much more than just a symbol of Christ's sacrifice. As I have been looking into this further, I have come to believe that He is truly present in the communion. We only do communion the first Sunday of each month at my church. But I have been taking communion at home almost daily. There's something very meaningful about that. I want you to know father that I truly enjoy listening

This sounded like a wonderful message but then he ended by inviting people to join in a prayer to place their trust in a mere man, even though it is St. Joseph, a holy man, but he is not the savior. Putting one's trust in anyone else but Jesus is making an idol and it is a dangerous and damaging spiritual practice. No one did this in the Bible and believers were not even allowed to bow down before an angel of God. Paul even remonstrated with the Corinthians for merely following certain teachers, including even St. Peter. We must be very careful to keep our spiritual eyes focused on Christ alone. He is the subject of everything that God does. He is never the side show. Jesus is the center of everything God does. This must be true of us also. The Catholic Church has too many unbiblical practices that misslead well intentioned people.

Para mim, esta é uma das mais proveitosas homilias que escutei. 7 razões pelas quais perdemos a alegria, especialmente a parte do deserto, tudo faz parte da jornada e uma pessoa madura na fé não desiste. Caríssimo Fr. Mark Goring, nesse domingo 9 de Janeiro de 2022, aqui no Brasil celebramos o Batismo de Jesus. Os padres da paróquia estão em merecidas férias e veio um diácono celebrar a Palavra, mas a música estava horrível, e o diácono parecia um animador de auditório, pedindo aplausos, falando coisas fora da liturgia. Eu me senti muito mal com aquele espetáculo, e orando a Deus para me orientar sobre isso, encontrei essa sua pregação de 5 anos atrás, e essas " 7 reasons we lose joy " responderam minha oração e me tiraram de um drama de consciência. Eu não posso ter a missa como eu quero, e tudo o que me faz triste é parte da jornada, o importante para mim é que eu realmente tenho essa graça de querer buscar a presença de Deus, não importa pelo que eu tenha que passar. So our loving, almighty God can't think of a better way for us to prove ourselves to him than to allow the Devil to do whatever he pleases for however long he pleases? Thanks God. I resent his sense of entitlement that he feels he can turn his back on us and expect unlimited praise, worship, patience and faith in return.
I was raised Catholic but never really understood or connected with the Lord during my younger years. At the age of 21 I experienced a more personal experience with Jesus and more fully understood what He had accomplished for me at the cross. Honestly, I think the formal liturgy of the mass and it's meaning was lost on me in my youth. At any rate, I have been practicing my faith in a non denominational church for the last 40 years. It has been a good experience, however, I have come to the conclusion that communion is much more than just a symbol of Christ's sacrifice. As I have been looking into this further, I have come to believe that He is truly present in the communion. We only do communion the first Sunday of each month at my church. But I have been taking communion at home almost daily. There's something very meaningful about that. I want you to know father that I truly enjoy listening
A good way to never lose this consolation is to always remember that God loves more than you can imagine, always and forever.

7 reasons for losing the tangible feeling of God:
- when we are doing God’s work we will get kick back from the devil, this results in blessings after.
Recognize the devil. This is typical of one doing the Lord’s work. Doubt fear restlessness etc
- falling into an obvious sin such as gossip, over drinking, you will feel desolations
- subtle sin, laxness in pray time, not putting our whole heart in it, wrong friends, over shopping, this is losing the delight of God
Life is short, we must remain fervent. Lukewarmness and you’ll be spewed from the Lord’s mouth
- God does take us through periods of pruning. Is our faith just a good feeling? He wants deep faith in difficult times. Desert stretches are part of the journey. The Lord is doing a deep work our lives. But always seek his consultation.
- Sometimes it is a special grace of God. The most pleasing prayer is the longing for God. Song of Songs 5:6. The beloved is playing hard to get. Will we turn to lesser things or continue to search for the Lord? Mother Teresa of Calcutta experienced this desolation most of her life. Do not feel sorry for yourself.
- Another reason for losing the tangible experience of God is that God may be telling us to move. If we are not where we are supposed to be he is trying to wake us up to get us to move.
- Our humanity. There is nothing wrong with mourning. There are times when we are broken hearted. God does not want us to fall into a melancholy however. Mourning must end.
God wants us to be filled with his consolation. Direct yourself to the glory gifts: ‘LOVE, JOY, PEACE’ these should be central to our daily lives. Seek these always.

Stop lying to me as far back as I can remember from 5he beginning.
This sounded like a wonderful message but then he ended by inviting people to join in a prayer to place their trust in a mere man, even though it is St. Joseph, a holy man, but he is not the savior. Putting one's trust in anyone else but Jesus is making an idol and it is a dangerous and damaging spiritual practice. No one did this in the Bible and believers were not even allowed to bow down before an angel of God. Paul even remonstrated with the Corinthians for merely following certain teachers, including even St. Peter. We must be very careful to keep our spiritual eyes focused on Christ alone. He is the subject of everything that God does. He is never the side show. Jesus is the center of everything God does. This must be true of us also. The Catholic Church has too many unbiblical practices that misslead well intentioned people.
