Really nice competent-sounding gentleman, no hype, flannel or flummery. As a a British bloke I even tuned out of the US pronunciation of solder! I loved the demo of the single handed two wire grip! Whatever gets it done is the right way! I was not aware of all the different types of flux or what they do, so seeing what they do is really helpful. The hot air solder melting tool was also news to me, thankfully on a Non-DCC railway layout I don’t think I’d ever need one. Brilliant stuff Sir!
What a wonderful video. My 9 year old son & I are new to soldering & this was super helpful. The beginning when you said that you taught yourself was a great example for my son also. Definitely subscribed & we will be back to learn some more.
I loved the video, there is so much useful information and good narration. I like where you added some flux before surface mounting the IC. I will use that tip for sure.
Friend your video was my 1st to watch how to solder and I am a happy viewer...I'm ready to give it a go on customizing frames on hot wheels... thank you 👍
This video is awesome and so informative throughout you dont waste anytime on bs Thank you for teaching me about my newest obsession haha. Now i know the reason my nuts and bolts person isnt sticking together is cause i need flux
Not me at 40 afraid to solder my belt and you said you’ve been doing this since you were 10. My 60watt is just as “dangerous” as the Golden Hot curling irons I’ve been burning my hair with since I was 10 so I guess I’m safe. I confused soldering with welding for some reason 😅 I bought leather gloves and a welders hat 😮🤣🤦🏾♀️
Excellent information here. Thank you. Can you tell me what kind of flux I would need for soldering a polished metal piece? It's so shiny it almost looks like it's Chrome plated. I can't seem to get solder to stick to it with my paste flux.
Very uncomfortable hu? Slow your breathing down close your eyes and invision the mean soldering man licking chicken grease off his fingers. You will immediately feel a happy , this will balance the trauma that most could not have endured. I just want you to know that I'm proud of you little Henrietta. You'll figure it all out someday.
In tinning a wire for a joint. You should never let the solder go under the insulation. Also the joints need to be cleaned with alcohol to prevent corrosion before you seal them. Otherwise it’s a doomed connection.
My turning signal connections are messed up. I have to get a low profile connection to a washer, the amount I need won’t bond. Everything that holds is too much.
Great video. I have a question about the last segment. It looks like you used just a tiny amount of solder and yet you're telling me it went all the way around the shaft and also through the gear onto the other side?
What if you’re not sure what you’re soldering? I have a slide drawer for storing coffee k-cups. I believe it’s made out of metal instead of aluminum, but I’m not sure how to tell. One of the rods on the front end side has pulled apart from the front face (bad original solder job). It doesn’t really effect the drawer performance but it’s annoying flopping around a bit. I hate to throw it out and get another (like friends have suggested) when it should just be an easy fix. I have in my possession a pencil like tip soldering iron, one with a standard flathead screwdriver like tip, and a small torch like at the end of your video. I believe the only solder I have is a package of small Lead-Free Rosin Core Solder. To correctly re-attach the rod (it will stay put touching the front until you move the drawer) are you saying I need to use the torch rather than the electric soldering irons? So far most videos I’ve come across in my search is how to solder electronics versus small household shelves/drawers. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Solder Past has solder powder mixed in with it. I have only used solder paste when soldering surface mount components to PC boards. Flux is only just flux and keeps oxidation to a minimum. Neither will work for soldering aluminum. Aluminum solder exists but its nothing like normal soldering and will take some practice and RUclips watching to be able to do it. Maybe I should do a video on that!
I have some doubts about the genius of the weevil. His editing is not so good. The audio is very inconsistent. sometimes the boring music in the background is pushing its way in to the forefront and is louder than the voice over.
Card index.❤😂 well you must be my age. Must subscribe. 🎉 Oxidization ? Jeeze not one of the 7 videos I watched mentioned this. You should of seen the mess I made last night. Very stupid question I know this because I know mechanics a lot of them Belvedere is he told me that not all metal is built the same pure metal has to be attached to Pure metal you can't attach clean copper to say a metal that is probably like made for commercial use such as leather snaps because that didn't work. When I bought my soldering tool I tried it on a couple of nails 100 years old so most likely pure metal you know no impurities mixed in. It worked so well I thought piece of cake. Nope.
This video is an excellent introduction and deserves more views.
This video is a gem. I'm so glad that I found this. It answered so many questions that I had.

Thank you so much. This helped me, and I hope everyone watching.❤❤

This is just what I needed to help me make better antennas for my ham radio! Thanks! 🇬🇧💐

I’m a pipe fitter but this knowledge is useful for working on my cars and house
Friend your video was my 1st to watch how to solder and I am a happy viewer...I'm ready to give it a go on customizing frames on hot wheels... thank you 👍
A skill I wish I had learned years ago. Thanks
Awesome! I've always wanted to know how to solder!
So glad I could help!
Oh holy algorithm bless this channel
This video is awesome and so informative throughout you dont waste anytime on bs

Great video. Very well done, good commentary and teaching expertise. Thank you.
U covered every aspect and i wud recommend this video

Great video for a beginner! Thanks!
Nice video shot, thanks for sharing it, keep it up :)
Great video, thank you!
I liked just because of "super power". He is an electric ninja!
nice informative video...just want to ask the title of the soothing background music, please...
Thanks for that I learnt a lot

Thank you for this 👍
Good work
"sol-der-ing" with an "l" please 😊 sounds much better. Great show by the way. 👍🏻
Sodder is fine with me. Soddering wooder pipes is fun.
As a beginner, I am very uncomfortable with how close he can get the iron to his fingers.

Good man.
How do you get solder to stick to metal? I only ever have it stick to the iron tip
There are a few vids on the subject. I chose the lesser of 2 weevils.
😂😂😂 that burnt wire shot. Man I keep doing that even without trying 😭🤦♂️🤣🤣

Do you use flex on everything you Solder
My turning signal connections are messed up. I have to get a low profile connection to a washer, the amount I need won’t bond. Everything that holds is too much.

I would not use a heat gun with bear hand though. You're very brave. 😉
Am I the only one that saw a radio shack branded item? 😂

Did you make you're helping hands or you buy it?
What is the difference between solder paste and solder flux? Will the paste work on aluminum wire?
Solder Past has solder powder mixed in with it. I have only used solder paste when soldering surface mount components to PC boards. Flux is only just flux and keeps oxidation to a minimum.

@@TheWeevilGenius thank you 😊
Thank you!
What about Aluminium? 😥
Great thanks.
Good vid, but you need to tone the music down so we can hear you better.
What the flux!!!!😁🍻🍻🍺🍺🍺
Music is destructing us from understanding you
Scared me when you didn’t add flux on the first board
😉
the music dint have to be louder than ur voice good lecture though
Great video, but I gotta tell you, that the music is super duper distracting/annoying
I could not agree more. Great video but for those of us with any kind of hearing problem, it is very difficult to understand what he is saying.
This was great instruction but honestly I stopped watching because the music was too much.
..god that ..music is annoying…
I have some doubts about the genius of the weevil. His editing is not so good. The audio is very inconsistent. sometimes the boring music in the background is pushing its way in to the forefront and is louder than the voice over.
terrible examples
