Larry thanks again for your quality Vids and engagement in the sport! You are a great Ambassador for AXIS. Looking forward to an ART999 vid review from you!! Hint hint 😎
You would have no problems with glide at all, that’s for sure. Depending on your weight you could likely get away with the 999 or even 899 for this. Either way I think the 75cm Ali mast would be best. The carbon mast does get some flex with the 1099 since the span and leverage is so great, something to keep in mind 😎🤙
Great session! I got two questions, maybe you can help me out! First, what's the dimensions and volume of that board? And secondly, where can one purchase those wingnuts? 😊
Hi mate! Cheers! This board is 4’6 x 18 and around 26L And the Wingscrews you can find on Insta here instagram.com/hydrofoil_wingscrews?igshid=Zjc2ZTc4Nzk= 😎🤙
Thanks Nate! 🙏🏻😎 Oh good question, I’d say that the 1099 would get more waves mostly due to the crazy glide. So much glide that you actually have time to rest before you go again 😁👌 I’m pretty light though and I’d probably choose something a little smaller maybe the 999 or 880 to get some manoeuvrability back, the 1099 is a bit of a wrestle for us smaller riders 🤙
Hey mate! I’ve been loving the wingscrews, and although they may technically cause drag, it’s nothing that you notice. Literally feel no difference whatsoever 👌👌
Thanks for this! When you get to ride the 999 would be great to hear your thoughts on how they compare and whether they both have a place in a quiver or if they overlap too much. I've got the 7,8 and 999 but wondering how much more this offers for super light wind winging (I'm 66kg)
Will definitely have an update on this soon. Have you tried the HPS series for light wind winging? I love the 830 and 880, the 880 is particularly great when it’s super light as it has more early lift than the ART wings 👌👌
@@LarryFoiler I bought into Axis for the ARTs so haven't tried any of the HPS line yet, but I do have a 1100cm2 which is similar to the 880 but I need 12 knots average to get that going on a 5m. For super light, I have a big 1750 which has tons of early lift but at the expense of drag, which is a bit of a pain because the breeze gets so patchy when sub 10 knots. I'm wondering if the 1099 has just enough bottom end (more than the 880), to then benefit from the glide and speed once up.
@@solentfoiler5969 ah yes I understand. There is a significant difference in size, it’ll certainly give you more early lift. I have a heavier friend who has also been trying these wings and he noticed a huge difference between the two wings. The 1099 was a huge glider for him, while the 999 performed much more like a surf wing. At your size I’m sure you’d benefit from the extra surface area and span of the 1099 in light conditions
Great riding. Is that the regular Carbon mast? I recently started using AXIS and went with the aluminum. Just didn't want to spend the money on the high modulus. I'm 70kg and have the PNG 1150 and 910. I wing and dockstart. Looking to start prone. Wondering if i would be fine with the regular 760 carbon. sure would love the lighter weight for hauling around and travel. I actually retrofitted up my old moses 72cm carbon to use with my axis stuff. Just worried about losing my fuse if something breaks loose.
Thanks mate yes that’s the regular carbon mast, this setup works even better with the power carbon and high mod masts. Having said that, I’m a lightweight at 64kg and the new masts really come into their own for heavier riders who are using the larger span wings. I actually still occasionally ride the 16mm aluminium masts and they are unreal for us light riders. At your weight, you could probably search for a used regular carbon mast, plenty of people upgrading to the HM at the moment 🤙🤙
@@LarryFoiler Thanks so much for the quick response. Definatly gonna try and find a used regular carbon mast. On another topic. Do your wingfoil bags ship from Australia only? I'm in Canada. Love the adventure series wingboard bag. Just don't think it would arrive in time for my trip if its coming from Australia.
@@mikeb4414 yes Mike we ship plenty to Canada. There are options for express shipping, best is to enter your address at checkout and it will give you cost and timing estimates 🙏🏻😎
You definitely get some feedback thru the mast. I think for this size wing the aluminium mast would reduce that. But I also found that by easing up on the input you can find the sweet spot, and it all just kind of smooths out, it doesn’t require a lot of input at all, looking forward to trying the 999, the 1099 was alot of blade for someone my size 😆😅
Thanks bud! I actually haven't ridden the 1010 so I cant really say. I'd imagine the 1010 will have earlier lift, where the 1099 will have better top speed and more glide. The 1099 would most likely be better for carving too, it would be interesting to hear your comparison if you have the chance to try both :-)
Looking to move back to axis and can’t really get my hands on the axis range for a demo. The ART range has peeked my interest. How is it for turns and how is it’s stability? Do you like it probe foiling? Also sick videos
Hey Mitch, cheers! ☺️ I’ve been working my way through the ART wings for prone, I started to really enjoy the 899, crazy fast with heaps of glide, and yes they turn amazing. Then I discovered the 799 and haven’t been able to stay off it, this one is so nimble for my 64kg and still enough pump to get doubles and triples. The ART wings definitely like to move fast, so if your waves are particularly slow or weak then the HPS or BSC wings would be a better choice 🤙🤙
Always as always my friend, can't wait to tune mine in on micro days , first try had my mast forward and got spat off at our weight and see u running near back of box 🤙😊🌱
Cheers mate! Yes I moved my mast back a lot for this wing, but in general I’m finding that these ART wings have such gentle lift which is a really pleasant surprise 👌🤙
Nice vid, looks like flying forever 🤩 Personnaly, i use the Art 899 a lot for winging and i always get more and more front foot pressure more i accelerate. I tried with different stabs and the 350P is the one with i feel it not as much as the others (370 and 380ha). Top plate already at the full back of tracks... Seems like if the angle of this Art 899 is too much open. Can you share your expérience and what would be your solution to control it? Im 67kg...
Hey there! I have been riding the ART899 a lot this week, I’m similar size to you and I really love it. I have been using the 350 progressive rear with a -1 shim, I would suggest trying that for sure. I don’t feel any issues at I all with front foot pressure, it’s perfectly balanced for me. Another option would be to try a smaller rear like the 325 or 300 😎
Hey @@stevenfloyd5135 ! I’ve been using the 350p for some months now, and since receiving the new front wings I didn’t want to change more than one thing at a time. It’s my golden rule 😆 I felt that keeping the rear wing consistent would give me a better idea about the new front wings. But I feel that yes you are correct, the 300p and 325p should be great options, now that I have those they will be next on my list 👌🙏🏻😎
Well done, good demonstration of the 1099's capability (and yours of course)!
Thanks mate I appreciate your comments! 😎🤙🙏🏻

Ha! Thanks heaps I’m stoked you liked it! I’ve actually been spending some quality time with the 799 and 899 this week, so much to get through 😅😅
I knew you would be as the 799/899 is your much more your cup of tea! Eat Like 5 Big Macs a day for the next 2 weeks then review the 999 🤙🏼
Those wingnut screws are a great idea 🤙🤙
Hey Larry. Nice vid. Have you dock started the 1099 and if so how long have you pumped it over flat water?
great video! I've seen that you have hand adjustable screws for the mast positions! Where did you get those?? thanks!
Thanks Paolo! The screws came from a company called Hydrofoil Wingscrews and they make life so easy on the water! 👌 I recommend for sure 🤩
Would the ART 1099 be a good Downwind Prone Foil Wing? If so what Fuse and Stab would work best fior a Downwinder>

You know you've ruined my life and now I'm obsessed with being able to beach start and pump forever.
