I swear that when EA says ‘We hear you’ all they hear is the trombone sounds when adults talk in peanut specials, meanwhile we have Life By You who I feel like are actively taking notes from every comment
Everytime they say "We hear you" or "We're listening" or they talk about 'transparency' I'm 100% sure they say it to convince themselves as it's clearly not true.
@@Elwaves2925 Here's what happens. Massive complaints, the CEO is informed, he phones the marketing department and tells them to write something to placate the complaints, which is done. The story and the action ends at this point. Don't believe marketing speak for ANY company unless it sets out an action that it actually intends to do. Otherwise it's just words published under instruction. This is classical company behaviour, unless their bottom line is threatened, which doesn't happen with EA because society contains massive numbers of idiots, a disproportionate number of those idiots happen to love life sim, and so will buy any sh*t of a franchise no matter how terrible it is. Why would EA change something that is working perfectly towards their only care - money?
@@fransmith3255 Completely agree and I almost mentioned those same simmers in my own post. They'll defend Sims 4 and EA to the death with quotes like "They'll fix it eventually" and so on. Tell that to the base game and packs that are still awaiting major bug fixes that will never come.
The one time in recent memory I've seen EA get panicky was over the skintone backlash, an update that came after how many years? They only reacted then because big name YT'ers got involved and it was genuinely causing bad press for them, which translates to money. Even the fiasco of Wedding Stories didn't really faze them because they already had people's money.
I think Sims fans are gonna like Paradox as the dev team. This company is known for grand strategy games, not a genre that Simmers usually favor. But the stuf they produce and, equally important, the stuf they publish as been almost universally top quality (and fun).
I already reordered... glad they are taking the extra time.
I think they know that if theyre honest respectful and transparent and dont treat their consumers like theyre stupid or not people that peopke will likely continue to respect them and their project, at least imo

This video really gives me hope for the game. I was extremely hesitant at first, but seeing that they pushed back the early access date, made me feel quite better. I still don’t completely want to trust it because honestly, EA made me almost unable to that lol. The UI being relatively different from TS2/3/4 made it off-putting for me, but that’s a given in this situation. It’s clear that EA needs more competition if they are taking players for granted (in my opinion) and aren’t making enough effort with the current Sims game. It will take some time to get used to, but the current UI of Life By You isn’t too bad.
This isn't EA. EA is a scum company that is notoriously out on their own in terms of company behaviour and how they treat their customers. This is Paradox, who have a pretty good relationship with their customers. I wouldn't trust EA as far as the distance between my remote con and my couch. Paradox is pretty trustable.
I love the improvements, and I am so excited about this game. EA had better shape up, or I just might be out, and I have been playing since Sims, the very first game. Very disappointing as to the way they have slowly dismantled Sims.
Life by You is already knocking it out of the park and we're still a ways away from even early access. The transparency and communication has been absolutely phenomenal; everything I hoped it would be. I already received the refund for my preorder and I will be reordering it. I originally preordered it because I wanted the chance to give feedback and I was holding out hope that they would listen. Now they have PROVED that they are listening, and that they're willing to take the time they need to in order to make it a great game. I'm now more confident in my choice to preorder than I ever was.
When I got my refund it was before I knew that they were refunding us all. I was actually disappointed that they had refunded the pre-order. It was only an additional 6 months to wait after all, but it does shows a level of integrity that EA no longer seems to want to provide us. Let's see when we can start reordering again.
This is why a base game that are packed with a lot of features from the start should be priced reasonably at 59.99, with only a few DLCs
I hope they have horses too in base game. Sadly that's my biggest interest in other life simulations haha.

Your fears are legit. Just look at Sims City. Not to mention countless other games they've taken on and tried to micro-manage and ran into the ground. While other publishers have similar issues or even the same ones, EA at this point is a Meme. Anyone who sees a pic of a gravestone and EA on it would get the reference.

as a """""""hater""""""" (not really, it's just that I'm very critical of this game and people think I'm throwing hate at it) I am very very glad to hear this will get 6 more months in the oven, this game is terribly under-baked to be releasing in early access this year, not just that the September release date would compete with many new releases in the gaming market so they would definitely take a hit on getting attention from players for this early access, but anyways, I'm very very glad this game is getting visual upgrades, I wanna see this game succeed fr, if I didn't I would've just stayed with my mouth shut.
I think life by you is gonna be competitive with the sims franchise it's coming with so much in the base game the sims could never the sims would have no choice but to step up to keep it going and give if life by you come next year stronger good bye EA
I feel like if they continue to listen, they're going to end up like Paralives. Its been 3 years since Paralives was announced, and 2 since any updates that I've seen. Nobody is ever going to be 100% happy.

The new UI is an improvement but I hope the needs will be a toggle display. I don't necessarily need to see their status at all times. Glad that they are listening to their supporters and acting on the information/feedback they gather. I never understood why a company would ignore when their consumers literally tells them what will make them buy their product. Seems like bad business to me. Life By You seems to have their priorities straight.

I'm sorry but I blame people like you. In a video wherein they say they are working on polish for the hair, you complain that the hair needs more polish when they just said they were working on that. You did that EVERY video. This is what early access is for but you in one breath say that and the next say something else needs improvement. Again, that's what early access is for. I would have happily tested/played the game while they were working on these things and they could have extended early access if they needed to, because that's what early access is for. So, yes, I blame you and every single youtuber that doesn't seem to understand what real transparency is.
Hopefully there's an option to change the UI color, I don't mind the layout but damn the purple is kind of a lot, I get it's the visual identity, but I kinda prefer a neutral UI that doesn't distract me while playing
luckily it seems this game will be beyond easy to mod so I imagine that's one of the first mods somebody makes just like sims 4 cas backgrounds/loading screens. I can see it now, "Life By You - UI Color Changer Mod". If we're even luckier, it'll have a color wheel and transparency slider :D

i really like the new UI! i wish it was kept a darker purple color though, i personally have really sensitive eyes and lighter colors make me more prone to getting headaches. a toggle between the lighter purple and darker purple would be nice
Maybe they could even allow us to choose what color we would like OURS to be, meaning change it if we want and decide how bright or how dull we want it for our own games, that would work best for everyone! Because some really bright colors can bother my eyes too, it can also distract me from whatever I am doing in the game sometimes! So being able to choose the colors of the UI would be a great thing to do!

I'd personally enjoy a full black UI I'm sure there will be a way to customize it though, either through mods or officially

I just re-pre-ordered today. I really want this game to be all that the Sims 4 couldn't be. I was ok with the refund because it showed that they didn't want to just take our money and give is (S##T)! I'm ok with how much longer it's going to take but, over the moon with the fact they we have a company that is listening to us and our wants.

You've now got another 6 months to save up but even then, you can always wait until after it's released into early access and see how it's received. People will make videos on it to give you a better idea and at worst it's one more day to wait.

okay so I'm just gonna be THAT person real quick, I get this weird pang of annoyance whenever people talk about Paralives and Life by You, they compare it to the Sims and then immediately go "Okay but I don't wanna bring Sims into this/compare it with sims" and it's like?? What else are we going to compare it with? The Sims has been the only game of its kind for literal DECADES and now suddenly we have TWO VERY DIFFERENT life sim games in development?!?! The sims is the only basis for a life sim we have, but I do really think that EA has to step their pussies up or else they're gonna flop so hard and be steamrolled by these 2 games.

I’m more excited for life by you than anything EA is putting out. It’s amazing when a studio Cares about the game experience and not just about the income.
The only thing I've seen that was a real turn off as far as LBY goes...I don't see their humans (not sure what name they're using) don't move their mouths when they "talk". The conversation bubbles come up, but the characters mouths just stay shut. I don't know why, but I don't like it.
I like the purple vs the black. Makes it easier to see the needs changing vs the opaque black, seemed to blend into the background.
I personally preferred the darker UI, actually. The layout is better now, but I liked it dark
The UI looks so much cleaner and easier to see. Their pushing back early access has really made me respect and trust them. I feel like they will make sure we have a good game at the end and I don't have to wait to watch lots of "let's plays" to know what I'll be getting into. 😅
UI overhaul is much needed but I think that shade of purple needs to be lighter
Given all the other possible customisation, it wouldn't surprise me if the UI was part of that too.

Even if I speak pretty good English, seeing that they are including Italian already makes me so happy! I’m planning on getting a new pc to have a better experience as I’m really looking forward to this game.

I still like my sims 3 and 4 and will not give them up , but life by you look like it will be fun. I like to see a video on you tube when I see a game play done by I think some one who get to test play a new game or pack or ext pack that help me to see if I like it enough to by .

I be honest I WAS looking forward to early access being this year. But after listening to the people/fans. AND THEN makeing the choice to do the early access for Nex year instead, So they can work in the game more, REALLY SHOWS how MUCH this team CARES about the people/fans in terms of what the people/fans WANT and thats to me show this team REALLY DOES CARE about people/fans. And that is GREAT! And thsy is something I think people/ fans MAY/WILL WANT to gravitae to MORE than a game company that does NOT seem to care as much (cough,EA-couph). But yeah you guys get the drift hopefully. But as a GAMER I WOULD go for the game cimpany that ACTUALLY give a darn. Just saying. But over all its GREAT to SEE that kinda of devotion and that kind of understanig from the Paradox techtonic team. So in that, I am GLAD to know that early access will starting NEXR year instead cause that insures my gameinging experience will be good/better. Especially with all the NEW things the team WANT to DO now for the game too. I was glad to hear about all that too.

I was on the fence about buying another simulation game since I already have Sims 4, but the way they're responding to feedback and behaving about the development of their game has made me feel I have more incentive to buy this game eventually. You're right that all companies should be doing this, but most companies you can name off the top of your head are the big brands and corporations that have enough money to not give a shit. EA being one of them, I'm not surprised they gave us the bare minimum of what people ask for. They hear us and see us but they churn out the lowest effort result for what player's want.
You're also right that people won't stick around if they have a rocky start. Sims 4 had a TERRIBLE start and look what happened. A lot of people left or took a long break from it, and that was unfortunately the precedent imo of what the game became - what we have now. A buggy, glitchy, expensive mess. I hate that because I do love the Sims 4, but I know it's not in a good state because EA is too fucking greedy. What they're doing with what we presume to be Sims 5 is also... uh... questionable at /best/. If they do what they seem like they're doing, I'm just going to stick to Sims 4 and possibly Life by You (mainly bc at this point with S4 I've been enough money on it that I feel like as long as I enjoy it, I can't really justify leaving it to rot lol...).
I do hope the company for LbY won't end up similar to EA and such with their practices. I know we like how they are now, but this feels similar to how a lot of companies/games/etc start out. They start out great and everyone adores it, and once they get enough money they stop caring about all that and only think about profit and not player enjoyment. I REALLY hope they don't end up like that and keep this mindset and practice. A lot of gaming companies feel like they've been going to shit in that regard (not just EA). I hope the company behind this game will stick to their guns through the game's run and for any future games they make.
Yep I am so close to being done with the Sims 4 right now. It makes me so sad as someone who’s been playing since the Sims one but it’s just becoming very repetitive and boring to play and I can’t tell the stories I want to tell with the tools I’ve been given. It’s ridiculous how much I rely on mods or gameplay and often times. What makes me load the game is a new mod that’s been released that I’m excited to try out.

Honestly once paralives and life by you comes out I’m most likely going to barley play the sims I will probably play it sometimes simply bc I feel guilty for dumping it since I have invested too much money in it
The only time EA ever listened was for Laundry Day Stuff. Which, I’m sorry I know more people who didn’t want it then did and it’s gotten more and more buggy as more and more packs come out. So I don’t use it anymore for that reason.

I'm kinda disappointed about the fact that they didn't said nothing about bad graphics and textures. Btw i think is kind unfair for you to always compare this game (2024) with the sims 4 that is a game that will be a 10 years (2014) or with project Rene that is so early in development that we literally saw nothing about the gameplay but that seems really interesting.
I think that the two games could an will coexist. The success of one doesn't mean the failure of the other

I get that they want something better than TS4 but we let games shine on their own instead of using them as a way to bring other games down? as for project rene I even saw people calling out the "bad graphics" when it just a prototype. Yeah I’m not a fan of the graphics either. The avatars/characters are unattractive in my opinion. So, I’m looking forward to the gameplay. I can agree with Matt, however, when it comes to comparison. I’m on and off with playing the Sims 4. I usually only play when a new pack or something comes out lol. Long-term playability is definitely an issue with the Sims 4. You can only play rags to riches so many times before it gets dull. Occult gameplay makes it much more lively for my play style. So, I understand why he keeps comparing the games, because other life simulation games that have better gameplay & overall better playability will definitely compete with the Sims. If the other life simulation games coming out have more enjoyable gameplay aspects, I can definitely see myself stopping with the sims entirely. Although, I agree with you, the sims is not going anywhere. It’s just a matter of who their audience will be in the coming years.

Simmers need to stop trying to make life by you a sims game. If you never played cities skyline, then you shouldn’t have nothing to say about life by you. Life by you is a life simulation version of cities skyline, *not* sims.
