Dele deserves a National Honour!!!! A Department of History and or Music should give this guy an award for his strategy and detailed analysis and subtle approach
The love my dad had for I K is out of this world. That man can sing in so many dialect, my dad had the record he made in Hausa, in French for Mobutu seseseko and in itsekiri. He’s the only Nigerian artist who can compose in any language n sing it perfectly well. My Late dad had to burn all his record when I K died in 1996…
Excellent recall of the influential contributions of the llesha hub of Juju Musicians in a bygone era.Folly has secured his place in the Juju Music Hall of Fame with his "Pemperempe" call and response vocal line.Borrowed and widely popularised by KSA
This Mr. FOLLY is a good man and that is why Hod has helped him. He patiently learnt his art and skills showing no haste to move forward. God helped him when the trial and travails of life came that made IK to send him away. His case reflect the opposite of Adedeji who also ran out of Ikesa at 12 yrs but used impatience to destroy himself. Well done Agbaletu with Dele
A great repository of Historical knowledge. He was so exact and detailed. He needs no facts checking. I am so convinced when he mentioned the Hotel in which they once played in my home town ….Okitipupa (Dora Hotel was so renowned back then) at 2:07:56 mark.
The Title of KSA's first recording was simply "Alanu l'oluwa, but on the flip side of his Festac '77 album, he expanded and richly covered C.A Balogun's version of the song with huge melody
Well done Dele and grease to your elbow. You are doing a fantastic job. Keep up the good work. Olorun yo tubo ma ge owo re soke lola ojise nla Muhammed.
Oga, Sir. With humbleness and regard. I want to suggest to YOU in your diligent, curious, enabling and versatile capacity to Pls, extend your worthy service to the churches, where you may know what and what are going on in the churches around just the same good and bad even worse experiences/encounters are being experienced by those so-called Pastors etc from their leaders. Just like K1,the ultimate and Ayanwale saga. Pls, Do us a favour by consulting churches around. Oga, Agbaletu. Kudos to your professionalism, competence and expertise acumen on your chosen field. More wisdom, strength, fruition on everyside. Ijmn. Cheers&Congrats.
Excellent interview It made me to remember our early stay at Osogbo -Ikirun-Iragbiji -Agba- Ororuwo -Ada and Igbajo in the early 60's Bale Agbaletu you are indeed a unique star Pa Folly is highly memorable and inteligent Highly historic interview He took us back into the memory lane. However there is need to work on the sound
Dandy Adeboye was the man who bought the modern Selmer instruments from the UK that my dad and Green Bees used for years. According to my dad, IK pleaded and warned him never to lead Green Bees. IK enticed my dad with sumptuous stuff to join him in Lagos but my dad did not want to betray the other members of Blue Spot. He later regretted not yielding to IK's entreaties and his moves nearly cost him his life. My dad was the only non-Ijesha among them.
Hello Mr. Dele Adeyanju. I really appreciate u for this interview. It is a worthwhile for the records. But try and check or supervise your sound engineer for quality sound recording. For this interview it was so terrible. The same goes to that of Obesere Interview. These are veterans that u cannot interview on the same topic all the time. So pls as I like to listen to history, I would not like to hear disturbing noise again. Your production should be neater than this especially at this era of digital recordings. Thanks!
IK Dairo is not the only one composing his music. The whole band has moderation input in it. It is only Uncle Jossy's composition that doesn't get moderation by the team.
No , Ayefele got to ibadan in 1988, he was playing with uncle Toye Ajagun, before he played for wale Thompson, also Ajudua was not in town in 1988, Ssp was the first musician that sang for fred Ajudua.
When they splitting happened, IK Dairo wanted to take instruments and the car but the rest of the band did not allow it as the whole band funded their equipment together. It was at that point that Uncle Jossy took over the lead. Let me also say this bodely that at no point was their instrument transferred to Lagos. The instrument has always been in Ilesha and that was where it remained when IK Dairo left for Lagos. He was the one coming down to Ilesha to perform whenever they have show until the final breakup.
Foley peperempe get it wrong by saying Lai adis was the one who played Hawain in Eto igbeyawo record. It was late Isaac who played Hawain on that record, Lai adis first record was Ambition which was on 1984.
Great interview! Part of the audio of this video is horrible and annoying. In the future, try to edit your video before you post it on RUclips. Thanks-
Oh yeah, I can now understand why you don't acknowledge comments made under your posts. I still feel you need to work on that anyway. My opinion. Your explanations on this in a few seconds to the end of this very long video made me to quickly like and make this comment. More power to your elbow. There's always a way you make me finish seeing your videos no matter how long they may be. Your styles of interviewing and getting facts from these Nigerian music legends are so detailed. Truth will always be truth any day, anytime, and anywhere no matter the circumstances. These styles allow us the viewers to be the judge and more importantly to know the real truth about all that has happened in the music industry. Incidentally, when 1 to 3 or 4 past and current stakeholders in the industry are saying the same thing while being interviewed differently, this, by no doubt, will make the majority of your viewers to have no reason to feel they're being manipulated by anyone. Àgbàlẹtù, Kudos to you.
Nice to from your guest. I feel blessed to be able to be among the audience witness to couple shows at the Seattle center . I was blessed to be able to visit Mr IK Dario at the blue cross hospital in Bellevue washinton shortly before his death. God bless his soul. 😅
I think by now people need to understand that not subscribing to this channel is not encouraging.please if you see watching and not doing so please do , Thanks.

"O yẹ kó ti ye yin bẹyẹn" Meaning Ebenezer Obey is not the original owner of this popular tune/melody. Obey only sampled it.
Well spotted. There was a lot of intellectual property theft in those days
Yes, MKO Abiola 50th birthday was held at Abiola high school field at Osiele via Abeokuta

He knows d truth about ikdsiro and d band.he is being economical with words.
Always great program
Nice interview
Bro Dele; Orlando Owoh started his band in 1963… is it possible for an artiste that started band in 63 to have a record in 59?
You're very clearly wrong. Dr Orlando Owoh recorded Bimo bimo in 1959 and it came out in 1960.
Please always check your recordings, we can't hear some of your dialogues.
Great interview, but the poor mic quality hurt the interview somewhat and the audio.
Foley peperempe get it wrong by saying Lai adis was the one who played Hawain in Eto igbeyawo record. It was late Isaac who played Hawain on that record, Lai adis first record was Ambition which was on 1984.
Point of correction sir, it is not only IK that sang all the records. Uncle Jossy sang along too.
Great interview. But some sound fluctuation inbetween.
Nice work 👍 but the audio quality is sometimes poor.
Egbon Foli , your Nigeria and U S contact pls.
The audio is not very okay like before
I think Segun . Adewale didn't claim he played for I. K. He said he didn't stay not.
Ye le, Ye le yeye, Ye le, ye buaya. Oloja o o too je memo ri yet ri o, Ahoro. Komo l'oyun ki yeye re bi oo. Ahoro, me mo ri yee ri o, ahoro.
I heard this same story from my dad that it was because of the threats from Akintola thugs that made IK leave for Lagos.
It was greediness that made him left and ran away with Decca Records investment of the whole band.
Why can't you ask Folly about the MBE award given by the Queen of England to I.K Dairo.
MBE - Member of British Empire..
Great interview! Part of the audio of this video is horrible and annoying. In the future, try to edit your video before you post it on RUclips. Thanks-
