thanks for the tips on yamadera that we hv to bring money. we're coming to ski zao and yamagata in less than a week but watching your video makes me want to just go now :)
Looks amazing, thanks for this :) I'm planning to head over to Zao Onsen in February 2024 and your recommendation that it is a must really seals it! I have a few questions if you don't mind, the accommodation at Zao Onsen is a bit on the pricier side; I'm planning to drive so would it make sense for me to live about 30 minutes or an hour away; and drive over early in the morning? Would parking be an issue at Zao Onsen area? Sorry I'm trying to find these details online but can't seem to do so. There will be 6 of us, and 4 of us ski while the remaining 2 are elderly.. would there be anything for them over at Zao Onsen while we ski for 2 days? Any insights would be helpful, thank you!
We stayed in Yamagata and it was only a 30 min drive to Zao. The parking was a little confusing but you should be able to find a spot - just make sure to get there early. I'm not sure if there are other things to do there but I noticed many shops and restaurants. You can also ride the gondola to the top and back down without skiing.
@@mattanddags Thank you so much for this :) really helpful. I'll check out the snow mobiles as I heard that it's possible to get one of those for a ride - thanks!
i'm going to zao in 27 dec and staying over the new year. we booked at G-Square in Zao and found the price was reasonable. but i agree with you the ryokans in zao is tend to be pricey. let me know if you have any questions
