It’s so cool seeing how much she’s matured as an artist and a person since showing her debut song to Pharrell at college that time. So chuffed for her! She’s so cool
Mike Reid, singer, songwriter and first round draft choice defensive tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals wrote this song. That much talent in one person is amazing.
Magical performance from Maggie and Bryn Bliska (who plays on piano here and in Maggie's band on tour). This is like the 3rd cover from Maggie just this week that blows me away. What an amazing singer.
100% The Joni Mitchel thing was just insane and now this. She seems to have a perfect ear. Wish her all the very best. Piano reminds me of James Hooker from Nanci Griffith's Blue Moon Orchestra.... Tasty, tasty-tasty good stuff.
Ms. Rogers' vocal beauty is undeniable but, as others have said, this was a duo rendition of this heartbreaking song. This virtuoso of a pianist, with her incredible phrasing and delicate nuances, elevated this recording to stratospheric levels. As a composer and musician myself (more deep house, soul, funk neighborhood), I am always rejuvenated when I come across such incredible musical mastery. Pushes me to up my own game. =) Much respect and hats off.
Pianists know by watching which pianists have technical skill & which _feel_ the music. Bryn feels it and translates the emotions through her touch, the music, and what she experiences physically. THAT is how music should be. It's meant to move you.
New Maggie fan, ancient Bonnie Raitt fan here. I've seen BR do that song live several times and was always blown away. Love Susan Tedeschi's version, too. But this one - damn! The nuance & depth, the exquisite phrasing & tone! And then there's that piano. Well done all around! Looking forward to a lot of outstanding listening to Maggie's musical artistry.
Did you guys catch that little Bruce Hornsby like intro on the piano? What an awesome version Mags does here. She's quickly becoming this grumpy old man's favorite female singer. Great piano player here too. Thanks for the share Sirius
One of my most favorite tunes... I recall seeing one of the original writers of this song sing this at the Bluebird some years ago when i was pursuing my own hopes .... you bring that great Maggie culture to this tune... it shows like you wrote it... that is one of the great qualities of a good writer singer... possession and ownership of a tune... nicely done Maggie
Great cover - thank you! The "passion version" would be something having seen leave the light on...candlelight version cuts deep...can't wait to see you live
I’m an original Elton super fan, with 8 grandkids and I happened to see you Chappell on Jimmy Kimmel and I am hooked. Girl, you have got some pipes and your as smooth as glass. Now, I have my granddaughters listen too. I can’t believe this song popped up tonight. ❤
A deeply questioning and somber song written by Mike Reid and Allen Shamblin. Very committed approach here, by this artist, Maggie Rogers, with some pretty, crushed chords in the backup !
Now that is talent ! The piano player is Brilliant ! They complement each other so well. Too bad this does not sell out stadiums. Then again, maybe its not meant for that , at all.... Much Love here.
Sm58 is great for live but not for studio. Anyway- she is amazing and this is a great shot and most people would not know the difference but will just feel it ❤I feel it deeply still and can also hear that a different mic would have been nice
@@BeauTylerMakesMusicnot at all. I’ve had major successes using the 58 for years. It’s all about how you use it and who is singing into it. Sucks it doesn’t work for you 😔
I love your lyrics Ma'am. Bamboo (from the Philippines) made an amazing cover of your song "Light On". I hope you'd find time to listen to him. Thank you for the great music Sire!
She has a beautiful voice and excellent phrasing but like so many young singer today--and even the not-so-young--she swallows words, gets too quiet, and generally makes it hard to catch the words. I have Bonnie Raitt's "Nick of Time" album with this on it and every word is crystal clear. The lyric is so moving that it is a shame to have it hard to make out.
It’s so cool seeing how much she’s matured as an artist and a person since showing her debut song to Pharrell at college that time. So chuffed for her! She’s so cool
Starting the official petition to get this on Spotify. It worked with the Royel Otis cover of Linger!
I didn't expect to cry today but here we are.
This song done well kills me. The version that Bon Iver did years ago is my favorite. Check it out if you aren’t familiar with it.

A shame they didn’t credit the pianist in the description. Thanks for identifying them.

I agree Patrick!
Wow, that piano. I swear I teared up before the singing even started. Very touching.
and sadly the player is not mentioned anywhere in the video
Her name is Bryn Bliska
@@merysanzg Thank You so much!
I slightly prefer the justin vernon arrangement but this one's really nice too.

What a combination! The singer and the pianist are insane!

wow so touching and beautiful!!! The pianist set the vibe and dynamics incredibly well - what a blissful duo !
PLEASE release this as a single! Gorgeous…..
Maggie's just incredible.
Have always loved Maggie’s performances but lately there is just something extra magic there❣️

I had to consciously exhale to keep from crying at work. A masterful interpretation of a perfect song.
Awesome! I am sure Bonnie Rait will love hearing your version of this too!
Maggie keeps wowing... Absolutely magical cover of a magical classic
No words.. like both are magic, voice, piano, song, vibe...all✨️✨️
More I listen to Maggie, more I like her.
Bruce and bonnie,are crying ❤
This was beautiful. So many good vibes to Maggie ❤
Beautiful rendition of a heart aching banger
Goosebumps. This is so good. Wow
give me a 7 inch record with this on one side and the Bon Iver cover on the other
I would pay SO SO much money for that, and for a duet with the both of them omg
Been following her for so long. She is so talented
incredible, both of them

🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 to the pianist and Maggie, of course to both of you
So beautiful version she made.............congrats!
Omaygee! Maggie! You nailed it. Teary eyed. Hope you have this released on Spotty. 💕
Love this cover Maggie!
Stunning. ❤
Lovely! Both seem to feel music in a very profound way.
Great cover - thank you! The "passion version" would be something having seen leave the light on...candlelight version cuts deep...can't wait to see you live

Miss Maggie Roger’s may you and Miss Lucy Ellis reach the stars many of you inspired to Godspeed to those stars
All of us❤
We will miss you guys
Beautiful…real presence…beautiful 88’s
Wow. Just...wow.
This beautiful song is not easy to cover and convey the requisite emotion but Maggie is more than up to the task. ❤❤.
🔥 Born to sing. Beautiful
Lovely 😢🤗💯🙏
Sounds so good , I'm guilty of over indulgence in appreciation ❤
A cover album would be highly appreciated :D
Extraordinary version of a favorite BR song. ❤
Beautiful I’ve always loved Maggie
Amazing!
Beautiful!
I LOVE IT MAGGGGSSS!!
🇧🇷🇧🇷😭😭😭 linda interpretação.👏👏🇧🇷🇧🇷
Beautiful...beautiful! Covered the same week that Susan Tedeschi did. Actually written by Mike Reid (former NFL-er)and Allen Shamblin,
I hope Bonnie hears this.
Perfect

Well done Maggie!
Piano Player Bryn Bliska is an incredibly sensitive and intuitively attuned musician.
I'd love to hear her vocals on this... her and a piano.
A deeply questioning and somber song written by Mike Reid and Allen Shamblin. Very committed approach here, by this artist, Maggie Rogers, with some pretty, crushed chords in the backup !
very nice, bravo !!

this is nice; loveeee her angel of montgomery cover as well
Ummm….. yes you can Maggie. Quite easily! 😍
That's such a great song.
Magguzational Skill. A new word.
Not too many singers sound this good covering Bonnie Raitt. Too bad Sirius couldn't spring for a better microphone. This deserved better.
Lol the SM-58 ain't doing her any justice
when you sing like that, it don't matter what mic you're using. The 58 is also a very common mic used for live singing with major artists.
Sm58 is great for live but not for studio. Anyway- she is amazing and this is a great shot and most people would not know the difference but will just feel it ❤I feel it deeply still and can also hear that a different mic would have been nice
@@wildbird78yes, but it’s a terrible broadcasting mic.

Incredible. ♥
Wow, what a great job.
Maggie ❤
Perfection
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Yeah Maggie... 🥲🙂🙃
Bryn Bliska FTW!!
Mike Reid and Allen Shamblin wrote “I Can’t Make You Love Me”, not Bonnie Raitt.
Bryn is awesome. Maggie too, but we already knew that!
❤❤
Come on ❤
It's a fantastic rendition although a little "unbelievable" coming from Maggie as everybody loves Maggie 💕
This is beautiful, almost as good as Prince version
Never heard of the singer, but my god what a fantastic pianist. Anyone know who she is...??!
hey it's me! thank you :)
@@BrynBliskayou're an amazing pianist. Loved this performance so much
That microphone is a shame, this was such a beautiful performance by Maggie and deserved better equipment
Magguzational Skill here - you tried the hardest one. To fail on this one would be your demise. You won!!!!!! You grew up!!!!!!!
this song was meant for her to cover
our modern Sarah McLachlan ❤❤❤
Nice version, Teeks version is probably the best I've heard.
I can't put anything above George Michael's version but this is lovely.❤
Noyceee
play, ma’am. 😮💨
what the hell i am ascending

It has to be said. Taylor Swift is great as an artist, songwriter and performer.. but Maggie has a voice in a league of its own.
I'll take your pianist.
Who is she
This is a cover of Bon Ivers cover. As talented as Maggie is, this cover is nothing without his interpretation.
I thought Bon Iver was doing a George Michael cover of this song - so George Michael was covering Bonnie Raitt?
Elisabeth Shue doppelgänger….
Magwaganasitional skill. Timofy (Time) did nothing he said. "It's all her"
Mogwai, and Maggie are simaliar
If you can sing Bonnie as well as she does, then you are the real deal, love ... but that was already obvious, just saying.
The best cover of this song is George Michael’s ❤
I adore Maggie, but it should probably be illegal for anyone to even attempt this cover after what Bon Iver did.
