  • How would I enter my data for age if it is in categories of 18-24, 25-35, 36-45, 46-55, 56-65, and 65+?
    Would it be the same as for gender? Using nominal data and coding the values so for instance 18 = 18-24?

    Hi, what measure do you use when you have age groups? Is it ordinal or nominal?

    • @PhilChanstats
      @PhilChanstats  3 года назад +6

      ordinal as there is a natural ranking for age groups

    How do you then get the correct mean, median, mode etc. as in the tables it has the mean as 2.75 as an example but the mean age would actually be 36

      So far as I know SPSS doesn't calculate the mean for grouped data...here's a video that shows you how to compute the mean for grouped data by hand ruclips.net/video/6NkLyCzBNvk/видео.html

    How to code wide range of ages , like children I have some who are days old other months old and the last years old. What shall I do in this situation?

    • @PhilChanstats
      @PhilChanstats  6 лет назад +1

      Hi. Easiest to work with if you convert to the same units. Eg. convert all ages to months, or years, or number of days.
