- It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of Paxton the Prairie Dog due to long term health issues. Paxton's journey with us began just before Christmas 2023, when he was rescued from a situation of neglect. His previous owner had surrendered him after a simple infection was left untreated, leading to the loss of his arm. Despite his rough start, Paxton showed incredible strength and resilience.
Pax required round-the-clock care initially, but he quickly became strong and developed the sweetest personality. One of our favorite memories of him is how he would always gallop over to us, no matter what he was doing, to request cheeky rubs. He would instantly melt into our hands with contentment, his little nose twitching adorably, always seeming to have a toothy smile on his face.
Paxton quickly became an integral part of our family, alongside Poppy and Penelope, forming the trio we fondly called the Three P’s. Pax also known as “Snaxton” loved his snacks and had a keen sense of adventure, always eager to explore his surroundings.
In the short five months we had with him, we showered him with all our love, and he reciprocated with all his heart.
Paxton’s presence brought immense joy and love into everyone’s lives. Though his time with us was brief, the impact he made was profound. Our hearts ache with his loss, but we cherish the memories of his playful spirit and affectionate nature.

I’m a teacher who had a new job this year. I didn’t know anyone yet and was stressed out enough that I ate lunch in my classroom just to chill out. Some days Poppy and Paxton were all I looked at as I tried to brace myself for the PM.
It got better and so did I.
So Paxton, wahoo in peace, and eat all the sweet potato you want.

For what it's worth, I still always eat lunch in the classroom lol. Not that I hate my coworkers, but it's the only place I can get some peace and quiet during lunch.
Bless you! I retired from teaching after 24 years, so I know SO well what that's like! So many days I drove home with no radio on bc I just needed silence. I hope it gets easier for you!

Those months felt like years and we loved her like these lovely people love their fur children. She was our little light and we look forward and hope to hold her again someday when we move up. Love never dies.. nor does the light!

I hadn't been getting notifications, so I went looking for them. I was instantly shocked and heartbroken. I loved little Paxton. I don't know how anyone could watch them for any amount of time, and not just adore them. It was beautiful seeing Paxton enjoying grass and the outdoors. I'm happy he got to have these experiences and so much love, before he left here.

Shocked and saddened by this heartbreaking news. I'm crying for the loss of this brave little guy. You couldn't have loved and cared for him more than you did and he had a wonderful life in the time you had with him. Paxton may have lived a short life but he's left a long legacy. A little creature that helped cure depression and give joy to thousands of humans. Lots of therapists cant do that and they get paid! Life isn't fair sometimes. Animals get abused and neglected every day all over the world and there are little children in cancer wards. None of it makes sense but all we can do is make this day a little better and brighter for someone, and you guys did that for Paxton and he did it for all of us.
I wish he could have lived longer in the paradise you made for him but I'm also glad he didn't die a year ago alone and miserable.
He fought long enough and hard enough to gain the best parents in the world, a sister to cuddle with, and all the sweet potatoes he could enjoy. Paxton WON at life and went out victorious.

I broke up with my girlfriend about 6 months ago. The first night in my new place (for whatever reason) Poppy and Paxton came up on my RUclips feed. It gave me so much comfort because my ex took our cats (Polly & Pablo) and I missed them massively. Your two gave me so much happiness in those hard times. I will always love them. Earlier this year, I discovered this channel on YT. I was grieving the unexpected loss of a beloved pet of my own. Poppy’s “wahoos”, along with Paxton’s heartwarming and inspiring story, helped me a great deal. My favorite vids with Pax were his first “wahoo”, and the time where he was dressed in the little green dinosaur outfit. RIP, Paxton!

I was randomly scrolling & stopped seeing the name Paxton. And then I get to know he crossed the rainbow bridge. I started crying instantly. I loved him since I saw him for the first time. The three legged hoppy little pup. So hard he used to try & never give up. The way he used to wohoo, even when the call was for Poppy. The way he slowly cautiously climbed down from the cage, taking cozy cheek rubs, snuggled in the hand. I will miss seeing him. I can't believe he's gone. You gave him some wonderful days before he made the eternal journey. We don’t have prairie dogs in my country. But I love them. They're so awesome. So I always watched your videos. It's 1am here and I saw this hours ago and I am laying in my bed literally sobbing with tears streaming down my face. I can't stop thinking about Paxton and how precious and sweet he was. He was a replica of my guinea pig who I lost young and suddenly, and I was able to relive the love and time I spent with him through Paxton. I would watch him and Poppy multiple times a day, every single day. I've never cried like this or have felt sad like this over the loss of someone else's baby. I feel so devastated and I cannot imagine what they are going through.

I’m sorry to hear about your loss, my mother died suddenly this year, on March 16, 2024, she fell down, do to sickness from chemotherapy for multiple myeloma and choked, hit her head. I miss her just as I miss little Paxy. He was a sweet little one-armed bandit, I will say a prayer so my mother will help him to sit with our Holy Father in Heaven.

I am crying reading this sad news that Paxton passed away. I haven't been on your channel much lately and it's because my cat Phatty of 16 years sadly passed away on June 3rd. He got sick quick and there was no getting better for him this time. He is the 3rd elderly cat I have lost in the course of 8 months. My heart has been shattered and I've been so depressed. I came to your channel to smile and then I saw this sad news and broke down crying. Paxton was a lucky little fella that he was adopted by you and your wife and the last 6 months he went through SO much and was SO incredibly strong willed and determined. Paxton lived his BEST life with you guys and he knew LOVE on all the levels. My heart breaks for all of you!!! I hope Poppy & Penelope are OK. Animals absolutely grieve the loss of other animals. I am down to 1 elderly cat now from 5 and I am trying to just shower him with love and spoil him rotten until the end. I am SO sorry for your loss. I loved Paxton!❤️❤️❤️😭💔😭💔😭
Sorry for your loss Julie. Sounds like you gave Phatty a great life. I too lost my bf on June 4th, my beagle Stewie, who was 16. Today is first day i was able to watch some animal vids & i find out Paxton passed. Rough summer. Hope u r doing better. Take care

I imagine all of these fur babies the beautiful souls like you and Poppy Paxton and Penelope's parents are in a special place together sharing stories of how they're special loving humans cared for them and they are with you and they are with all of us. Is someday we'll all be together in the next realm. I'm loving my old fellow, long lean 17 lb Jupiter🐈⬛ until his end too. 14 years old has no idea that he is a senior cat. I'm in the hospital right now but going home tomorrow and my daughter informed me tonight that he's been sleeping in my wheelchair 24/7 and will not budge. It's amazing what they do for us. I miss that old lug and can't wait to get back home to him. For those who are willing to share the personal stories of living with these beautiful creatures online to the rest of the world does social service. Spreading love is such a special gift! Thank you to the parents of Poppy Paxton and Penelope. I'm sure I speak for so many just say that yes we love those prairie dogs but we love you because you are deserving of love too.
