Old guy here. It sounds like your Dad was amazing! He did a great job of raising a strong independent woman. He gave you a sense of adventure and a desire to take chances. What a wonderful gift. I am a cancer survivor, and I can tell you that there is an internal battle that we all face that we don't share with others. I don't know your Dad, but I'd be willing to bet that he knew you were strong enough to go on. He chose to do what was best for him, knowing you were resilient. He didn't want to hurt you, but his pain was just too much to bear. Your dad is still with you in your heart. He travels with you everywhere you go. Here's a virtual hug for you (_)
Look, everyone has a story. If you think you had it bad listen to this story. When I was 14 I lost my dad to cancer, he was only 47. 6 months later, my mom fell asleep with a cigarette smoking in bed and burned up the house on Christmas eve. She died on new Year's Eve. I lost both parents 6 months apart. I had to have professional counciling for 2 years. But I made it and you will to. It takes time. I to have traveled and worked at a lot of national parks. I also worked at Zion. I love Utah. Moab is very special to me. Anyhow good luck to you and be safe out there.
i dont know how or why I found this woman but after watching a few of her videos I ended up here. Wow. I'm convinced this is the realest girl on the entire internet.
As the dad of another unshakable, lifelong daddy’s girl (also a Gina), please accept these warm thoughts and virtual hug. I hate to know of your losses, but love knowing of your courage to live your dream. I chased some similar dreams in my 20s, living and working in Wales as a home base to explore Europe and points beyond for years. My wanderlust continued after moving back to states to make a life, and I continue to Chase more experiences to this day. Travel and adventure are among the greatest pieces of experience, education, and memories that no one and no life event can take from me. Never stop following your heart and enjoying life by the moment.
You are a good person who is interested in exploring life. I lost my mom in 2019 and chose to quit my job and ride my bicycle across the US. It healed me. Keep the channel going. You are a good person.
You have lived more in your young life then many have lived in a life time. Your dad prepared you for this. You're a strong woman. Thank you for sharing. Be careful but enjoy yourself and life. Too many wonderful places to see and enjoy. Thank you fir taking us along and sharing. Your viewers are there for you
Incredible journey you are on. Stay positive, safe, and optimistic as you already are. Great things are in store for you, and fortunately, i predict another very lucky person will be in your life when the time is right. Thank you for sharing your story. I'm so impressed with your openness.
Thanks for your story. I watched a few of your videos before this one, wondering if I would continue. Now I know I will. I had a big argument with my dad before he died. I got the chance to tell him I loved him when he was in the hospital with a broken hip. He died that night. I have had dark times in my life, made a suicide prevention call when things were going to end and made it through it. Had a terrible 2009-2010. Chased and photographed tornadoes in 17 states 2010-2011, which cleared my head. Challenged the God of my understanding, one night in 1984, while working in Yosemite. Told him I was ready to quit believing in him and praying if he did not show he was there. The next morning, a girl I had hiked with came by my tent and told me she was leaving for school. She said she knew I didn’t have a Bible, so she got me one. Coincidence to some, enough for me to quit being self centered. 45 years without alcohol, meth, acid and Angel dust. I live with my 15 year old soulmate/housecat in the country with ponds, river, and trees in Iowa. Extremely lazy but still rock climb. I look forward to catching up on your videos. Thank you for being vulnerable and putting it all out there.
Wow the first video I caught you in was at the state park in Arkansas digging for diamonds. My coworker told me about that park, he grew up near there , love ❤️ your personality. So I subscribed. Then I decided after skipping around a couple more vids , then decided I wanted to goto the start of your channel. I'm 65 , and love traveling too, watching this video, I can't imagine at 18, getting your passport and deciding to travel to Canada to use it. Then you traveling to Australia and New Zealand, both on my bucket 🪣 list. And southeast Asia 🌏 too! I am so happy you took your dad around all 3 those countries. Then to lose the love ❤️ of your life, Dad, and your pup 🐶 Gabe. I'm surprised you were able to dig out of your apt in 3mos. All 3 those loses were major lightning bolts 🌩 . It's so cool how you worked jobs all over world 🌎 and the national parks. Plus had a tiny house. Your life at your young age, is more filling than mine at 65. I love camping 🏕 I've been to 26 national parks, and did belize with family last may, it was incredible 😲. My mom had a timeshare in Surfside SC, we would always do a trip to Charleston for a day. You are right it's an amazing 👏 place. Prayers for you and your life, keep traveling and being yourself. Thank you for being so open about the dark times in your life. One thing I love ❤️ about channel is how point 👉 blank you are your feelings. I have 2 more yrs to work, I would love to travel now but have a couple things to payoff before I leave my job , but I will be out there end of 26. I think I am gonna flop from your early vids and the current ones. And eventually meet in the middle . Take care and safe travels 💕 Gina
I guess I came across your videos because you have posted a bunch of hiking videos. I tend to watch a lot of hiking videos, and I post my own hiking videos (and I can't seem to accumulate many followers). After subscribing to your channel...i came across this video. Normally...I would not be that interested in this type of video but I couldn't press pause. Your story was so compelling and it really got me thinking about why people get out in the wilderness. My life is not perfect either, but I know that there is nothing that makes me happier than being outside and in the presence of all that nature has to offer. Thank you for sharing your story and I look forward to seeing more of your content.
This is the third video that you have made that I have watched (I discovered you today). What an amazing beautiful story. You are an amazing, strong human being. When you visit Hot Springs National Park on your tour of national parks, stop and say hi. The Ohio Club in Hot Springs makes a great hamburger! Just keep on keeping on!
When you are older, I wonder what RUclips will be like? I'm glad you went on the adventure and continue the journey. This is like watching TV. Have fun! I wonder how I can bike around the world. Maybe RUclips is the answer?
I am so very sorry for your loss, both of your dad and first love. But you have a huge heart and now I understand you more. So glad you are ready to fly and find joy again..your dad would be so proud of you. Your strength is admirable and you inspire me.
Wow Gina I watched your videos in the wrong order and just saw this one. You have been through a lot. Glad you made it and can breathe. You are a lovely person.
Just subscribed this week and was going through your old videos and found this one. You are the same age as my daughter, and she is my everything. I grieve for you and am amazed at your strength. What drew me to your videos is the joy you see in the little things like food and sunrises and life in general. I now know why! Bless you!
You are a wonderful young woman.... courageous and strong. I watched your later videos and really enjoyed the travel you have shared. Then I thought, I would like to know this amazing young Lady's story.....I found this video and its wonderful, you are wonderful ! Thank you for sharing ! 🤗
Sorry for your loss ❤❤❤ I lost my step dad to (alcoholism) in 2007 at age 43 My grandma (natural causes) & dad to (cancer) in 2015 My grandma (natural causes) in 2018 ❤❤❤ You never really get over heartbreak & loss but it does get easy to live with as time goes on. A BURGER FRIES AND A CHOCOLATE MALT IS MY GO TO 😋 Be safe!!
Oh man girly, my heart is broken listening to all of this. 😭Stay strong dear… Your blessing is you had a good father . I didn’t have neither a good father or a good mother. Essentially my mother wanted me to move out before I was even born, and my father is an aggressive alcoholic who has threatened me. You have unfortunate situations but you also have a lot of blessings big hugs to you, dear. ❤
Well on a positive note, none of us would have known about so much heartbreak in your life until you told us your background. Because you’re so positive and adventurous in all your videos. Having gone through horrible relationship breakups with girls I really loved in the recent past, plus the deaths of friends and family, I can tell you any emotional pain from that goes away with the passage of enough time. Hang in their kiddo.
That's tough. I'm sorry to hear about your losses. But you are resilient. There are few things that sparks passion in this life for me and traveling and discovering is one of them. I can see that in you. Thanks for sharing your story and I'm rooting for you.
Gina for everything you’ve experienced I’m SO proud of you for gravitating on looking forward to a new chapter in your life you are an amazing STRONG 💪 person your smile radiates your beauty soul ❣🫶♥
Hi from Australia Gina. You are such a brave person and an inspiration to others who have experienced what you have. All the best to you on your journies 😊
Hi Gina, Thank you for opening up and sharing! Doing so, I am sure, has helped others, hopefully yourself as well. Much like you, I was blessed to have a Dad that was my best friend and we road tripped all the time. We would pick a destination and then see everything there was to see along the way. Certainly among the best memories of my life. There are so many thoughts coming to me, but, I think I will say this. Maybe your journey with this channel is your way to reconnect with your Dad, and Gabe, and share them with all of us along the way! What a great thing you are doing! Amazing that you are doing this at your age. Your Dad must be so proud!! Much peace and strength to you on your journey and please stay safe!!
P.S. If you’re keeping track of this stuff, I am guessing your Oklahoma videos popped up in my feed a couple of days ago because I am in OK. Oddly enough exactly one year to the day. (And, I don’t know why I am here. 🤣)
I stopped by for your trip hiking in the Ozarks, stayed for a few other adventures that you shared with us. I was captivated by your adventures and your down to earth style. When this video came up I was curious about your background. How could such an intelligent, beautiful, young lady become such a rolling stone? You have found a way to see the world, obviously coming from a modest background. You have seen more of this planet than most folks that were born with a silver spoon. That takes intelligence, drive and a relentless pursuit of your dreams. Amazing! You clearly were raised by someone that loved you very much. Cherish that and try to pass it on. This old world needs more people like you spreading joy and keeping it real. Try to keep a journal. It will become a bestseller and Netflix movie one day. Best of luck to you in your travels and thanks for sharing. ❤
I'm so sorry for all the loss you've had to incur st such a young age. No person should have to endure what you've had to. You are a very brave soul and I hope you've been able to find joy in your travels.
Gina, Your backstory has love and heartache so thank you for sharing. This rollercoaster called life that we are on literally has peaks and valleys. First saw you in Kentucky`s Red River Gorge. Be safe in your travels!
Young lady I'm happy you enjoyed your stay in Australia I'm from Northern Queensland ...Your father and your first love are not gone Just Gone Before and they along with your dog will walk alongside you until this roadtrip we are all on called Life is complete ...You will see them again.... I've only just come across your channel enjoying riding along this journey with you Kia Kaha
God has extraordinary plans for you Gina! He's working behind the scenes on your behalf right now. He's lining up opportunities and the right people at the right time and taking you to places you've never even dreamed of! He's working in your heart and using you as a vessel so that others may see His love through your actions. He has counted every tear, He knows when you were mistreated and promises to pay you back doubled! You are already making a difference! All God wants is for you to be you! You are the apple of His eye and He is very, VERY proud of you! Blessings! 🙏🙏🙏
Gina, Your Corolla video is showing up on automotive "recommended" lists, so you might reach a more diverse audience of people than you anticipated. They will have varying perspectives, and some will wonder what demons might drive a youngster to live out of her car. Regardless of any urge they may have to give unsolicited advice, they should at least hope that Fate provides enough leeway for you to understand and find what it is you seek. At least one worried old man in the crowd wishes you a safe journey from the bottom of his heart.
Thanks Gina, it means a lot to me that you shared this. I have a daughter 21 and son 23, and we are from Upstate SC. I've taken 3 road trips with my son, and 1 with my daughter, they were all special. My wife's father passed away suddenly in a motorcycle accident a couple years after we were married; all these years later she stills cries on his bday and holidays. While there's no way I will ever know the loss that you've experienced, it hurts me to even imagine, and it helps me to appreciate and reflect on all that's good in my life. Gina, you are a living piece of your father. You are a testimony of his love for you, and I can feel the good in you. Being myself, the 'black sheep' of most everyone, I think I would probably have liked him. 🙂 I think you are so brave - traveling on your own, and because of all you've been through. I don’t believe I could be that strong, and I think you'd be a great person to know. I honestly just want to adopt you, and go on road trips with you! 😂 If I could leave a few more kind words for you. I don't remember the quote exactly, or who wrote it, but someone long ago once said: Don't ever grow old, always keep the heart of a child. I've never felt like a grown up after 54 years. I say this because I see a child's heart in you, and that is a good thing. 🙂My wife and I have recently become 'empty nester's', so to speak. My son has really been my best friend, especially with my daughter away at college. He recently moved out, and while I miss seeing him everyday, I'm still happy for him, that he's on his own. I realize he has to make his own life, the same as my daughter. I don't know all the specifics of your dad's situation, but I know you shouldn't blame yourself. My kids happiness means more to me than my own, and I'm certain yours meant more to him. Cancer and the treatment associated can put peoples minds in very depressing and dark places, and I'm sure he would tell you what happened wasn't your fault. Being a father, I know he's proud of who you've become. Gina, I hope you find peace on your travels, and allow yourself to find love again, because you deserve it. 🙂
Brave. All I can say is BRAVE. You survived because your father raised a survivor just as my ma raised one in me. We both have a gift man people never get. Our folks taught us to be survivors. I watch my share of travel vids and mores the closer I get to hitting the road. You are one of the most inspirational I have come across. Whether you realize it or not you have a lot of people out there to help. You are a huge inspiration!
Wow. Just watched this with such great interest. I have a daughter like you. She is my best friend. I’ll be your biggest fan from now on. I gotta believe your dad wasn’t going to put you through watching him deteriorate. He wanted you to remember all the good times.
Oh Gina 🥲 So sorry to hear about all the losses you have experienced in your life. Know that your Dad is super proud of you and the woman that you have become. ❤ I have watched all your recent videos but didn’t know your back story. Stay strong and keep on healing by living your adventurous life. Hoping you have a great 2025, and so happy that your channel is growing so fast. You are an inspiration
You’re just so dang fun to watch. That smile is always on your face. The world needs more people like you in it little lady. Happy trails! From a fellow minimalist/ nomad. Love hearing you talk about your dad. My baby girl is 21 now, and o can speak firsthand, you girls have a way of wrapping us around y’all’s little fingers. Just something special about a daddy/daughter relationship. I’d go through anything for my baby girl
Wow, God bless you Gina. Your Dad would be so so proud of you. You are a strong lady and very fascinating how you can express yourself in an honest manner and still stay composed. I have 3 daughters, you remind me of them. They too are tiny and very independent Daddy’s girls. If you ever come thru Des Moines, I’d love to shake your hand and tell you nice job. Keep up the great work, keep your head held high and do what YOU wanna do. I should be in bed, but instead I’m up watching your adventure. That’s very telling. Be safe! Oh, I subbed!🙂👌🏻
Gina, that's a nice name. I forgot to tell you that you have a pretty voice when you are singing when you're on the road in your car. I'm sorry about your dad but life is like that. Everybody u know or love ends up dying. Just be glad you're still shining bright and traveling across America and doing what you love to do. I really wish I could do what you're doing. I sometimes watch the Barefoot Vlogger out of Florida. And MrMBB333 out of Arizona. Good shows on RUclips. Keep it real and stay safe Tiny Nomad 😊😊
Yes you had a great dad. He and I are about the same age. My son and I use to stop at the diner you worked at once a month for burger and ice cream . It was truly a good place to get a bite on the road. I'm sorry it has closed . I hope you the best in your journey 😊
Thank you for sharing your story and taking us with you on your adventures! I recently found your channel. Wherever you are right now... I hope you are having a great weekend.
I have a hunch that your passion for travel will someday provide you with a joy of sufficient strength to overcome your loss. Would have enjoyed sharing a friendly smile while you were visiting Maine! Hoping that time will heal the grief and will allow fond memories to replace the pain of your losses. Be well.
Just catching up on your earliest videos during this long weekend. Wow, you are seriously the most interesting channel on RUclips. I wish I had traveled when I first left the military the way you are now, instead of seeking work again right away. I’m still hoping too, maybe in a few more years there is just so much I want to get out and see while I’m still young enough to do the things I love. So sorry for your losses as well. That was so sad to listen to and I could feel the pain as you talked. You have really been through a lot so far but you seem very resilient and clearly you were raised right. I hope your channel continues to grow from 100 when this was posted and hopefully up to 5000 soon enough. Hope you’re having a good Thanksgiving and safe travels to you.
The way to describe your relationship with your dad, makes me wonder if the cancer treatment caused the ending, my mom had breast cancer, but she died several years later due to the damage done by the treatment. I know many medications have known side effects and warn to stop taking them if the effect has manifested. I'm a dad, I would not hurt myself because I know that would hurt my son and I love him so much. he is my anchor. God bless you and heal your heart.
I just wanted to say sorry for your loss I lost my dad who I had a bond with that was toughest thing I ever went through I miss him every single day so I understand what you saying in this video
Bless your heart Gina, i am glad your able to share you adventures, so sorry for your losses, I understand. I hope you will find peace and joy from now on in life. Your videos always put a smile on my face. Stay safe and strong...God bless you😊
So sorry to hear about your losses, I lost one of my best friends to suicide, and that was years ago but still get choked up thinking about him so understand where you're coming from. I'm guessing I came across your channel because of all the hiking, parks and camping video's I follow, glad I did since it's always fun to see what someone from the same home town is doing. I'm betting we crossed paths when you were working at your first drive in job. I know I've lost count of the number of times I've stopped there.
I feel for you Gina. Over a span of seven years I lost my dad, then my mom, then my younger brother. Though all were difficult, my brother was the hardest. He was my best friend, as well as my roommate. It took a full year for me to pick myself up from that. It also took that long for me to be able to go back to places we frequently went and enjoyed. I understand your pain, and I feel your grief. I remember the intense feeling of being completely alone. It takes time, but things do get better. Thank you for sharing this. I wish you the best of luck.
I’ve been traveling since I was 19 (46 now), mostly through the military and truck driving. Lost my dad in my early twenties. I’m not gonna offer up any advice, because I’ve never felt like I’m doing it right. But I’m still doing it. Thanks for the videos so far, and I’m definitely subscribing.
Awww... sorry about your dad, I suppose it's just one of those things everyone has to go through in life. It sucks. I just hope that through the loss , you realize how fragile and precious life is and to make the most of yours.
So I just hopped on your channel recently through the magic of the RUclips algorithm. I started with a couple of your recent videos and liked your trips and the local diners and waterfalls that you visited. I made my way to this video and am blown away by your ability to persevere through the great losses you have experienced. Thank you for being so up front and real, Gina. It's obvious you have a great deal to share here and I hope you keep it going.
I'm so sorry, you've been through a lot of pain. I'm so glad you got to spend that time with your dad, he sounds like an amazing man! I too lost the love of my life, not by death but,,, circumstances at the time. It's been 30+ years and I still love her more than anything in this world, but she's happily married now. So,,, I just go on
Hey Gina thanks for sharing with us and will keep on following your channel to see what other shennaningans you get into. Good luck and don’t forget to talk to God. He wants you to talk to him.
Im so sorry, sweet girl. i know losing a parent is so hard . Cancer is so hard and he probably just wanted out of the pain . He loved you for sure. Please forgive him as god forgives us. You have gone to a lot of places, and im sure he would want you to carry on with your life .❤🎉❤
Thanks for sharing the other, more difficult pieces of your life with us. I can’t even imagine the grief that must follow losing someone you love and then your parent. I can see in your more recent videos, the joy that has returned to your life. That’s exciting and refreshing and I’m happy to see where you go from here 🤘🏼
You've lived quite a life already, and in such a short time. I appreciate you sharing your story, and it certainly helps to know what brought you to the road. I'm looking forward to more of your story, so be safe out there. 😊
I knew there was a story young lady. You have weathered the storm and will continue to heal! I lost my fiancée to CF in 92 and still healing but more like living. Thank you for your transparency and rawness. This how you start recovering and from surviving to living.
I can't even imagine going through all the loss you've gone through in such a short time. I'm a dad, and I can relate to your relationship with your dad. I know he would be proud of you, and very happy that you're getting up on your feet and living life again.
Gina you are a beautiful person, as a father and grandfather I can tell you that your father is so very proud of you and for what it's worth this old Aussie is proud of you and your love for your dad, your dog and past love.
Glad to see that you had a good time on thanksgiving. I was married for 25 years and now I choose to be alone and I enjoy every minute of it, so keep doing what makes you happy that's all that matters in life. If you don't mind me asking who's the young man in the pictures?
I just watched this episode as after seeing some of your recent ones, I wanted to know you better. It was very poignant, and I found myself crying along with you. It's amazing to me how you share your innermost feelings. I think you are a true Sweetheart. I like your accent too and how you pronounce "but", LOL! Steve
@@VTSteve thankyou!! ❤️ it’s definitely tough to talk about some of that stuff but I also know that it’s all important parts of my journey and why I am the way i am. I also love when other people are willing to share raw honest experiences so I try my best to stay on that level with you guys. And as always thanks for watching one of my little videos :)
@@atinynomad I have found there aren't so many people that share that raw feeling. I've lost both my parents, and got divorced a long time ago, and have mostly lived alone once my boys grew up. And I over the years find myself feeling alone quite a bit. I suppose I fill that empty space watching my Fav TV Shows and RUclips Subscriptions. I don't know that I'll ever find a compatible companion at this stage, it's harder when you're older. If I owned my own place I'd probably get a Dog which would help. I still buy Lottery Tickets to keep that hope alive ;-) Anyway, I'm going to keep following your channel and Journey, I think I have a little crush on you at this point, LOL! And if you're ever back in Vermont, or near the Southwest Corner, be sure to go find The Blue Benn Diner in Bennington, VT ! ( "The ambiance of a classic 1957 “silk city” diner car coupled with an extraordinary menu that goes well beyond diner classics makes this restaurant a must to experience" ).
@@VTSteve that diner sounds fantastic and right up my alley! I’ll have to put it on my list! Thanks for the recommendation 😁 dogs really do help so much with loneliness.. absolute wonderful companions. I wish that I could have one right now but I’ve got too many plans to travel overseas once I’m finished with this 50 state trip. Maybe one day 🐾
I appreciate your story Gina . I lived through a lot of the same things. I’ve been hit with almost every loss imaginable. I feel for you, I really do. I had no idea why RUclips recommended your videos to me but now I see why. The pain of loss never really goes away but you learn to live with it. your heart starts getting filled with new things as life moves on, it’s gets easier a little bit at a time. I’m from the Philadelphia area and I used to stay and work on a farm in bueno vista Virginia, I’ve been to Lynchburg many times. If you’re ever in the Philadelphia Pa area and need I helping hand, respond to this comment and let me know. Best of luck to you, things will get better -Nick
Thanks for sharing, Amazing story. Sorry for all your loses. I wish I could be more like you traveling RUclipsrs, I just can’t get over the fear of the uncertainty.
Thankyou! and yeah I can understand that! I'm just the opposite, I have a fear of certainty haha hate having my life planned out to the T. With traveling and adventure, there's always something new around the corner
Old guy here. It sounds like your Dad was amazing! He did a great job of raising a strong independent woman. He gave you a sense of adventure and a desire to take chances. What a wonderful gift. I live with my 15 year old soulmate/housecat in the country with ponds, river, and trees in Iowa. Extremely lazy but still rock climb. I look forward to catching up on your videos.

Love to You sweet Gina.

This is the third video that you have made that I have watched (I discovered you today). What an amazing beautiful story. You are an amazing, strong human being.
Good luck to you young lady!!

Gina,
Your Corolla video is showing up on automotive "recommended" lists, so you might reach a more diverse audience of people than you anticipated.
This comment made me smile and chuckle. Thankyou so much! 🙏
If I could leave a few more kind words for you. 🙂
