Hi Dave …love tour channel I ‘m new to your viewership. . I’m 69yrs.old and raced MX for 20+yrs. I’ve owned well over 100 bikes. Still have 12 to 15 now ( not sure I loose count ). I remember it all. Been there and done a lot. Ya I’m still riding no plans to stop until I stop. OK that’s it. Just wanted to say hello.

Worked in a Suzuki shop back then. Dunno if we sold many SP400's, I can barely remember. But we did sell a lot of DR's though.
Great reliable bikes. Being young and dumb I preferred the wheelstanding 500.
One of these 370/400 would be great nowadays.
The more you ride these, the easier they start.
Fuel is fresher, plug and carb jets clean, air filter clean.

Thank you. I sold that bike about 1 year and 1/2 ago, but I think its floating around marketplace again.

I had a new SP370 in 1978 and SP400 in 1982, both in red. Lovely bikes, but pigs to start.😀

Funny thing, before I adjusted the valves (they are spot on now), it was easier to start. I could start it w/o the release dohicky

They start easily if serviced with fresh fuel and plug.
      Much easier than the 500's.

Happy New Year Dave thanks for selling me the 81yz60 I love just having it and looking at it. Every now and then my old racing buddies stop over and we conversate about it and I let them ride it and they can't believe how fast that little thing is. It's actually funny to see the expression on there face. Love your channel keep it up. Ran across some pictures of the flying Dutchman days when I was flat tracking for Donald Zechman out of Pine Grove Zechman's yamaha and there's a couple pictures of Luke Zechman standing with the # 88 and #3 . The one bike was a bultaco custom built bike by a fellow from up in northeast pa and it won a championship back in the day. Was just wondering if you might remember anything of it since you are a bultaco guy would have been around 1984ish I think.

Thanks for the kind words. I actually own that custom Bultaco. I saved with help from Don Miller. It's number 3A and was ridden by Tom Majeski, a Bultaco Astro with a Moto Villa engine and Meng Specialties swing arm. I'm gonna do a video of it someday, maybe at Piston Poppers.

The sp370 had no valve lifter. To start it you kicked over the engine with the ignition off a couple of times, bring it up to top dead centre, or a smidgen over, ignition on and a big kick.
If you kicked it over without bringing it to just over TDC you will injure yourself. The kickback is like being hit by a sledge hammer on the sole.. You have been warned.....
