Back in the 1970s, Cuba got a specific Russian machines and recipe that would fried these delicious empanadas. They were called Russian empanadas and I was very small when my parents would take me to go to eat these things, and they were filled with cheese ,chicken ,ham, fish spread, etc. The smell was incredible. It lasted about 10 until they were removed from my town. Not everyone on the island of Cuba got to try them. They weren't that fortunate, but I was. I always wanted the recipe and here it is. Thanks The only thing I regret is that my dad died last year and he always dreamed of me finding the recipe and making it for him 💔 😔.
Looks like the 'Niches' an old Russian woman would sell from a paper bag on sands of Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, NY. in the 1970s. Can't wait to try the recipe and reminisce!
Do you know the real name for it? I used to get them back when I lived in Brooklyn and would love to know how to make them. I used to get the meat ones.
Thank you so much for posting this, I made myself 3X and I enjoy it very much, I felt right back in Russia my memories came out as childhood happiness of joy in food.
I made this for my boyfriend who is Russian and he loved it, I nailed it on the first try😭😭 im so grateful thank you for making this video so easy to follow!
I usually get these at this Russian bakery in SF and have been craving some!!! This is the perfect recipe exactly what I was looking for!!! Thank you!!! I added meat onions cheese and sauerkraut in the filling instead and it was amazing !!!
Delightful. Back in the time of my grandparents, we Nelsons and other Americans would dine at The Samovar Russian Restaurant in Medford, Oregon; a classy joint with live Russia instrumental music; These pirozhki's were my favorite dish(I'm passionate about potato.) They served a dessert pastry The Napoleon.
As a Brazilian I instinctively want to put cheese alongside the potato filling. I’ll try this someday, I hope it does not offend Russian culture in some way.
I'm making the dough now. Your recipe looks great! Going to make a philly cheese steak filling with ground beef, green bell pepper, onions, and white cheader cheese. I will let you know how it turns out. Grazi! 🇮🇹 ❤️❤️❤️😘
отличная кулинария. супер рецепт. С помощью того же ингредиента вы можете приготовить южно-индийскую еду под названием «Майсур бонда». Попробуйте и это тоже . спасибо из керала,индия.❤️❤️❤️
Yum Piroshki is my favourite my babushka always make these and few nights ago i made them for the first time with beef and rice filling and gave some to my Aussie work colleagues gona try this recipe tonight and suprise my GF 😃
Thank you for this recipe Been searching for piroshki since long. Used to love eating diffrent types of pirsohki while in ukraine My favourite was one with garlic I would be very thankful if you can share the recipe for garlic piroshki. Thank you
I tried replacing the amount of milk with the same amount of water but looks like i have to add more flour when i do that because if i dont the dough becomes too soft and the piroshkis fall apart because the dough cannot be molded. Have you tried replacing one for the other at the same amount and what was the result? Or maybe its that my flour is the problem and i would need more flour even when using milk?
I want to make these vegan for fasting purposes. Would it affect the recipe a lot if I were to use plant based milk? Eg: oat or almon milk? Or can I substitute it for something else?
Thank you for watching! Recipe in the video description.
Subscribe to the channel, I will be very happy! Let's be friends 😊
What's good pair with pirozhki? A meat dish?
@@makmak881 Soup is better for pirozhki, and we love them in Russia with sweet tea.
@@makmak881 This is a independent dish. Personally i like to eat them with milk.

I want to make these vegan for fasting purposes. Would it affect the recipe a lot if I were to use plant based milk? Eg: oat or almon milk? Or can I substitute it for something else?
It is better to take oat milk or water. The process will be the same
Do you have one with meat & potato thanks
Perfection 🪆
these look so good i can't wait to make my own gluten free version of them !! ❤
Just fry the potato concoction in the oil or butter. Yum.
I liked it.
❤❤❤❤👍🏻
Tasty 😋
Can you use instant mashed potatoes?
It's better to cook, but if it's delicious and you like it, then you can. Only it needs to be made thick enough and add butter.
I miss my student life in Ukraine. I ate a lot of this while being there.
Hey we make it in Azerbaijan too
You made it a little different I always thought it is azerbaijanian food who told you that it is Russian
Lioka😋👋🍒🍒❤️
Bet these would taste great with vegetarian borscht.
I made it and it was delicious. Most difficult part was dividing the dough into 17 parts. 😅
👍
