Hey don't forget Layne Staley. Hearts are nice but I joined your group and subscribed because I like who you have done so far but Layne Staley could be heard over the amps his voice was so powerful. That's a quote from Ann Wilson from Heart
The “Axl sounds like Mickey Mouse” thing is ridiculous. He’s almost 60 and he’s singing these crazy songs every couple of days for months. I was fortunate enough to see GnR early in their tour this year and Axl sounded great.
It obviously depends on his fatigue level, but the "mickey mouse voice" occurs on his mid range (e4-b4)(in songs like sweet child o'mine), in his passaggio, that's where you need a healthy voice to have a good tone, above that range you can switch into a "scream tone", that, if you have a powerful voice, it is probably almost always there
@@miko1975guitar There are 20 years of difference between one tour and another. What did you expect? to run on 4 platforms, jump and dance like when he was 20 years old?
He always seems to do his best when he's in Tokyo. Because, they're the best most respectful audience and Axl appreciates that and gives them what they deserve.
What the fuck… Tokyo 92 is nothing special compared to the rest of the tour. Literally every single tour they’ve done in tokyo he sounds the exact same or better throughout the tour… youre statement has NO base at all…
@@_Kylix_ He literally said "Literally every single tour they've done IN tokyo he sounds the exact same or better....." That's exactly my point. That's good that you think he's right, because that makes my comment right. I didn't say shit about Tokyo 92'. I just said when they play in Tokyo he seams to play better. Now knock it off. Like I said, nobody gives a shit anymore.
If you want future videos, You're Crazy from Late Show 88' / Rolling Stone feat. Axl & Izzy - Salt of the Earth / Tom Petty feat. Axl - Free Falling, Axl was intouchable. And of course, Perfect Crime from Indiana 91', Axl at his most badass form after 1h30 show. There is more but it would be too long. Edit: Yesterday from Las Vegas 92'
If you wanna see Axl REALLY showing off his voice, check out his performance with Tom Petty at the ‘89 Mtv Awards! Tom Petty was closing the show, last performance of the night. At the start of the 2nd verse of Free Fallin’, Axl came out and literally took the stage! I love Tom Petty, but Axl walked on stage, bitch-slapped Petty with his own damn song, took the stage, the song, and all Tom Petty could do was stand in AMAZEMENT yelling “WOW” after every verse Axl sang. Check It OUT
Axl is a beast! For a man who sacrifice his voice on the 90's, pass for a few throat surgerys, he is doing a great job! With no playbacks, playing all song on the original tune. Saw him alive in 2016 and was amazing.
Every time I have been lucky enough to hear Axl sing live and let die live, I am blown away by these screams he does. Thanks for these videos- really informative and love the appreciation for the singers !
If you listen more carefully, Axl has to use his falset voice 'Mickey Mouse' in songs with medium tones. For example Sweet Child o Mine, You Could Be Mine, end parts of Estranged, etc. But when high-pitched songs like Nightrain, Welcome to The Jungle, or when the lyrics "Take me home" are in Paradise City, Axl's voice will come out from the 90s. Actually, Axl also uses the voice of 'Mickey mouse' in AC/DC songs from the Bon Scott era, for example TNT & Highway to Hell, because the pitch is medium. It's different from Brian Johnson's AC/DC songs, for example Thunderstruck, Shout to Thrill, etc., which have a higher pitch. It's in the high notes that we hear Axl's voice is more rasp than when he sings GNR songs with a voice like Mickey Mouse. Sorry for my bad english 😁✌
I understand this! Thanks for the analysis. I’ve heard him singing more like “Mickey” in a few others There Was A Time versions, even in the higher parts, so I mentioned it in that way. But usually it’s indeed the medium register
Many singers have better range... But range is not important. Axl had and has a particular way of singing (full diaphragm, rasp technique, along with mixed voice). It is easy to say it, but not to do it.
Axl's performances with ACDC are just unbelievable. THAT DUDE IS 60yo ffs and singing ACDC songs like he's 25. Of course that because ACDCs songs are less complicated vocal wise. At least for him
He never should have sang and still shouldn’t sing Live and Let Die. Painful. All he really does is scream, yell, and cackle. Seriously. That is not singing. Five Octaves? I guarantee he could not sing even remotely close to a mediocre opera singer. Someone ask him to prove me wrong. He couldn’t do it.
Axl hit the There Was a Time high not TWICE in the same night and better than ever in Madrid this very year 2023, he got way better at controling his range
@@CrazySinging I'm a language teacher so... :) just part of the job. The 'z' sound is a 'voiced' version of the 'S' ...you almost need to employ the diaphragm to push out the 'Z' sound...you should feel your throat vibrate if you put a finger on it as you say it...rather than just push out the air. As a vocal nerd you should have no problem correcting it. I'm guessing your first language is Spanish?
