Dear Oscar I can not thank you enough for posting this, this had led to a real detective mission and thanks to you this is now a little more widely available for everyone.I still find it hard to believe that I posted a comment over 2 years ago asking if this had been re issued .Well it is now available and I can say it sounds amazing. Thank you Oscar. Glyn Hyperloop Records
This song is absolutely wonderful. You'll never know if Psychedelic Music will make a comeback one day. Perhaps it might be taken into another level, making its comeback in the 2060's. I don't know if I'll be around then but I was content living through the 1960's. Because Psychedelic Music will always explore other dimensions as well as the consciousness of the mind.
Got to know a guy who used to be in a band in the sixties they played along side the action eyes of blue blonde on blonde and many others and he has sold his record collection to me some rare stuff but they have all gone to a good home I will keep them safe until it’s my time to pass them on for others to enjoy
A few lots of Welsh psych meic stevens eyes of blue , strawberry dust few prom stuff haven’t gone through it all yet because Iv moved house and stuff is till in boxes was a promo Deep Purple HUSH 7” which is nice not rare but rare promo copy plus over hundred lps , JULY , all the usual suspects but all psych mody stuff . I DJ and can’t wait to start playing my new stuff, if you ever come across a copy of THE BASKET FACES AROUND give me a shout
I'm not bothered about classifying music (I appreciate what oscarowski says about making it easier for anyone who might be interested to find about records by using phrases like "mod psych")...all I know is that I love this record so much. I know someone who has an original; when he played it out, the hair on my neck stood up. vivalajoshiles88, please thank your uncle for me; he and his friends made one of the greatest records I've ever heard.
I literally started surfing on a tree with saw in hand while pruning it when someone played this song on an independent radio and am so glad that I could find it hear.
Excellent tight musicians - the Hammond sound gets inside the groove and definitely grabs your interest with that sharp solo then quickly steps out again with the rest of the boys
Times like these.. I sung melodieus.. when I was just one year old, I remember from the very first moment of Awakening, the lives behind me were dead, yet they lived in me, from birth to conception.... a Sequence of Constructs trying to Calculate the Sorcerers Ascendant's Codex of Pandora....
The keyboard on that song was truly amazing. Something that you don't hear in today's music. Hippie and Long-haired groups were truly amazing Cos they were Groovy and totally Far-Out.
The best Hawkwind song not written by Hawkwind??? Seriously why did this not get into the top ten back in the day? And why hasn't (to my knowledge) this been used in a film or television show? Many thanks
Hi Leonardo, Wonderful - do you know if he/they recorded anything else during the late 60's to late 70's ? I suppose he played in the band Sunshine Theatre(?).
Hey Leonardo, do you have an email I can contact? In regards to getting your Dads music out on my new label. It's an amazing 45 & more people need to hear it! Best Paul paul.orwell@btinternet.com
I love this song, especially when you've got a prototype-punk guitar riff that sounds like Sonic Reducer. If this was harder, faster, heavier, I could easily see this being a song by The Damned about seven or eight years later. As for the mod label, I'd call it proto-punk or post-mod. Mods by 1967 were evolving into skinheads, the northern soul scene, or were becoming hippies. Most settled down, married and already had kids by 1971.
@@hyperlooprecords1609: Thanks! Definitely a mid-late 60s throwback for '71, but still cool. What became of Dave Wood after this? I'm surprised he didn't end up playing with Arthur Brown at some point.
Yes - it’s real:). In certain countries (mainly Brazil and Argentina) 33rpm was standard for 7-inches. In other countries they sometimes made 33rpm 7-inches to prolong the groove time, but the standard was 45rpm, just like you’re used to seeing them.
albert guder I think it's more to do with the search engine optimisation, more than anything. I'd even say some aspects of the song are almost prototype-punk, such as the guitar riffs.
mod in 1971 and why mod psych ?since when do narrowminded ness and mind expanding drugs mix?yes you are obviously a Paul Weller fan,and think the 60's was all mod mod mod mod mod mod that is what the world now falsely thinks sad really
Dear Allan, Thank you for your point of view. It's actually more about search-phrases so that people interested in this kind of sound find it easier, rather than me labelling it as such-and-such believing I'm some kind of guru. I didn't mean to upset you. In any case I find you a bit offensive - especially the part about me being a Paul Weller fan... absolutely not!;) Have a good day sir and take it easy on the coffe.
the majority of self declared mods I have met over the years are total Weller obsessives...so i do apologise I just hate it when people who werent there have to rewrite history and the whole mod angle reall;y makes it look as if psychedelia had been just another trend yes to a lot of people it was,but even today we need to open our minds there is more than some stupid categories and artifice to life.As a musician myself i always say to others Let the music speak itself, bands in the 60's and 70's rehearsed and worked very hard on their craft.not like today where coldplay and u2 are regarded as demi gods even though they are just about mediocre
allan gudge I wholeheartedly agree with you on Coldplay, who are mediocre. I don't get why they're treated as musical and cultural demigods when they're more like a band you find in a shit student union gig.
this is what is wrong with 'record dollectors' like you-know-who: '... A superb track that is very hard to put in a certain genre as it has a lot of ingredients ...' - i mean, what is wrong with this kind of pigeon-holing bullshit ? -- music should not be here for 'putting in a certain genre' - that's not why music is created is it ? to be 'put' in a 'catagory' - is music or recordings created to be 'put' in a box ?... the only possible reason for that is in a used record store and even that is degrading for 'customer's convenience' - sick of record dollectors and their dumb-assed 'genres' - it's a true nitemare and it trivializes everything about music and the people who create -- the most interesting thing about this great record is it's from wales and that it is an early iggy/stooges 'search and destroy' sound-a-like .... why not try putting it into that 'genre' LMFAO
Hi Jeff! Hope you’re well! Appreciate all the great music you’ve not just created, but often crafted to perfection. I sort of agree with you, but it does get a bit difficult to take in when you get personal and start spewing vitriol. You’re one of the smartest guys out there - I really mean that. You might not remember, but we used to keep in touch on FB ages ago and it’s some of the most fun discussing I’ve had. If you’d only stick to substance, instead of trolling, you would get so much more of your message through. Love, Oscar
Finally getting a proper group-supported release through Hyperloop Records. Issued with a PS. Keep yer eyes peeled.

There's always some young band today doing it. last big comeback was 1993.

It’s taken years to get a copy and I finally have one from one Welsh boy to four others thanks for your music
Congratulations! Not an easy one to track down!

Sounds intriguing! Any other obscure private pressings or small label obscurities?

Great psychedelic song and group from Wales!!!! I love this. Super organ soloing with harmonizing vocals!!! Thanks for sharing this great song!!!!
Very catchy. sound's more like 1967 rather than 71.

When they first start singing and up to "I like to look at the mountain" it a copy of The Byrds "Three Miles High." Still, it's extremely nice.

You mean of course 8 miles high
Great sound, dumb question.
It's a pile of rocks with soil and trees on top. What's to look at?

it's fine but what has it got to do with mod?Mod in 1971??
