  • Russian President Vladimir Putin has ended his whirlwind tour of Asia, after securing agreements with North Korea and Vietnam. Moscow is boosting relations with Asian allies to offset its international isolation over its war with Ukraine. Political scientist Klaus Larres, Richard M Krasno distinguished professor of history and international affairs at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, tells CNA’s Asia First that Putin has achieved his aim of bolstering the country’s credentials.

Running out of ammunition? They're projected to produce 4.5 million artillery shells just this year. Nato is predicted to produce around 1.5 million. Western commentators have been saying Russia has been "running out of ammunition" since the start of the war, but Russia has made gains precisely because they've been outgunning and out-manufacturing Ukraine and the NATO equipment.

"Running out of ammunition" is a stupid comment of an arrogant pro US guy. The Russian force can shoot missile and clean Kiev at anytime they want during the last 6 month, when Kiev run out of air defense missile. Look into the fact that, how devastated the electricity infrastructures of Ukraine has been experience. Ukraine was able to hold their ground because he want to. The president does not need to continue his operation anymore. War is expensive and he know that. He is a president, not an idiot. Do we see any major troops mobilzation last 6 months. No. Its only the fact that its really difficult to stop the war, come to piece and clean the afterwar mess here.

Maybe he need to speak in his native language to be able to express himself well: with due respect.

@Larres: How well versed are you in Korean/Russian? You started the interview good, then went on with your own views instead of "cold-hard" facts, that the UN, BRICS, a number of think tanks (including in DC, Virginia, and California), have already shown to be false, yet you reiterate as fact. Even 38th North gets it quite factual, and they give analysis to the defense industry.... It's fine to have an opinion, but to give an opinion as fact is actual bias, not factual analysis.

I think Putin must have discussed with Xi Jinping before going to North Korea . There is a big shift in the world from unipolarity to multipolarity. Vietnam , wants to go both ways. US simply need think out a new foreign policy . The world is changing and the West has a completely wrong assessment of the capability of Russia. While Russia is very closely monitoring the a West .
