Great video man. I figured this out myself yesterday by looking up and also noticing the circular patterns of the bombs around me during the extraction specifically. Once i understood how it works, it was a lot more manageable. The real problem is when you play with randoms. The system has a hard time shooting around the players when everyone is in a different position and that's when you get a lot of casualties. Unless you run around with your own squad you will be dying a lot. You either play solo or with your friends but playing with randoms right now is a nightmare.
I don’t want to hate on the DSS, and after a couple missions (and explosive resistant armor AND a shield pack) I was dying less, but at the same time, it’s not feasible to ask any diver to slowly walk around on a level 10 bot mission with the amount of incoming fire and rockets etc. I’m not saying it’s a lost cause, I think they can tweak it, but I think tweaks do need to be made.
Lemme help ya with that. First determine where the DSS is. On the list of planets you were considering, cross off the one the DSS is orbiting. No more artillery deaths, you're welcome😂

I absolutely agree tho that it needs to be reworked on, like a telegraphed indicator(same with meteors and volcano rocks), make the safe zone larger AND "highly prioritize targeting enemies around the helldiver" just like how eagle storm is on its current form.
Another trick I have noticed with the orbital barrage is also the same rule that applies to mortars and other barrages. Stop playing like you are the last action hero of Call of Duty. On defensive missions, mortars work great... as long as no one is outside trying to fistfight the enemy. Keep the enemies at a distance, or get taken out by automated weapons that target enemies.
I think I'll try out the eagle storm version whenever that happens and avoid any barraging planets in the future lmao. A random team of four is just never going to stick together and if the barrage randomly switches between players, people are going to get hit. This also severely limits loadout variations. Last night I played a game and half our reinforcements were taken due to the barrage. I'm not disappointed, this is just funny, but I'll be sticking to non DSS planets when barrage is active.
They could do many things and they've done them all wrong. Why haven't they put any indicator of where the bombs are going to fall? Why do they only fall near the players? Why don't they stop for a minute to be fired (what a headache)? And the most important question, why haven't they put an Orbital Laser which is more useful?
Thank you for telling this to everyone, now im glad im not the only one realize this mechanic, I have used it to wipe map and rush the mission really quick, with explosion protection armor and sheild backpack, I must say enjoy the game so far, the bombarment took down so many bots and bases this is just crack, it a jack of all trade, as long as everyone go together and not Fkin solo alone then everything will be less deadly

I agree and stayed up too late playing. In particular the last mission the randoms and I had an absolute blast. The game was fun and challenging. And this it totally something the government of super earth would do.
Interesting, I watched another video of a person trying it for the first time and the barrage was clearing objectives on the other side of the map and such too. Out of nowhere he got completed destruction of anti air and also later on destruction of broadcast tower while they were on completely different places on the map from where he was.

it feels like the design team is headed by someone that comes up with great ideas, someone below who turns these ideas into dogshit hotdog water, and the rest of the team who constantly have to redesign everything after its already been put out
Easy quick fix would be to bombard areas of maps, not the whole map. Plus maybe at intervals. Maybe players direct barrages with stratagem ball, or just areas of maps are highlighted.
I don't think it's absolutely horrible but it definitely isn't super amazing. Not a hard foul but they only got to first base with this and didn't hit a homerun. I really wish Orbital Blockade was active at the same time as Planetary Bombardment. I liked the clip of the planetary bombardment taking out the stratagem jammer. Was there another fab on the jammer or do you think the HE shell was able to take out the jammer?

No. We were killed on extraction - took 7 reinforcements. Extraction was on a hill. No one got out more than 15m from Eagle beam and we were hit like 3-4 times. So no. This stuff is broken and stupid.
Killed me 3 times. Then wiped my entire team at extraction shooting thru 3 overlapping shield generators. Wasted all of our reinforcements basically and ruined the mission. Mad broken.

This just proves again that AH does not have playtesters/QC and do not play their own game. I refuse to believe that a sane person in team played THIS and saw no issues.
It doesn’t need to be fixed, it’s not broken. It’s doing exactly what it says it’ll do, planetary bombardment. It does need to be changed, however, as it sucks to run around with a 380mm strike following you for 40 min
It's extremely annoying to have the constant crashing. Meanwhile, you can't hear the audio cues of nearby enemies. You can't hear drop ships coming in. And secondary objectives are being marked as failed (this is new) - ostensibly because a shell landed on the console.

weird, it was 50000 req for me, i donated it all, not 10000
At introduction, 10k was max and AH changed it early on to 50k.

I think the perfect hotfix to this can be increasing the radius
So that player are difficult to run into it and still doing its job
The radius is huge. Ive seen it go off over 160m away. We were all 4 huddled up like max 10m away
DSS is working as intended.
Eagle storm doesn't seem to be working, even if it was activated. Never seen any more eagle than those i've sent.
