  • This is me reacting to a match from the Italian SuperLega between Vibo Valentia and Allianz Milano. This match features a ton of great players but is also a showdown of two Japanese players, Yuji Nishida and Yuki Ishikawa. I believe this is the first time they have played against each other professionally! I hope you enjoy and don't forget to like, comment, and ask questions if you have them! Yay volleyball!
    I also want to apologize...I messed up Yuki's name in this video AND forgot to mention that there are also Italian Olympians in this video as well! I don't know how I messed up these two things but I am very sorry!

    after I started watching your videos I'm constantly looking for the pass in the matches and analyzing the liberos and paying attention to players on the back of the court, its so fun because I've never paid attention to these players, i was always looking for setters and hitters but the defense is so important as the attack.
    and it would be really cool if you watch the matches from the Turkish league, gabi is one of the outside hitters from vakifbank and she has an excellent pass and cover the back of the court in an impressive way.
    great video, its so satisfying track the italian league, so many good players

    I'm really looking forward to your reaction! I have watched most of the matches of Vibo Valentia and Milano of the season so far and this particular match got me especially excited because of Ishikawa and Nishida playing against each other for the first time! Which made me think about a question that's been in my head for a long time now. What does feel stranger: Playing against someone who is usually on the same side of the net as you or standing on the same side of the net with (former) opponents?

      oooooh good question! to be honest...at this point neither! as pro vb players were so used to going back and forth and switching up teams. i would say its just slightly stranger to play against USA teammates. but just slightly

      Kazan vs St Petersburg just played each other - between Christenson/Grebennikov & all the Russian national team members on both side, it was fun watch! I have no clue what's actually being said, but based on body language, seems like there was some good natured verbal sparring. 😂
      As a spectator, it's definitely fun to watch national team members play each other & with other nations team members during the club season. Probably why I like watching Milano..they've got a good mix

    Does it make a ton of difference if you have a receiving opposite? I mean I only know of Matt and more bodies covering should be good but there are more seams as well so if two attackers go for the same ball there would be less attacking options.

    I have this big doubt on the Italian league, specially with Milano! How is it that every time the setter is on the net, a middle blocker comes from the bench in his place when they have the serve? They make that change as if the guy from outside was another libero, I mean with the option to get in and out of court anytime and many times he wants!!🤔🤔 did anyone notice it? Or is just something normal in the Italian league?

    • @aronrabben4768
      @aronrabben4768 2 года назад

      You're only allowed to make 2 subs per set. Milano kept that rule i think. 11 is only in for 16 2 different times.

    • @haplapngpGITM
      @haplapngpGITM 2 года назад +1

      It happened a few times in the past few games but I think one time was a mental reset for porro cuz he was messing up a bit and another time I believe the announcer made the observation it was for a little more height at the net to try and get some momentum

    • @mmaannuueellful
      @mmaannuueellful 2 года назад +1

      @@haplapngpGITM yeah that was my doubt cause you can go out and then in just once! But they did it more than once, so maybe is just a different rule they have on the Italian league, cause also they don’t make the change as a substitution, they change like liberos do🤔🤔

    they really should change up vibo's setter he's very inconsistent

    • @naymorningstar
      @naymorningstar 2 года назад +3

      I think people are making it too easy to blame the setter on losing Vibo's games when most other players are much bigger names and just as much responsible for losing games. Neither Douglas nor Borges are performing consistently enough, you would expect more from two long-time Brazilian internationals. Nishida is performing within the expectations, except for those you-know-who-types that think he would dominate the league. He has one of the lower hitting efficiencies among starting opposites, his services are either really good or not and is he a liability in block. Gualberto is barely an above-average spiker and blocker for a middle and a complete non-factor from the service line.
      For the rest are Candellaro and Rizzo the typical Italian players that are just kind of there, rarely adding much. Saitta could fall into that same category, basically any Italian player that hasn't been a part of the Italian NT for at least several years. Perhaps this team was just overestimated from the beginning.

    • @vasilismakris5305
      @vasilismakris5305 2 года назад

      @Nay I totally agree with you! And I would also like to ask you a question. Is Nishida one of the worst opposites this year hitting high off system balls? In my opinion , this is one of the most important aspects in the game for a hitter and especially the opposite and nishida in my eyes is bad ... even An unexperienced Garcia in lube is better in high balls

    • @naymorningstar
      @naymorningstar 2 года назад +1

      @@vasilismakris5305 Not necessarily? He's average, but he tends to get scared against tall 3 man blocks and just reverts to hitting it hard.

    Never understood the hype around Nishida. Yeah, he has an incredibly dynamic approach and looks really nice which makes for great highlight reels, but he's not very effective and since he's playing in Italy he gets blocked a ton when he attacks in an out of system play and the block can focus on him. I don't think he's among the top 25 oppos in the world.
