The ex and I went to visit friends in Belfast in the early 90's. They rarely cooked preferring to eat out or order in. After having perfect food every night for a week I commented to our host about the quality of the food being so good. He said, this is Belfast mate, the restaurants have to make sure that everything is spot-on or they get a hand grenade rolled into their kitchen, or the chef gets dragged out back and his knees shot out.
MSG is used in almost every takeaway. All MSG is, is a flavour enhancer that has been used in cooking for centuries. Using too much of it can be bad for you like using too much salt or spices can be. But all it does is make your food nicer and it’s why takeaways especially Asians ones have that signature umami flavour.
