@Gunscom I have a model 39 from my great grandfather and would really like to know where you got the tang sight? What do I need to look for to purchase one for my 39
Hi from over the pond. My Wife and I dropped lucky like you. We managed to purchase an 1897 Marlin just like yours with round barrel and a 39m with short octagonal barrel. Both great little rifles and a rarity here in the U.K.We love them both.
@@scottwilson5840 I have a 62 pump take down my father bought in 1957 and give to my uncle, also granddads 3040 krag jorgensen, and i've killed an elk with it.
I’ve got a 1955 39a, gets shot weekly. Tack driver, reliable and great for knocking off mesopredators. Take care of your rifles, they’ll last for decades
Am fortunate enough to be in possession of a Marlin Mod 39 ( no A )with Serial # S1360X. Marlin's website says it was born somewhere from 1923-25. It doesn't belong to me, just holding it and as i get closer to the curtain i'll be returning it to it's rightful owner. It too has a 24" octagonal barrel, 13" length of pull, and 40" over all length. It misfeds if rolled on it's side or cycled slowly, but held upright and worked normally, it's superbly accurate at 100 yds. with a cheap BSA 4-7 power scope. When it's together, it's difficult to see the mating lines A solid rifle . . . ☆
Marbles also makes a folding rear sight and taller front sights. I put them on a centennial model. Use the folding rear for 25 yards and the Tang sight for 75 yards etc.
My Model 39 has magazine where the outer tube slides up and locks in the open condition with a spring catch at the top of the inner magazine tube. It's a S-prefix 4 digit serial number, with a star* stamped in the tang. .
Great shootings plus a great old gun. This 39 is perfect in every sense. I actually prefer the 39 over the 39A & 39M. It's a real classic with colour case hardened plus the octagonal barrel. The peep sight makes it even nicer to shoot accurately. I wish we could find a gem like this in Canada. Thanks for making this video!
You need to research what you are talking about. The 39 was named so for the year it was first produced. Marlins first .22 lever gun was the 1891 sideloader. The 1891 was produced in what is considered 4 variations. Then the 1892 produced in 1895. Then the first take down .22 lever was the 1897. Then the 39, 39 S serial numbers and then the 39 HS serial for High Velocity. Then the 39A.
I inherited one of these from my dad who was born in 1915. It has the octagonal barrel and still fires great all the time.
Thank you for sharing about that beautiful old rifle with a lot of history in its soul.
Thought the guy was 90. Never mind great rifle there. Thank you for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it RD.
This is a rifle (or the 39a) that Ruger should bring back. I'd buy one for sure
Agreed. We do have 39's and 39A's on our site if you're interested.

Awesome rifle!! I have a golden 39A from the early 70's... love it and will never sell it! very accurate too!!! think i paid 175.00 for it...🙂
Wow! That's like an airgun!
I wish I had a 39
Hi, I have the 39A model made in 1946, in excellent condition. Whats it worth today?
Very nice.
The hammer has a half cock position like a single action revolver. THAT IS THE SAFETY!!!
What can you tell me about my 39 Century addition 1894 1994
So the gun and the guy are both 90??
Just like mine a pawn find

That looks like the bolt was replaced ?
The bolts are blued instead of color case, been that way forever on the 39's.
I don't believe you ruined a piece of history & a work of art by drilling and tapping the peep site. You should have used a more modern. .22.
