Hi Katharine & Erik, thanks for this useful summary! I echo your point on being in Italy to manage the house. We are still in London (thank you Brexit😢) and our renovation work is continually delayed, our geometra even admitted it to our (eco bonus) tax advisor: we get pushed to the back of the queue. However the work done so far is of a really high standard and we are really pleased with it.
I would love to see a similar Q&A on your guest concept….

In your introductory video, Katherine mentioned she had a big issue with a "bandit" realtor. Could you elaborate on this and/or pitfalls to be aware of?

Sorry for the misleading - we cut that part out, but the issue was that we got fooled by a real estate agent with bad intentions, so we lost the property and then had to pay a lot extra to get it back as it had been sold to someone else because of our bid.

@@livingthevillas Oh I see - sorry that happened to you. How maddening! I wonder how that kind of risk can be avoided given the fact that agents don't always have our best interest in mind - especially I imagine in cases involving foreign buyers. Not to pry, but was your bid accompanied by a deposit? If so, how come the contract wasn't binding at that point? By the way, my family and I enjoyed your videos very much and admire the houses you've renovated - so beautiful!
