Could you make a video explaining the magic penetration compared to MR (when you were talking about Shadowflame and using Vaynes 33 MR as an example), but more in-depth? I feel like I never really understand what any of those numbers and things actually mean in the game. I just know magic pen good, no magic pen bad.
It's all math. Each point of magic penetration mitigates one point of magic resist. When you deal magic damage it's calculated like this: Damage * (100/100+MR). So if your opponent has 33 magic resist, you will do 75% of your max damage. In the video, Zianni has ludens + sorc boots, which is 24 (6+18) so Vayne only has 9 magic resist to him. However, if he gets Shadowflame, he will get 5 more magic pen from Luden's passive (29) and Shadowflame causes your abilities to utilize an additional 10 magic penetration putting Vayne's Magic resistance at zero, meaning Vex's damage is effectively true damage into Vayne. cuz rank 1 ult is 100 sec CD, if he dies there the play is over anyways. Instead he lives at 1 then I get Lux Combo'd for 900. If I don't have ult I don't have solo kill pressure / roam potential for the next 2 minutes basically.

Why hold ult so long at 4:59? If you get a takedown on Graves you would have had the reset to keep going if you wanted more anyway.
