Same dude. I find one on my bed every week! Literally like on the dot, once one week passes I see ONE. It’s a trip. I’ve never dealt with these in this place I had for like well since 2004. I have no idea if they’re coming from somewhere else or where. I keep searching and can’t find crap.
Insects are a part of life. Best to leave them be if they're doing no harm to you. People need to learn to be ok with insects existing. Nature has a way of keeping a good balance, It's when people freak out and clear out a specific type that things get out of whack. I've had carpet beetles for over a decade but I see them rarely because there's plenty of spiders keeping them in check.
@@ogtrool I don't think that these two things have a relation. They come if you leave your windows long time open same with spiders. If you don't have attached a flies nest onto the window frame. And don't leave clothes abdoned on the ground or something. Just always keep them covered into samething, like a closet. Also don't leave dead insects on the ground. They come if these thing are staying still there for a long time. So if there is dust, dead insects and rarely used clothes. They eat everything that humans left over. They are basicly the cleaning service of the nature.
I don't allow them to live in my room but they live outside my windows. I see the occasional carpet beetle but I'm absolutely certain it would be far worse if there wasn't spiders living off them. That's nature for you, it's good at keeping its own balance. It's only when humans screw with nature by killing of insects that real infestations occur.
I've seen them around my bed for YEARS. A few weeks ago I finally decided to deal with it since I had been finding multiple adult beetles in my bed every day. I washed everything on the bed, even taking apart the frame, and vacuuming all the gaps underneath. I still occasionally find one somewhere, but it's nowhere near as bad. I'll probably tackle different areas of my room to see if I can get rid of more. I can't imagine them being in my drawers with clothes, but if they are O.O.
Ya i would not just keep letting them infest more one beetle can lay 100 eggs at once so imagine how quick these thing produce. U def want to stick some powder down or somethong or u will start to feel like u have bed bugs they get that bad
This is really messed up. I kept seeing these around my bedroom until it kept happening more frequently. I finally found this video today and found them around the base of the walls. I can't find the source of it though. This is so disgusting and things like this freaks me out. I'm going to clean everything and vacuum. I might even get my rug professionally deep cleaned or rent the rug doctor. Ughhh this is so stressful! I am going to sleep on the couch tonight :(
Have you found the source yet? We started the same. Deep cleaning every where because it started with a few adults here and there and after doing all this research I said nope! Time to go through absolutely everything! Which is beyond stressful after just having a baby two months ago. We took apart and deep cleaned our sectional and found about 15 in there but I feel there hiding in places I'm not seeing 😭 I feel I'm going crazy as if I can't stop or won't be satisfied with all we've done so far until I find a ton in one place.
@@karaboo22 I found the source and they were all in my closet! I had to throw out 90% of my clothes and lost hundreds of dollars worth of stuff. I was absolutely devastated but, I sleep better at night knowing it's under control now. I make sure to keep up with cleaning and spraying ritually with peppermint oil which carpet beetles hate. I hope you found the source and that all is well now! Best of luck!
Spend under 7 bucks on a gallon of APPLE CIDER VINEGAR .I started seeing them on my couch like one or two. Then 3 at a time... I came straight to You Tube I cleaned as directed and then only seen one in two days. I discovered they were coming in through the windowsill in my apartment. there were several there trying march on in. I sprayed my couch, carpet and window and back door all around. Those caught in the cross-fired died and those that saw me coming retracted and I'm not sure they lived to talk about it. My landlord said the pest control couldn't come until 4/5/23. I notified her on 3/30. If it wasn't for the vinegar, I would have broken my lease that I just signed and left like a thief in the night No discoloration or damage after my 3-day treatment. I still have 3 days to wait for help, so I put a vinegar soaked rag in the windowsill and sprayed the window frame from top to bottom. All I see is dead beetles and I took pictures. I know If they're coming in mine they have got to be in other units. There's even a dead fly so I now pests are trying to come the same way. I'm still getting rid of my couch. I'm not bringing anything in there until they seal this place up.
Thats why i kill them. They only make dirt and are not helpful. Just creeping around my face or around my bed, but mostly die at they own because they use the shitiest places for catching they "food".
Ewwwwwww my whole apartment is carpets. I saw one on my couch just now and two on the wall the other day. I have a cat & dog and they shed a lot. I vacuum often but omg I’m going to go cry and puke 🤮 😭
I found one of the larva on my wall a couple years ago and didn't see anything else since then, but now I have seen 3 adults on my bed over the span of a week.
Anyone dealing with this, please CHECK YOUR DISHWASHER! Pull it out from the cabinet, almost all dishwashers have a thick cotton sheet that goes around it for insulation.
@@vincentkingsdale8334 DIshwashers typically have a cotton padding around them for insulation and sound deadening, it's a warm moist environment with food for the beetles. Kept having recurring issues and this is where I found them.
@@vincentkingsdale8334 I pulled all the insulation out, you may have to remove one from the front panel as well. Take pictures along the way so you remember what insulation goes where, then douse it with apple cider vinegar and put it in a contractor bag for a few weeks. Putting it in a bag may not be necessary, but I wanted it out of the house while I was looking for other problem areas. This was the last spot for me, I have not had any issues for over a year.
Me too i saw them every one and Then under my Bed and Thought cleaning would remove them . Now found them everywhere under my Bed and 100 of larvae in my Clothes( that i kept under the Bed)
Now I'm terrified, I keep finding them in my room, they might be under my bed 😬 I told my parents and luckily we are moving soon so we are just gonna wait till then
Oh god. That sounds disgusting. How often did you clean that area? I’m worried that’s gonna happen if I search. But I only find like 1 every week or so. I don’t know where they come from??!! Urghhh I hate other organic goopy squishy life forms.
how can one find the source of the carpet beetles? I notice them very periodically. like maybe one a week or two. the only time I've found them in something was when one ate a little groove out of some upholstery foam.
I started noticing a few a couple of weeks ago. Mostly in my bedroom, but not sure where they would come from. I just did all my laundry just in case they were in there somewhere. I also cleaned out cupboards and found them in the rice but not enough to consider that the source of infestation. Do they like to live in dry food? I had a bag of rotten potatoes that I couldn't figure out was rotting (I was searching for this smell for days) and above that location are quite a few dead ones but not sure that could be the source either.
Those are probably weevils but carpet beetles also like cereal and can appear in cabinets. They say that they can wander from their food source so you end up seeing them on the counters and floor
You shouldn't kill spiders. They're the only thing keeping you from having infestations. Nature has a balance, it's only when humans mess with that balance that things become an issue.
These things are so annoying. They're showing up in the bedrooms but we can't find the source of where they're coming from. I got rid of the ones in my room for a month but now they're back!
They’ve Been in my bed, infesting the headboard, coffee table in the living area, kitchen cabinets, bathroom and closet. They fly up my nose and my ears in my mouth & my cat’s ears. They’re insidious. I can’t believe all the advice points at *one* infestation, what if your whole house is infested LOL also instruction to throw away vacuum bags after each use?!? My vacuum bags are $26.06. Spending $$ on laundry & have a pile for dry cleaning-running me broke. Sigh. Help!
@@mulliganstew72 use backing soda all over ,carpet, matress, each corner. You can leave it on the carpet few days und than clean, ist non toxic and than repeat .Baking soda deydrate insects not smels and is natural.
There were loads when I moved into my house last August, it was left empty for months. Thought I got rid of them all but I've only seen about 10 adults over the past month. Feel like all I ever do is clean! 😆
Do u see them in the windows ? Last aug is wjem i saw my first one under my ac unit so i killed m now 9 months later im seeing a bunch. I finally figured out where there nest is or i think its in the middle part of the window in the strippings hoping the baking soda and alcohol that i sprayed in there will help finally get rid if these pests for good. Ive had enough of these things.

Unfortunately it only takes one beetle to start a whole new cycle though so until I have not seen one for about a month then I will say there about gone for good lol if u have not tried that baking soda and Diatomaceous earth food grade kind u should give it a go it works wonders for bugs

who has the time, money, or energy to do this because i certainly don't. all these videos are tips it seems physically impossible to do, let alone in an apartment, and then they tell you to call a professional and buy products off the posters site.
@Lèmon Lēe You can generally kill them in the short term and suppress their activity. Solutions like diatomaceous dust or boric you can apply but don't expect results for at least a few days to a week, it takes time for the beetles and larva to die that way (I captured some and trapped them in a pit of the stuff to see if it would actually work, and the adults died a lot faster than the larvae did). Benefit of it is that you can leave the stuff in places you normally don't clean anyways and it'll work. Rubbing alcohol, or rubbing alcohol + essential oils is another thing that people have brought up before. It does work, whether you mix it or not - this is more than likely due to the desiccant nature of the rubbing alcohol (but some people insist that the essential oil has an odour that drives them away). Again I tested this as well - direct spray kills within a minute, and when I tried to see if it would drive them away, it did seem like the adults would panic and run wildly when I tried to seal them in a cup with rubbing alcohol vapour. Problem is, rubbing alcohol evaporates quickly, so while it can instantly kill adults, larva, and even the eggs, you need to be able to find them and spray them. If you "get lucky" and they're all in one place, you can kill them in one fell swoop with just a bit of rubbing alcohol.
@@spiralations7304 I did as much cleaning as I could. All my clothes now just live in plastic and I hate it. I bought ortho home defense and then the pro recommended nygaurd plus. The whole thing cost me quite a bit even excluding the mattress replacement which you don't normally have to do. I am lucky I have vinyl floor and an all synthetic area rugs. I'm never going to buy wool anything after this. It's a miracle textile for water and temperature and sustainability but I'm not sure I'm ever going to see it as anything other than carpet beetle food first.
Ahh! After years of seeing these at a relative's property, and now seeing them in mine for over a year, I finally know what they actually are..! Thing is, I don't have rugs or carpets, but have noticed holes in my pj's, and have seen the little beetles on my clothes. I never knew what they were; I used to call them "tiny ladybird looking speckled things". Had one crawling on my Bible today so that's when I'd had enough n thought I'd investigate - you mess with my Bible; you messin' with me. I think I'll try the vinegar thing that's been mentioned a few times..
My problem is earwigs I'm just hear to see what these were since their in same family. How did vinegar do? I put alcohol & water mixed and put in sprayer and I haven't seen any bug yet. Also placed moth balls in basement and around house. Best thing I ever used was alcohol/water spray
That requires so much hard work!! All this cleaning and laundering would take me over a month lol specially with my “mother’s thumb” condition. How long do they usually take to start causing damage? So far we’ve seen four black carpet beetle larvae in different rooms and few varied adults everyday in the kitchen :( the adults started showing up mid March
It is… & throwing away a vacuum bag on a daily basis? My vacuum bags cost $26 bucks for 6 bags!! I don’t think so. This is a never ending chore too because there’s different stages. This advice is impractical. Every single video/blog says to do it too. I’m going to hide my silks,, leather & fur in an airtight storage bin and call it good.
@@mulliganstew72 Hi, I'm in New Zealand and I've got them too. I can't afford to throw away the bags either so i give a good squirt of fly spray down the hose with the vacumn going. leave it outside for a few days then empty it.
I'm currently dealing with this. I found 12 adults and larvae throughout the carpeting of my room and have found some in my bed crawling. I think it might be my windows cuz they're drafty
I found them on a hair brush I had lost that had left over hair on it, vacuumed the carpet before I spayed the carpet with vinegar it seemed to work well
Guys. I was looking for something in my car... I reached my hand under the seat and they were there... dozens on them. I pulled my hand out and boom they came out too...😥 I freaked out. My car was given to me by friends and hadn’t noticed anything like that EVEN before they gave it to me. I’ve had my car a little over a year so idk when OR HOW they got in. I am a clean person... in fact, I just vacuumed my car like a week before I found them. So now, I sit with my steamer steaming any and every thing from my car. It is the most terrifying thing...
@@dondonz2827 yah so you’ll have to steam your carpet ... BUT ILL BE HONEST with you bc of the nature of this lil larve to may have to professionals to see how deep in the insulation’s they’ve gotten
I found over 6 larva in my bedroom today, most were dead but i did find a couple of live ones. I have no idea how they couldve gotten in, but i have a weird feeling they might be in other rooms. I have alot of blankets and pillows and other soft or fuzzy things in my room, im worried those things will damage my more treasured items, like clothing or my mattress. Im currently freaking out and can "feel" them walking up my legs and arms even though They’re not there. After reading some of the comments i am now scared to sleep 😭
I haven’t seen any of these bugs, and I haven’t seen bedbugs either. However, I am getting blood dots on my pillowcase and my mattress, and occasionally I will get what seems like bites on my chest in my arms. Apartment pest control came out and he couldn’t see any bedbugs on my mattress or the boxspring or my chair. He said I don’t have bedbugs and he even looked at the floorboards and we didn’t see a single thing. I reached out to a bedbug specialist here on RUclips who has every incentive to sell me his pesticide, you may know who it is. I sent him a bunch of photos and told him my situation and even he said I don’t have bedbugs. He said it sounds like a carpet beetle infestation. Thing is, that doesn’t seem to explain the blood dots and the smear from a couple days ago. I have like six rusty brown small blood dots it doesn’t seem like the kind of thing that comes off of your body.. On top of that, you said bed bugs will leave behind the shells, and that’s exactly what I have found. There have been several in my box spring, and I will find some around the house. Very microscopic though you can only really confirm when you get really close with your eye or you take a photo with a macro lens. What does this sound like to you? I know for a fact I found a blood smear in my filing cabinet next to my bedroom, in a place that a human finger can’t even get to. So definitely confirmation of a blood streak from an insect. However, I have had that filing cabinet since I was five years old so there’s no telling how old that was. Although it was still red in color so you would think at least for the past year or 3.
My other problem is, I don’t see holes in my clothing either. Not commonly. I have seen some in my last apartment which would’ve been just six months ago when I lived there. But I’m not seeing any damage to my bedsheets whatsoever.
@@dylanneicho9699 YeH I know. And I don’t have bedbugs. The blood on the sheet must have somehow been from me without knowing. Who knows what happens when you sleep. But the blood in the filing cabinet is truly a mystery. Had that thing since I was a child so I chucked it out my window and tossed it in the dumpster lol.
Dude, thats defo bed bugs. U cant have bed bug shells without the bed bugs. all other signs point to that. seams like at very start of infestation, and u caught it at beginin. at start, u bring in one bed bug, then it goes on from there. so theres not guna b loads of them to find, and poop everywhere like thw crazy bad infestations. u gota hoover, and steam as much as u can. bed bugs ONLY eat blood. so they have to bite u to grow and continue, so if ur getting bit, u know they still about.
I've been dealing with them and it's fucked with me so bad that my sleeping isn't good the first time I seen one was february and now that it's gotten warm a bunch of them keep showing up I've been killing them and they get on my bed and on my covers I cleaned most things in my room but it's so much more that need to do and they are coming from outside but I've closed my windows and they still was coming up
I started seeing them on my carpet and sometimes they made their way onto my bed. I haven’t seen any larvae yet. I deep cleaned my carpet and washed all my bedding and I can’t find the source of the bugs so I’m scared.
Thank you so much. Ive been finding them around our house for months now and ive told her we likely had an infestation and she never listened until a few minutes ago when i found a drawer of my clothes woth a bunch in the bottom

I have found a few adults in my bedroom. They look like black and brown lady bigs like the one in this video. I have also woke up with spots that I thought were mosquito bites but it’s probably the larvae and their spikes. So annoying and these little pests fly around. I don’t know where they are coming from but I’m going to find out.
The itchy rash from the larvae is the worst. Ive torn my room apart and sprayed vacuumed washed everything about 10 times and still am getting the rash. I freaked the morning i woke up with a spot on my eyelid. Know a bug was crawling on my face made me freak out
Ive recently noticed carpet beetles kicking about my flat. At first a few were under my couch, and found sheddings in my tv unit, and in my desk in my spare room. (So far none in the bedroom thank god). Then lately Ive noticed them around my kitchen floor a little more and more appearing my livivng room. Vacuumed them up and emptied the vaccuum out my flat but at night I notice more larvae on the floor. So i deep clean my kitchen (found them in surpising places in my drawers), then decided to pull my fridge, washing machine and finally, the cooker. There were a bunch of adults and larvae under the cooker but I clearly needed to clean under it so soaaked them up with the vacuum hose, wiped down the sides and cleaned the floor underneath (did the same with the other appliances) and wiped down the cooker. Hopefully Ive elimated a source but Ive ordered an insecticide that will hopefully prevent further ones for now.
Should I do anything if I can't find any in my house and I'm not noticing any signs of them but I stayed in a house that had them (and slept in a bed that had a bunch of exoskeletons of them. I didn't sleep under the covers because I brought my own blanket) for a week? I didn't know about it until after I left
I had this problem last year. The black ones. I discovered larvas in crevises of my bed, under every baseboard all over the house, and under drawers. Luckily, not many alive ones, mostly endoskeletons, but there were HUNDREDS of them (visible only in magnification). Also a few dead adult beetles in the ceiling lamps. After googling and discovering carpet beetles eat dust, I moved all the furniture, removed all baseboards, took cabinets off the walls and vacuumed averything I could. Then I sprayed everything with bug killing sprays, normal ones and the capsule ones. At the end I filled spaces between floorboards and the walls (around 5 mm gap) under baseboards with sillicone, so no dust could gather there, and these fuckers never returned. All in all, it could be much worse - they could have been bedbugs, lice, cockroaches... From what I've read they also dont tolerate temperatures below 20 C, so opening windows in the winter for a day should also help. Maybe thats why most of them, when I discovered the infestation, were already dead - they procreate only in the summer.
Also I recently read that insects dont like Iris Spring soap. Do shavings and put in ankle socks and put in drawers, hang in closets etc also said makes house smell good. Im going to try this
Just because you see a few in your house especially around Windows/Windowsills it doesn’t mean you have an infestation. They can fly. During the summer they often come out and fly in my windows but they’ll gradually go away over the course of summer.
I’ve been seeing them more frequently than last summer for sure. And I just cleaned my room. Should I do a more deep clean? Or should I just wait until winter and if they disappear I won’t panic
@@secretgarden8550 honestly, judge it by how many you see, is it just a few at a time? If so I wouldn’t worry about them. I always seem to get them in summer then they go towards winter. Where have you been getting them? They can fly so they may pop up here and there.
same. Only found about 4 adults (mainly dead). No larvae whatsoever. I know exactly where they’re coming from (windows in one specific room). All I can do is spray periodically and call it a day. The window isn’t broken, so not much to do there

@DocMc Stuffins I dont think carpet beetles attach to humans or animals. More likely they might be coming in through a window or ac when its off. . I think if you see a lot of it than there might be an infection somewhere in your house. . I only see like maybe 1-6 beetles during the night time

Curious as to why most anyone I tell has never heard of carpet Beetles! Even Home Depot! Every product sold is for bedbugs. I have been doing everything I can to get rid of these beetles. My water bill has doubled because I have to do laundry every day. I think these beetles are surviving the hot water and heat of dryer though. They are imbedded in blankets, etc. I bought a steamer to spray my mattresses and it has helped but bringing back clean laundry still gets infected. I finally relented and have bagged my new bedding and will be throwing it away. I have washed sheets and towels and clothes and they still have beetles imbedded in the fabric. I have spent hours trying to salvage my favorite things. I am exhausted. Everyone asks why I don’t call an exterminator? I did before and they told me to do what I’ve been doing. I bought waterproof mattress covers that I just put on both beds. I woke up this morning and there weren’t any larvae or beetles next to me. However they seem to be beetling to find somewhere else to continue. Cannot forget to mention that I put on clean clothing yesterday for work and the infestation was riddling me all day and I was itching. I have irritations all over my skin now. I just want to get rid of these beetles!!! It looks like I can buy the products but then are there extra spray tools, pump and bottles that I provide for myself? I am desperate here!!

yall i REALLY need help like under my bed there's a bad infestation.... it used to be really bad under there like i had clothes under there, i had dishes and trash and all types of stuff and i had been seeing them for almost a year or more now on my bed and i thought they were coming from the window because i see them on the window sill too. but one day i started cleaning under my bed and i saw more than 20 larvae just at the foot of the bed and i saw sheddings in EVERYYYTHINGGG. now everything is out from under my bed i washed it all i organised everything but i see like 10 adults in my bed every day they got all in my stuffed animals and they keep rising from the crack between my bed and the wall and going on my bed i sprayed raid down under that opening and they stopped coming up for a bit. but then i saw some sort of WASP COME UP FROM THERE i drowned it in raid and it died it wasn't flying it was just crawling up i have a picture i don't know what it was i thought it was a fly at first but it wasn't built like one.... and the crazy thing is they started rising up more from the openings once i cleared everything up from under my bed i haven't vacuumed under there yet or anything but its gonna be very difficult to do so.. i have been sleeping in the dining chair because i am terrified of them they are literally everywhere and i don't want them to crawl in my ass or my ears or my mouth or something when I'm sleeping... i just want my bed back like i cannot do this i am haunted every tickle on my skin i think its them... i just hope they're not in my mattress or anything i see some holes in clothes they are not in my wardrobe though i cleaned that out earlier and i did not see one shedding or larvae or nothing, i only had holes in the clothing under my bed that i had left but I'm very very scared.
Nice so I just found out I have both larvaes the ones from the black Beatles and the orange ones 😀 HELPP I HATE THEM AND I JUST STRESS BEING IN MY ROOM THEY ARE ALL OVER THE CARPET
I'm actually getting rid of my carpet beetles as we speak have a Shop-Vac vacuum the baseboards along my room then after I'm hitting it with the carpet steam cleaner and these little bastards are getting sucked up I'm in my Killer Instinct mode right now. #Judgement
I have never seen an adult in my house but I find a larvae every so often for years like in a shirt or on a floor or in a drawer or something. Nothing bad just every few weeks I'll see you a little Dot and it's one of the larvae striped.
I don't have money to wash everything I own at high temps (and I think this would ruin a lot of things I own as I have a lot of vintage and delicate clothing), and my neighbour who has had them too says that bagging fabric items for several days will kill any live bugs? This dude doesn't mention it but I think it's worth a shot? Also do we not have to worry about any synthetic fabrics? Not sure what the deal is with that! Anyway pls someone let me know if putting all my shit in sealed double-bags for a week will achieve anything. And sending love to everyone suffering in the comments, I'm with you in frustration
All that i read said extreme temperatures (boiling hot or extremely cold) would work…just containing materials (clothing, etc) in a double-bag won’t do it. Good luck!
I’m honestly 1 bug away from a serious mental breakdown. We have had 16 in total 4 of them are larvae 🐛. We managed to sprinkle and spray baking soda all over beds, skirting boards , doors etc and we have still been finding them. Our rental agency won’t pay for an exterminator and I feel we definitely have an infestation. We can’t find the source of the problem , we don’t have carpets or a window that opens yet we have them. We only started with this problem in March of this year and now it feels like we will never get rid of them. I’m so scared I’m going to find holes in my clothes and we cannot afford to replace anything . Even if we could afford to move I would be terrified of taking them with us. I’m even scared to visit family incase I take them with me on my clothes. Desperately need help!
@@ZH-fp9oj hey , well not really a solution, I emailed my rent agency but they did nothing so basically I tore the place apart and cleaned aggressively, took off the baseboards in the kitchen vacuumed them and then tossed baking soda under there as that supposed dissolves them . Once I’d done that I got some sealant and sealed all the cracks around the baseboards and door frames. I still turn the lights on at night and early morning to have a quick check as we live in a studio so not much to check but I do it thoroughly.
Have you looked into your rental tenant laws in your area? Where I live, if the landlord refuses to handle an infestation, the tenet can get it documented (by getting professional pest control inspection) and document any treatment needed and their cost. This can then be sent to your landlord to be compensated by prorating to your rent. If your afraid of retaliation, you can also send in this documentation before your planned relocation or take it to small claims. As for treatment, a light dusting of diatomaceous earth in cracks and surfaces works really well. Good luck.
My sister told me they can come in on packages, flower deliveries, etc. She’s been dealing with them in a beautiful house! It’s typical that your rental company won’t pay. They wash their hands if this stuff, even at the health expense of the people on the house! I had mold, a full report, yet my condo company would not remediate, because I already had it done so I could move out since my health was severely compromised, and they didn’t see anything. The woman who sold me the condo was so ill, her family moved her out, and the people I sold it to have moved out within 2 years. Mold and these types of things are hush-hush ! It makes me sick how they run from anything that may cost them a penny!
Moved into a new dorm and so far found I 3, I’m confused cause I don’t even have a carpet yet and don’t know where they are coming from also I was pissed cause I didn’t know what they were
@@amber9960 I have been in this mode of pure survival for three months in a fairly new apartment (first resident) and person above us had them. It is the worst nightmare that no-one could understand unless they are living the daily life of it. I have an allergy to the larvae (dermatitis) that I could only identify on U-tube; no dermatologist can diagnose something they've never dealt with. My arms and legs are scarred in a purple color. We now have three types of them in different stages...how do they just appear on your sheets and blankets every morning? The apartment has a contract with Orkin. SO, no other company will come out because it's a "conflict of interest." They say my daily containers of samples are "trash!" They do eat through heavy freezer ziplock bags that are put in new, expensive Hefty totes. Who can afford 50 of the $40 airtight/waterproof little ones. If we move, we're just taking them with us. Im gonna cry they wont go away. I find a carpet beetle larvae or just a carpet beetle once every 3-4 days and its driving me insane. SOMETIMES ON MY BED.
i usually get these bugs around spring, aka march-april. its january and its colder than ever and i just saw one while i was laying in bed. im guessing all of my clothes have larvae since its by what i presume to be the infection spot, i even got a reaction yesterday from wearing a top that was near it. ive only seen adults and never seen larvae, but since my floors are old carpet im pretty sure its every where.
Me too. Why January with snow. They can hibernate under old carpet in low income apartments and usually come out in April and May. Worst part is I have sub terrian ants from outside coming thru hvac vent under kitchen sink. I hate low income housing cuz they don't care. If a professional comes out, they spray all baseboards and tell you to vaccuum all floors every day for 2 weeks. And never keep dirty clothes with clean. This will be 3rd time replacing my clothes, sheets. Polester is great, but if there is cotton thread, they will eat cotton thread out of elastic. Everyone is destroyed again.

I've never seen any larvae but i see a couple on my walls or flying around every few weeks and im so tired of it. I can't find the food source either because I've never eaten in my bedroom before so how are they still alive
Try to find the husks, and that might be the source of where they are coming from. Another tip, like in the video is to put small glue traps in areas you suspect they might be. You can even put a very tiny piece of fabric in the middle. Unfortunately they can come from the walls, like power outlets. But since you are seeing so few, and your upkeep on them is good, no need to over stress. Just be vigilant
Should I be worried if I’ve seen 3 adults and 1 larvae in the last 2 months? Would that be cause for infestation? It started when I left my bedroom window open all day accidentally

I have been finding maybe 1-2 dead carpet beetles on the windowsill no larvae in the last month. Mostly in the upstairs bedrooms (windowsills) I found 2 that were alive last week one in my closet on a blouse and one in the master bathroom wall since then I have literally cleaned everything and looked everywhere and haven’t found larvae. My pest control company sprayed and told me not to worry that I don’t have an infestation but I can’t stop thinking about these darn bugs and looking for them everywhere ugh it’s exhausting. Did anyone have the same experience of only finding a few here and there on windowsills but no larvae?

I was told that it was normal to see more carpet beetles once they spray because they react to the chemical and start coming out of their hiding places . However, if you are seeing a lot of them you can request them to spray again after 2 weeks. I have a different pest control company coming out tomorrow for a free inspection to get a second opinion on what they think of the treatment the other company did is actually working and what I am seeing is normal or if they recommend a different treatment. I have rugs in my room but i haven’t noticed any places They could come from, its been less and less each year but they Always show up on my bed, i’ve also found their shells on the ground outside my room before, each year I clean and try to get rid of them but they always come back :(
What I wish I could find out is whether the hairs of the larvae could still cause skin rashes even if they are gone... we have had carpet beetles for a year now (I brought them back from a hotel we stayed at), and we never would have known except that I wake up with itchy spots every single morning. They go away after a few hours. We see plenty of adults, so out efforts have been in vain so far, but do the larva hairs stick around for a while? If I am this allergic to them, would I still have reactions even if they were gone?
You have to steam. And I would toss anything (comforters, sheets, etc.) you think they are in/on... reason being the hairs could be mixed into the fibers of your fabrics EVEN if they are gone...
Thank you--and that is actually sort of good news! I would rather they be gone than have the few morning itchy spots go away. We would probably have to burn the house down to really truly get rid of every sign of them (and we have joked about it, ha), but we're moving soon, and I am buckling down on spraying and soon steaming--not a carpet or upholstery cleaner, but just a plain steamer for basic cleaning.
@@christinashelby6083 a plain steamer will not work as it does not get hot enough. I bought the vapamore steamer and I go over my rugs regularly as I am highly allergic to the black bristles and yes they do stick around for awhile even after the bugs and larvae are gone.
So I’ve discovered them about 2 months ago i think and for me they usually come out during the night, and ill feel them on me during the night. It’s not every night it’s like here and there but when i see them i just kill them and go back to sleep. But I didn’t know what they were so last night i went searched like crazy online what they might be and an hour later I found out that they were carpet bugs. But i have a rug and I always clean it every week soooo....like why are they there. Then i seen this video and it said something about open windows and my window is always open but i have a screen on it...soooo i need help!!!!!
As a little girl who grew up with huge water bugs, these little beetles are nothing. Nothing but a nuisance. 3 yrs ago a friends aunt died. She cleaned out her house and gave me a refrigerator box full of yarn. I was in hog heaven 😂. I immediately brought it in the house and started going through it. Didn’t see any bugs but wasn’t really looking for any. A few weeks after that she told me about an estate sale and a room full of yarn. I got about 200 skeins of yarn for 20 bucks. The next year I started noticing these little bugs flying around my craft room. Caught one and did some research. Yup. Varied carpet beetles. I immediately suspected the yarn. Which batch it came from IDK. I’m an old lady with chronic back pain and there’s no way I can do all that cleaning. Can’t afford to hire anyone to do it for me and no family to help out. The few friends I have are also old and disabled so they can’t help. I’m stuck inside a sh*t show with no end in sight. There are a few things I’ve noticed. They come out as soon as I turn on the light first thing in the morning. If I leave the light off they come out an hour or two later when the sun rises and lights up the room. They fly around for approx 2 hrs and then I don’t see them again until the next morning. They (hibernate?) through fall and winter, coming out in the spring. I catch and kill. Typically kill around 20 before they disappear for the day.
If I just found one on my bed and have seen no others and have no wholes or anything? Is it possible there was just one be wise I'm stressed out and I really need to sleep
We have had a carpet beetle problem for over 2 years. Have had PEST CONTROL (2) come out, atomized the ealls and entire house, vacuum every day, wash linens and clothes every day, to no avail. Bedrooms are carpeted and pulling back the pile the bottom of the carpet locks black. Like a million bugs! Also something is leaving a brown stain on walls and floors and very hard to get off. I find, what looks like water spots on my floors but is a sticky substance. We find definate carpet beetles and larva, but also white or yellowish eggs . Some look like string, othets are round blobs. Even have something that looks like feathers. Any suggestions?
I kept finding them randomly and I used to find a bunch of dead ones on my bathroom floor, I thoroughly cleaned everywhere and checked for signs of them, had the extremist spray and check as well and I haven’t seen any since. I believe they were coming in at the baseboard underneath my bedroom window, some of the carpet there looks kind of ruined and it sees no foot traffic and has no staining etc because no one goes on that side of the bed. I’m a very clean guy in all aspects so seeing these really triggered me. Thankfully I seemed to have figured things out for now.
Some people can show allergy to their tiny scales or to the "hair" the larvae have. And as Lemon Lee told, larvae eat any fabric or cloth they find, leaving some holes. But outside that they are not harmful
If you have a cat, keep them away from this insecticide bc it will kill your cat. My exterminator didn’t check to be sure what I had and used a growth regulator in my house. Fast forward I have carpet beetles and the worst thing you could spray with is an IGR bc the larvae is what causes the problems. I am highly allergic to them so I welt up like crazy and they like my hair 😢
I have found these little fuzzy guys on my heater. I had lots of dust and crumbs and they were just eating it. I found another one today and apparently they are keeped as pets!? Who keeps these are pers lol

Same!! I’m like a minimalism now and I still keep seeing them. I wish I had inspected this house before buying 😕
I feel you right now.
Bruh i feel you!!!😭literally itching everywhere. Scratching my head and covering my ears💀
I notice spiders show up to eat these things then they both disappear for awhile as much as I don't like spiders I appreciate their service
this is why I don't kill house spiders! They get rid of house pests that invade your home during the colder seasons.
idk what kind of spiders you have. But if i see a spider near any of those bugs. They just don't care.
@@MrGTAmodsgerman lol. I had some spiders in my room and I decide kill them and now I had these carpet beetles
They are often in furniture. And definitely check your clothes especially wool and cotton. The larva feeds on it.
Ya i would not just keep letting them infest more one beetle can lay 100 eggs at once so imagine how quick these thing produce. U def want to stick some powder down or somethong or u will start to feel like u have bed bugs they get that bad

How about diatomaceous earth?
how can one find the source of the carpet beetles?
I think the rice ones are bowl weevils not carpet beetles. They usually show up in dry grains
Those are probably weevils but carpet beetles also like cereal and can appear in cabinets. They say that they can wander from their food source so you end up seeing them on the counters and floor
what is in your cabinet may be weevils. if you crush them they smell sweet, and they will show up in powdered like flours
They also get into dog food
Thinking about carpet beetles makes me almost want to take longer to kill spiders in my apartment. Every year I get closer to not killing them.
You shouldn't kill spiders. They're the only thing keeping you from having infestations. Nature has a balance, it's only when humans mess with that balance that things become an issue.

@Lèmon Lēe I haven't seen any almost a month but I'm terrified of how long that will last. I never did manage everything in this video

Bit late but carpet beetles don't bite so there shouldn't be blood. Sounds like bed bugs
@@dylanneicho9699 YeH I know. And I don’t have bedbugs. The blood on the sheet must have somehow been from me without knowing. Who knows what happens when you sleep.

Know a bug was crawling on my face made me freak out
Steaming with a hand held steamer?
Will Suspend work?
How about the ceiling? They often drop onto my floor and I found them hiding in my spotlights and track holder. Can they stay on the ceiling walls?
YES. I find them all the time dropping from my ceiling and attaching themselves to the light fixture.
Yes they hide in the outlets .i read to put cimina powder in the outlets and along baseboards . Use a puffer type thing. And wear a mask. Look it up
Also I recently read that insects dont like Iris Spring soap. Do shavings and put in ankle socks and put in drawers, hang in closets etc also said makes house smell good. Im going to try this
That should say ankle hosiery not socks. Its a battle for sure

You can put moth balls in the sealed bags. That will kill them.
Did you guys find a solution? I know it’s been awhile since your post.
Try using Bayer suspend polyzone with genetrol added as a growth inhibitor
What if you don’t have a dryer? Is it fine to wash your clothes, fabrics at high heat in the washing machine?

Make sure you vacuum under couches more than once. I found one beetle but like 25 larvae under my couch
SO, no other company will come out because it's a "conflict of interest." They say my daily containers of samples are "trash!" They do eat through heavy freezer ziplock bags that are put in new, expensive Hefty
totes. Who can afford 50 of the $40 airtight/waterproof little ones. If we move, we're just taking them with us. HELP!
i changed my carpet and sealed the window openings and lower wall openings but i still keep finding one once every couple of days or so. i also sprayed home defense around those openings. idk what else to do at this point
@Lèmon Lēe yea i washed and sprayed my bed furniture as well and wiped my other furniture
@Lèmon Lēe i hadn’t seen them for over 2 months until one last week :(

I’d love to know how the heck these got into my car!! 😳 I thought they came off flowers I bought but I didn’t know exactly what they were.
Im gonna cry they wont go away. I find a carpet beetle larvae or just a carpet beetle once every 3-4 days and its driving me insane. SOMETIMES ON MY BED.
I have found two of them; both appeared on my chest while I was laying in my bed. I haven’t seen any others; and I searched well.
did you search under your bed?Or under your mattress
The larvae or the beetle itself?
@GoldensunHey! Do you notice how other beetle species can sometimes be stuck upside down and they would just keep trying to get up haha
i usually get these bugs around spring, aka march-april. its january and its colder than ever and i just saw one while i was laying in bed. im guessing all of my clothes have larvae since its by what i presume to be the infection spot, i even got a reaction yesterday from wearing a top that was near it. ive only seen adults and never seen larvae, but since my floors are old carpet im pretty sure its every where.
And my back is a mess with hives. Ugh
And be sure to vaccuum to pick up all hairs cuz lavre, not insects feed off hair and dead skin.
@@shellyslioneyes Hell yea friend. my place is a shit hole!!! iv have it bloody all, freakin mice running fru the walls, and silverfish, carpet beetles, so much BS.no carpets in provided. just bare floor boards. with gaps, u can see shit under the boards, big holes everywhere, huge cracks and shitat base boards, these have to be coming fru the gaps in the boards, and eating hair n dustthat falls fru the gaps n i cnt hoover up. they just cum up. im convinced. saw my cat catching them cumin up fru a ga once, one, then another. dnt think it was a coincidence, recon it was where they come from!!!

I've never seen any larvae but i see a couple on my walls or flying around every few weeks and im so tired of it. I can't find the food source either because I've never eaten in my bedroom before so how are they still alive
Look up online. There are many resources they like
Clothing, any natural fibers are food source.
If you only find very little lava over a few months, and you are on top of cleaning and there are no signs like holes etc... Do you need to worry?
Try to find the husks, and that might be the source of where they are coming from. Another tip, like in the video is to put small glue traps in areas you suspect they might be. You can even put a very tiny piece of fabric in the middle. Unfortunately they can come from the walls, like power outlets. But since you are seeing so few, and your upkeep on them is good, no need to over stress. Just be vigilant
Should I be worried if I’ve seen 3 adults and 1 larvae in the last 2 months? Would that be cause for infestation? It started when I left my bedroom window open all day accidentally
yes, if you dont take care of the few you see now, the more there will be later if you havent done somethin already
Do you have it still? I left my window open I saw only 3 adult size I’m a clean freak always vacuuming and changing sheets I hope it’s just from the window 😫 never will leave open windows again
@@Alsolo1010 what happened???
They eat any natural fibres, cotton, linen, wool etc, they don’t eat polyester!
i keep findings these on my wall above my pc im sacred they will eat the wires will they and what should i do?
if they’re carpet beetles they more than likely will not eat the wires because they eat fabric
y’all i can’t do this i keep seeing them and in my room too like i’m going insane and it makes me feel like i’m a dirty person but i’m literally not, im like the cleanest person everrrrrr!! i may have been messy at times but it’s just clutter like too much of something, my room is always clean and i never eat in it or anything and ever since i’ve been seeing these bugs im even more cleaner then usual but i’ve still seen them and i’ve seen them in other rooms too and idk what to do anymore like everyday im in fear i always feel like they are on me im scared to be in my house now. how do you get rid of these?!?!?! pleaseee someome tell me pleaseeee cause i’ll think they disappear then they come back and never in the 20 years has my family ever seen one and now all of a sudden and mostly in my room like im soo clean i don’t understand, ok yea i’ve had clothes on the floor before in my closet but now i refuse for things to touch the floor it’s like the last month i’ve seen so many like stopppp i just want winter to come at this point cause i can’t live like this
lmao welcome to the club. had them for years legit dont go away
Are you still finding them?
@@KL-rq5mu since he sprayed I found a total of 3 dead carpet beetle adults and 2 shedded skin. He has sprayed twice so far. Are you having a carpet beetle issue too?
I can’t find any larvae either ☹️ they still keep showing up. Got sprayed 2 weeks ago. Really hoping to get rid of these things
@@KL-rq5mu have them come out again and spray. I don’t want to end up with an infestation ughhh

3 months late to this but they’re small enough to fit in through a screen
They are so small ,they can come under screens and through screens
Is it possible there was just one be wise I'm stressed out and I really need to sleep
same exact thingn happening to me!! i need sleep too haha did it work out to be okay?

bro i had milk once when i was small and a fucking carpet beetle either fell from the ceiling or flew straight into my cup of milk
Yea That’s what I have. Sometimes their butts light up blue. Who can we ask?
Are these harmful to humans at all?
I’ve had these bastards for a year now 😭 I can’t get rid of them help I’m ready to throw everything in the trash.

If you have a cat, keep them away from this insecticide bc it will kill your cat. My exterminator didn’t check to be sure what I had and used a growth regulator in my house.
