Donegal Tweed
도네갈 트위드는 아일랜드 북서부 도네갈 지역에서 탄생한 전통 원단으로, 험준한 해안선과 산악 지형에서 영감을 받은 독특한 솔트 앤 페퍼 패턴으로 잘 알려져 있습니다. 최근에는 와인과 같은 지리적 표시제(GI)의 보호를 받게 되어, 도네갈 지역에서 생산된 원단만이 ”도네갈 트위드“라는 이름을 사용할 수 있게 되었습니다. 이를 통해 전통과 품질이 더욱 확실히 보장되고 있습니다.
도큐먼트는 1860년대에 시작된 Magee (@magee1866 )150년 이상 이어져 온 그들의 유산을 존중하며, 지속적으로 도네갈 트위드를 사용해 왔습니다. 우리는 5대째 운영되고 있는 Magee를 직접 방문해 따뜻한 환대를 받으며, 그들의 이야기를 듣고, 전통과 가치를 이해하는 뜻깊은 시간을 가졌습니다.
Donegal Tweed is a traditional fabric originating from the northwest region of Ireland, renowned for its unique salt-and-pepper patterns inspired by the rugged coastlines and mountainous landscapes of Donegal. Recently, it has been granted protection under the Geographical Indication (GI) system, similar to wine, ensuring that only tweed produced in the Donegal region can bear the name. This guarantees the preservation of its heritage and quality.
Document respects the 150-year legacy of Magee, which began in the 1860s, and has consistently incorporated Donegal Tweed into its designs. During our visit to Magee, now operated by its fifth generation, we were warmly welcomed and had the meaningful opportunity to hear their stories and gain a deeper understanding of their tradition
