I visited 2 days back Stayed at Taj fort sanquerim. It's a beautiful market candolim. But dnt visit Tomatoes. We found it costly unnecessary taxes. Best food is The Curry house
I have been to Goa many times and this visit few days ago was , not as always , temperature was very hot and humid and same was the cost of hotels, cabs and beer, and I read why Goa tourism has dropped by almost 50% . Goa was not Goa as always . love the beach though 😊
This weekend when we visited Candolim there were many tourists, there was traffic on the main rd outside the beach so be prepared for that. Compared to Calangute it's less crowded. Locals won't bother you for anything. It's only when they see tourists breaking the law some of them get upset, I'm sure others would be upset also in any other place around the world. Once you are here I'm sure you'll enjoy bro, don't believe everything you see in the media, once you are here, you'll see a completely different picture. Enjoy your holidays & do let me know your reviews & if you have any questions I'll be happy to answer that for you.
As a foreigner, I think Goa is overated, overpriced, and generally doesn't offer good value. The natural beauty previously enjoyed by tourists, is being torn-up and replaced by development of holiday resorts, or residential complexes for rich Indians. SE Asian countries and Sri Lanka still provide the natural charm and uplifting experience I'm looking for, at affordable pricing.
In my personal opinion, Goa has the best of both worlds. There's all sorts of accommodation available here in terms of value. If you think the prices have gone up lately, who do you think is the culprit??? Check the prices of fuel, household goods, gst & other taxes. If these rates go up then yes eventually prices of almost everything is increased. Resorts & residential complexes are built in some areas I guess this happens in every tourist hotspot eventually but despite this Goa offers places with natural beauty. I suggest if you are looking for affordable housing checkout homestays or even if you book via booking.com, block the rooms, check reviews everywhere, videos etc & after visiting check the place again & only if you are convinced go for it. I see a lot of negativity floating around lately but you have to be here to experience it yourself, you might just end up having a different opinion.
@GavinJDsilva In most cases, international airfares are the single most expensive part of a holiday, so we consider the full package. Whether I travel to Thailand, Sri Lanka or Vietnam, it’s about the same airfare as visiting Goa. Then the deciding factor is hotels, meals, local travel costs, and the experience… that’s where Goa comes uncompetitive. (All countries face similar rising costs). I’ve been travelling globally for decades, and always stay in decent hotels… so like for like, I have better options outside Goa (or India), from an overall value standpoint. Pointless debating how tourists should spend their money…best Goa fix their problem.

In the last few years everything has become so expensive. Business owners are bearing the brunt ☹️ hope things change soon..

Absolutely, sadly it's just that some sectors need to up their game & be more transparent. This place is beautiful we need to maintain it 👍
Bro i am visiting goa this month and my stay in candolim , is it safe and less crowded than calagunte? I mean less nosy locals?

Yeah I agree, the authorities need to fix this problem, the airfares bit I do agree is expensive anyway I hope things turn out positive for everyone 👍
