Crazy coordination bro. Hopefully by the end of this year I can nail all of the 'advanced' footwork and nail even at least half of the 'outrageous' ones.
yeah this was a great video to make - tiring though 😅 one thing I'd say (similar to the other video we were commenting on) is not to agonize too too much over the rope; lately I've been working with a super basic super cheap rope - keeps me sharp! But in any case, I'm excited for you to get started with your rope training soon - let me know how you get on 👍🏽 Cheers, -Glen
@@RopeRage True, I'll probably get a boxers trainer V3 if I can't get the rx smart gear (as I live in France, so rope + delivery is around 65 €) And the french retailers are literally thieves ^^, they sell the handles for 47 € and the cables for 20 €.. But I'll keep you uddated with my training, looking at this video I'd say I'm between intermediate and advanced, but 3 weeks without rope might have made me rusty..

Rope Rage I’m trying! Doesn’t look as smooth as you haha. Trying hard to push my knees outward as well. I do 1000 regular bounce/boxer skips a day and then I play around with tricks. Wish I had a teacher though, it ain’t easyyyy!
Smoothness comes with persistence (increased comfort!) Also, great observation on the knees in particular 👌🏽 That’s an important point when squatting to keep the knees from tracking inward. Good that you’re working hard at it, but it’s also important to remember not to hyperextend and overdo it. Wish I could still hold training sessions right now but can’t due to the obvious current global situation; but I’m actually in the process of wrapping up the first Rope Rage training handbook, which’ll contain a lot more of the lessons I’ve picked up in my years training/coaching/whipping myself 😄 so more to come! You've got solid consistency with your training, and it'll surely pay off. Keep at it, and keep progressing 🚀🚀

Tremendous skill. Is there a a way to breakdown how to learn and progress step by step for some of these skills or is it just learn by doing over and over ?
Hey Brody, glad you liked this one! It was a fun video to put together. All jump rope techniques are pretty much fundamentals built on other fundamentals, etc, so it’s always great to first get the essentials solid (e.g., correct jumping technique, rope handlinG and so on). We try to make step by step vids for a lot of the techniques here, but things have been busy lately - we’ll get round to it all eventually! Was there a particular skill you were looking at working on here? Also one thing you might be interested to hear about is one of the projects we’ve been finishing up recently is a training handbook, which will be part-comic book/part-workout manual - and the primary focus will be on getting solid foundations and building up with them. Can’t wait to share it 😎 Hope your training has been progressing well even in these challenging times 👍🏽 Cheers, -Glen
@@RopeRage thank you ! I would definitely check out that manual. I really want to be able to do double unders and the Tyson squat jumps....I remember him doing those when he was champ and just thought that was so impressive.

Thanks for sharing some new footwork to learn!! What weight is the rope you prefer for day-to-day training...Buff 3.4oz? What weight are you using in most of your videos? Also, what length do you use compared to your height? Thanks again, J
hey J, glad you enjoyed the video 😎 You're right on: I use the Buff rope for day to day. Will sometimes switch to the Elite which is a bit lighter, but only like 10 percent of the time. The length is 8'6, but I started out longer and then gradually shortened it as I developed my skills. Last time I measured my height (couple years ago) I was between 5'11 and 6'0. ahhhh the rockstar..been working on that one for quite some time (see my failed attempt in my footwork video at the end lol), goes in hand with single leg pass under. Tutorial? :) :)
hey! just saw the vid 😎 real close, you're on a good progression there. The way I did it was just working on switching the rope between hands in front of the body (i.e., not passing it under the legs) then when confident with the handling, pass it under the legs THEN, work on that explosive jump! I feel like you're well on your way 💪🏽 AND YES, this is a highly requested tutorial and it's on the list for sure. Keep an eye out ... Cheers, Glen
Hey Nick, apologies for the delay here - it's been a pretty hectic period lately! Good question there; I'm actually not sure - it could be. I don't really watch other people jumping rope online (maybe I should do that more actually), so I hadn't actually seen much of Roberto Duran's skills. A subscriber sent me a video and asked me to look into it, so I studied his awesome double under squat and put out my version of a skill breakdown for that. For 16 & 17 in this video, I thought up that move after watching too many Bruce Lee kung fu movie scenes! -Glen
Hey Apatheia, the Feiyue's are a good fit for me that's for sure! I think minimal drop sole shoes (rather than shoes with a thick sole) are great because they give me a good feel of the ground and help me keep my jumping light and quick. I should also mention that I have no affiliation with the brand and there are likely many other minimal drop shoes that work well. These are just the ones I've tried out and they worked out well for me. How has your training been going lately? Hopefully it's progressing well 🚀 Cheers, -Glen
Hi there! Great work! I’m so curious about your shoes, it looks to have a great support at the ankles and still have a flexible sole. May I know what you’re using?
Hey Jen, thanks for reaching out! I mainly wear flexible soled shoes with minimal drop when I'm training, these ones in particular are from a Chinese kung fu brand called Fei Yue. Honestly, there isn't much actual ankle support even though they are high top shoes, but the sole is the main thing for me. It helps to feel the contact with the ground better among other things. Funny thing is, I'm just finishing up the upcoming Rope Rage training handbook and have just finished the section on footwear - coincidence! Anyway, there'll be more on this in that book, but I do hope the info here helps out. Let me know how you get on 👍🏾 Cheers, -Glen
Thank you for the prompt reply Glen. I find that I can better jump barefoot or wearing socks only. Whenever I try jumping with shoes on, I trip a lot. I think it has something with what you said about the flexibility of the sole and to be able to feel the ground better. I am definitely waiting for your book and will look into that shoes brand! Thank you so much! 😍
just noticing your follow-up comment here and gave me a big smile. Glad you're inspired to progress more with your training! And yes, Veteran did a substantial job with his video analysing some of the Rope Rage techniques. There are MUCH MORE videos to come in 2021 😎 Hope you're doing well and have had a strong start to the new year thus far 💪🏽 Cheers, - Glen
haha, protect the nuts at all costs! And yeah, ambidexterity is one of the major training tenets here, I was actually writing on that _exact_ topic in the upcoming Rope Rage handbook. It's all about balance - we don't wanna become overreliant on any one arm/leg/side. This is how to work towards being a well-rounded athlete 👌🏽
I couldn't tell you exactly; that sounds about right though. But of course, with highly frequent training that time frame can be much shorter; with infrequent training, much longer. Cheers, - Glen
hey mate. My learning process mainly involves experimentation, some daydreaming (like hmm, I wonder if I could wrap the rope around my torso to change it's rotation direction 💭) and sometimes watching movement patterns in combat and in sports. I've never had a coach and am self taught, though I do take inspiration from many things around me and thus I like to think I have many teachers. I think being self taught has been beneficial for me long term because it means I have to repeatedly make mistakes to find out how something works, and that helps me to teach well by empathisizing and figuring out good solutions for the learner. There's a few dope videos coming up next where I go into the learning process a bit more; great timing on this question! Hope your training is progressing well, Glen
@@RopeRage thanks for taking time to give me feedback. I kind of figured you were self taught. Ur move are very unique and super dope. I'm currently leaning the jump squat routine and also jumping rope with lateral movement.
Hi Jennifer, Yeah, it's a challenging one! The main issue is distributing your weight between the left and right leg evenly, it's like a balancing act and takes some time to adjust to. One thing I'd say that helps a lot is to work on your stronger (more comfortable) side first, and then try to mirror on the other side - ALSO! there is a more detailed breakdown of that Bruce Lee step in a tutorial on this channel. Search up "Boxer Step tutorial" on this channel. It runs through the boxer step first and then the Bruce Lee step afterward. Let me know how you get on 👍🏽 -Glen
Thanks Sid, I appreciate ya! 😎 Have taken a few months out of producing videos just to focus on some exciting new Rope Rage projects that will all be revealed soon-then I'm right back to making more videos and I cannot wait to start sharing again. Hope you're doing well and training is progressing in spite of the challenging times right now 💪🏾 -Glen
Too many variations..its like you’re just trying to make the list as long as you possibly could... i mean noone really cares about those wierd tricks.. The classics are the ones that matter.. I mean as someone who’s starting out and looking at their journey ahead this is really a long way to go and kinda intimidating to a begginer.. (im at around mid 30s according to the video)
hey all good if it’s not your thing, but try not to just take a negative viewpoint. Try to see the good in things. Some people enjoy sticking to the classics; others want to explore beyond the traditional. Don't be intimidated! That's not the point of this video at all. Mastering the mid 30s is more than most people can do. The journey is long, and it's constant development. When you've learned the traditional, I just think it's a good idea to explore past our limits. Thanks for checking out the video, -Glen
@@RopeRage wow the video was uploaded wayy back and you still replied... i mean that shows you care.. sorry for the negative vibes in my comment.. im just salty looking at how ive learnt most of the begginer and intermediate tricks but the advanced tricks are too advanced and my progress is way slower then when i started out.. but i also need a break from jump roping cuz im too tired of it.. any tips for the long term?
no problem! I get it because I've been there. It's normal to hit a plateau, but what I try to do is remember the vigor and energy I had for training when I was making progress at the beginning, and try to bear in mind that it's just a matter of being persistent with the learning process. Long-term, rest is definitely a good idea. In fact, if you're doing this for the long-term then taking time to get adequate rest is non-negotiable. I'm just finishing up writing the Rope Rage training handbook, which has a bunch of information on how to win the mental game as well as how to improve technique; that's one of the major reasons I've taken a break from posting here but will be back real soon with a ton of new stuff that I can't wait to share. I'm sure your questions will be answered. All the best with your training (and resting), - Glen

Also, apologies for the delayed reply here - things have been very busy over here as we work on a few new projects and sort out some personal issues, so I’m just getting back to responding to comments a little later than I’d like.
Rope Rage is pretty much a journey to mastery by taking a slightly different approach to our training. Just trying to make this style of training more exciting/rewarding 😎
Glad to have you join us here on the channel! 🚀
If you have any questions or get stuck on your training, feel free to drop a comment here on the channel and will help out where possible.

Wow bro, that was amazing!!!! 😍
Thanks M Stuef, much appreciated 😎
Brilliant chunk of jump rope education! Loving the sounds on your vids! ✌️
Glad you enjoyed this one! It did take a while to put the visuals and audio together for this video, so I'm pleased you like it 😎
Crazy coordination bro. Hopefully by the end of this year I can nail all of the 'advanced' footwork and nail even at least half of the 'outrageous' ones.
Let’s go BuenVida! I love that energy, put the reps in and you got this 💪🏽
Este video me hizo amar la cuerda. Muchas gracias
Excelente! Muchas gracias 😎
Amazing video ! Now I just need the jump rope..
yeah this was a great video to make - tiring though 😅
one thing I'd say (similar to the other video we were commenting on) is not to agonize too too much over the rope; lately I've been working with a super basic super cheap rope - keeps me sharp!
But in any case, I'm excited for you to get started with your rope training soon - let me know how you get on 👍🏽
Cheers,
-Glen
@@RopeRage True, I'll probably get a boxers trainer V3 if I can't get the rx smart gear (as I live in France, so rope + delivery is around 65 €)
And the french retailers are literally thieves ^^, they sell the handles for 47 € and the cables for 20 €..
But I'll keep you uddated with my training, looking at this video I'd say I'm between intermediate and advanced, but 3 weeks without rope might have made me rusty..
@@cosmicsection1263 sounds good; let me know!
All the best with it 😎
@@RopeRage thanks !
thanks, needed this.
Glad you found it useful; I’m hoping it will add a few cool things to add to your next training session 😎
Nice 👍🏽
thanks, glad you liked this one 👍🏽
You should be in one of those WIRED videos breaking jump rope in levels of complexity.
thanks Lithien, I appreciate it! 😄
Funny you say that - this weekend I just launched the first-ever Rope Rage training handbook, and the breakdowns in that thing are so detailed it feels just like I just put myself through a super complex WIRED video!
If you liked this, would recommend you grab a copy if interested.
But anyway, thanks for the compliment. Hope you're doing well.

Right on bro I’ll have to add these to the arsenal ✊🏾👏🏾
Nice one, glad you enjoyed the video 😎 If you get stuck on anything, let me know how you get on 👍🏽
Thanks for making this amazing content! I've started jump rope recently, and have been thinking I am doing pretty good... until seeing this video 😂 I am still in the beginner's realm oh man!
Thanks for sending this amazing comment 😎 Great to hear you've started your journey of mastering the jump rope; hopefully these videos can continue to be useful for you.
Any questions you have, feel free to just drop them in the comments section on any of the videos - I'll help out wherever I can 👍🏽

Increíble hermano! Fascinante video👍👍👍
Gracias hermano!
Soooo talented!
thanks Soni, glad you're enjoying the video! Years of whipping myself with the rope eventually paid off 😊
I hope your training has been going well lately 👍🏽

Rope Rage I’m trying! Doesn’t look as smooth as you haha. Trying hard to push my knees outward as well. I do 1000 regular bounce/boxer skips a day and then I play around with tricks. Wish I had a teacher though, it ain’t easyyyy!
Smoothness comes with persistence (increased comfort!)
Also, great observation on the knees in particular 👌🏽 That’s an important point when squatting to keep the knees from tracking inward.
Flippin' awesome. Enough to keep me inspired and motivated for a good couple of years (at least!) :-)
Hey Jennifer, great to hear this! Yeah, quite a few techniques to get into here 👍🏽

great stuff Kabir, glad you enjoyed it 👍🏾
Why has this guy only got 6k subs? He's much much much better than Jump rope dudes you deserve over a million subs man!
Thanks Ahmed! Rope Rage has quite a new and different style to traditional jump rope; I am hoping the subscribers will come in due time 🙏🏽
But I’m glad you like the videos! Also, apologies for the delayed reply here - the past few weeks were crazy getting things together for our launch of the BRAND-NEW Rope Rage training handbook last weekend.
Looking forward to getting back to more workout videos soon.

@@ahmedibnhanbalashshaybani1009 yes, will do 😎 Although things are difficult at the moment with the current global situation.
One thing I'd definitely recommend instead though is to get the book if you haven't already - honestly, there are hundreds of training sessions worth of knowledge in there!
You made it look so easy😅👌
Thanks Fem 😎 comments like these are what make the hours of whipping myself all worth it.

Awesome! I need to know where the rope comes from, it looks so smooth
Hey Henry, glad you enjoyed this one - after being out since mid-2020, the video uploads are coming back from today!
I actually switch up the rope I use regularly so I don’t become reliant on any one kind of rope, but I believe the rope in this video was the rx smart gear buff rope 👍🏽
Hope your training has been progressing well,

Lotsss of training. Do you do much rope training yourself?
@@RopeRage like 30 minutes every day
@@grace6118 love that consistency, that's great for building your muscle memory! 🏆
Can’t wait to share it 😎
Hope your training has been progressing well even in these challenging times 👍🏽
Cheers,
-Glen
@@RopeRage thank you ! I would definitely check out that manual. I really want to be able to do double unders and the Tyson squat jumps....I remember him doing those when he was champ and just thought that was so impressive.
Those two techniques in particular are both MAJOR leg workouts! Good for developing explosive jumping 💥 There are quite a few vids on this channel for those, especially for the double unders.
Check them out when you can, let me know if they help out at all 👍🏽
@@RopeRage I will definitely check those out. Thank you !

All I can say is thanks! 😄 Glad you liked the video. How is your training going at the moment?
It's so much fun. I just added the side swing cross over to my bag of tricks (I'm on fiyah!!). I'm TRULY enjoying the journey. Looking forward to your book. Thanks again.
Insane moves. I am just starting and can only do one move

@@RopeRage thanks for your reply. I am using 1 lb jump rope and am beginning to stay on my toes more if i am able to use my wrist well. good to hear this 👍🏽 yes, the little details are of great importance!
Wow man
glad you liked this one, and I hope your training has been going well lately 🙏🏽
Thanks for sharing some new footwork to learn!! What weight is the rope you prefer for day-to-day training...Buff 3.4oz? What weight are you using in most of your videos? Also, what length do you use compared to your height? Thanks again, J
hey J, glad you enjoyed the video 😎
You're right on: I use the Buff rope for day to day. Will sometimes switch to the Elite which is a bit lighter, but only like 10 percent of the time.
The length is 8'6, but I started out longer and then gradually shortened it as I developed my skills. Last time I measured my height (couple years ago) I was between 5'11 and 6'0.
Hopefully that info helps, but feel free to follow up if anything's unclear.
Cheers!
-Glen
You deserve more subscribers. Also jumping rope on smooth concrete like in this skate park is the best, makes your rope last longer :D

I saw your vids back in the day have you ever tried sprinting with rope towards cam or a 220 sprint.
thanks glad watched some of the old vids, great question too - I have recently been working on sprinting towards cam, techinique still needs work, but what's a 220 sprint? I'm curious to know more about that
Very nice. What skatepark is that? i thought I was the only onen who jumps rope at the park when its quiet lol
ahhhh the rockstar..been working on that one for quite some time (see my failed attempt in my footwork video at the end lol), goes in hand with single leg pass under. Tutorial? :) :)
hey! just saw the vid 😎 real close, you're on a good progression there.
The way I did it was just working on switching the rope between hands in front of the body (i.e., not passing it under the legs) then when confident with the handling, pass it under the legs THEN, work on that explosive jump!
I feel like you're well on your way 💪🏽
AND YES, this is a highly requested tutorial and it's on the list for sure. Keep an eye out ...
Cheers,
Glen
Oh my gosh yes it makes total sense, thank you I will work on that :)
Hello Rope Rage; are techniques 16 & 17 an old Roberto Duran step also?
I'm sure I've seen this technique utilised by him somewhere
Hey Nick, apologies for the delay here - it's been a pretty hectic period lately!
Good question there; I'm actually not sure - it could be. I don't really watch other people jumping rope online (maybe I should do that more actually), so I hadn't actually seen much of Roberto Duran's skills. A subscriber sent me a video and asked me to look into it, so I studied his awesome double under squat and put out my version of a skill breakdown for that.
For 16 & 17 in this video, I thought up that move after watching too many Bruce Lee kung fu movie scenes!
-Glen
Are Feiyue shoes good for rope skipping? I have a pair of Feiyue's, but i've never considert them for jumping rope. 🤔
Hopefully it's progressing well 🚀
Cheers,
-Glen
Hi there!
Let me know how you get on 👍🏾
Cheers,
-Glen
Thank you for the prompt reply Glen. I find that I can better jump barefoot or wearing socks only. Whenever I try jumping with shoes on, I trip a lot. I think it has something with what you said about the flexibility of the sole and to be able to feel the ground better. I am definitely waiting for your book and will look into that shoes brand! Thank you so much! 😍
You were also reviewed by Jump Rope Veteran recently. I follow you both and you are both great inspirations to all of us aspiring jumpers. ❤️
just noticing your follow-up comment here and gave me a big smile. Glad you're inspired to progress more with your training!
And yes, Veteran did a substantial job with his video analysing some of the Rope Rage techniques. There are MUCH MORE videos to come in 2021 😎
Hope you're doing well and have had a strong start to the new year thus far 💪🏽
Cheers,

Feiyues 🔥
they're incredible 🔥
YES! THAT'S a proper Tyson Squat! Ambidextrous. Your Rockstar's are sick, I'm going to give them a try. Where's my nut guard...
haha, protect the nuts at all costs!
How long did it take you to get to the advanced level (6months to a year?)
I couldn't tell you exactly; that sounds about right though.
But of course, with highly frequent training that time frame can be much shorter; with infrequent training, much longer.
Cheers,
- Glen
What are your shoes
these are fei yue, kung fu shoes 👍🏾
What type of shoes are those???
Fei Yue shoes, they're chinese kung fu trainers
@@RopeRage Thank You!
What rope are you using In the video?
this video was the rxsmartgear buff rope
@@RopeRage thank you.
How did you learn all your moves?
Hope your training is progressing well,
Glen
@@RopeRage thanks for taking time to give me feedback. I kind of figured you were self taught. Ur move are very unique and super dope. I'm currently leaning the jump squat routine and also jumping rope with lateral movement.
What shoes are those?
these are minimal sole kung fu shoes, from a brand called Fei Yue
Why the hell is the "Bruce Lee" step so difficult? Your thoughts/tips will be very much appreciated.
Hi Jennifer,
Yeah, it's a challenging one!
Let me know how you get on 👍🏽
-Glen

man Im not even through intermediate
Thanks for the comment Imran!
There's always room for more learning 🚀
@@RopeRage agreed. thanks for this video now I kinda know how to progress jump roping :D
Thanks for checking out the video,
-Glen
All the best with your training (and resting),
- Glen
