You cannot think of ITV News at Ten without thinking of Trevor McDonald, a well-known face on British television screens. A veteran newsreader of over 30 years in the industry, he started work as a print and broadcast journalist in Trinidad during the 1960s before being employed by BBC Radio. He has reported on some of the theoretical moments in history, from the United Nations during the Falklands War to several Presidential and Congressional Campaigns, including the 2008 US Obama presidential election, but not forgetting the defining moment when Nelson Mandela was released in Johannesburg and conducting the first and still the only British television interview with former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. He became, and household face and name, going on to be named Newscaster of the year in 1993, 1997 and 1999, and has regularly topped the polls as the most authoritative and trustworthy news presenter.
