    A decade means eternal by the standards of the insect world. Curiosity is in what they're doing during such a long larval period under ground. They can't molt that often! How about predation risks?

    I saw some in 2017 here in southwest Ohio also.

    Haven’t seen any other discussion of this. “Some” was a significant area. I saw it in 2017 and wondered if it was an offshoot starting from the 2004 plague. It was minor compared to the 2021 but definitely noticeable. Wanted to know if it’s possible for 17 to turn into 13, etc.
