  • Health care professionals were involved in the development of culturally sensitive and linguistically relevant post-discharge educational materials for COPD patients in Vancouver, Canada. The aim is was to educate COPD patients from ethno-cultural communities on 8 topics re COPD: Nutrition, Action Plan, Self-management, Coughing and Mucus Clearance, Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Exercise, Breathing Techniques, Energy Conservation, and Smoking and engage them in self-management of their chronic illness by means of improving their access to relevant information. These materials have been developed by the COPD Transition Team and research team at University of British Columbia’s Institute for Heart and Lung Health, with financial and technical support provided by BC Lung Association and Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, Integrated Primary and Community Care.
