    Kate Winslet was great in this and she deserved an oscar for this role. Ralph Finness played in 3 movies Shindler's List The Reader and Sunshine. All about the holocaust.

    Its honestly awful how many people completely forgive someone who sexually assaulted a child... This movie had a great idea, but didnt take any time to discuss the pain a child can feel from sexual assault...
    It feels as if people excuse female predators because they're "hot"

      The intimate scenes were very hard to watch. It was so wrong on every level. I can’t understand how people see it as a love story. It’s child abuse and predatory behaviour. She had such an impact on him that it destroyed his whole life!

    It shows us how judgmental people can be. The Germans had to be judged. Didn't they? We can't just try to move on.

      Actually the German did commit war crime no doubt about that but so did the Soviet when they took half of Europe. Even allied power committed war crimes as well

    • @shanehughes3511
      @shanehughes3511 Год назад

      @@redeyexxx1841the Soviets for certain are glossed over in history. They commit as much genocide and murder as the Nazis and were just as imperial minded. They get away with a lot of it and have a better historical image as they bravely died in the millions to defeat Nazi Germany. History is written by the Victor's. The Soviets from the 1920s to 1940s were barbaric in their treatment of people. Their iron fist on Eastern Europe from the 1950s to 1990s was bad and is recognised as such but it pales in comparison to their crimes earlier on the century. Tens of millions put to death or to work camps.
      But ... history is written by the Victor's and the Nazis lost the war because of the Soviets.
      Yes the rest of the allies, the British and the Americans in particular commit war crimes too in WW2 but their crimes were not to the level of the Nazis or Soviets. Not even close.
      The real crimes of the US are their treatment of native Americans for centuries which still isn't fully acknowledged and slavery of black Americans.
      The British .. they still haven't apologised hard enough or owned up enough to their treatment of Ireland, India and parts of Africa.
      But make no mistake .. the Nazis were pure evil. They wanted to wipe out entie races of people. Animals.
      The Soviets though too, particularly early on were very cruel.
