The Shotokan kata series continues, my goal for these videos is for them to be a reference to all the karateka in the world. Especially to each new wave of students, I hope this can bring value to their training! OSS, Jason 🥋⛩🔥
My karate is actually shotokan too and its been helping me in katas and other things i have been doing wrong about the katas and itreally help thank you for making this videos and helping me out and the whole karate community thank you😁😁
Thanks for this! When my sensei showed it I only understood some of it, when I looked at your video at home I was able to perform it at green belt, so much thanks for that!
It was interesting to see this video since I just wanted to revise it since for my karaté exam I need to do every kata from heian Shodan to tekki shodan but I noticed that depending from where you come from some movements differ, but otherwise this video helped alot thank you
My daughter is doing championship so I told her to see this she is addicted to your show and she believes she can win first place if she sees you❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much, I am so glad I have discovered your channel. These kata explanation as so helpful. It will definitely help me a lot. I'm going to use these video, to stay in practice over the holiday period. Oss!
Thank you, just returned after 37 years and catching up with new style and techniques, i will be doing my purple belt sokn and will learn this kata from you 👍
Thank you kindly, your videos are the best out there. Breaking each part down is so helpful and easy to follow. Also, describing each move, the name of the moves.
Another great video! As of late, I've been cross-training in Shotokan and I've been focusing on the Heian/Pinan kata. I've noticed that there are variations in the ending of Godan from numerous lineages of Shotokan. Personally I like the kosa-dachi better because I find it easier to transition from.
Thanks, I now realise that for years I've been missing the hand move between the first and second manji uki, my sensi keeps going over this, and it took a lot of fwd and rewind to get my head around that hand swap as you turn, but it feels so much more natural now. Ossu.
hello jason, thank you for this tutorial and this excellent video. I just don't understand why the body gets up at 0:13 et 0:18.. I thought I had to stay in the fudo position to avoid a yoyo effect. is it a variant? Thank you again for this video. philippe
Hi Phil, I totally understand your feeling of “why we must do that”. To be honest, I don’t have a good answer for you. I’m assuming it is bunkai or application. But that is not my expertise. I do not spend too much of my time theorizing the “perfect” bunkai. Instead I focus most of my time trying to perfect the fundamental principles of my karate (balance, power, center, kime, power transfer, zanshin).
I just got my blue belt last night and I'm so excited to start working on this Kata. Whenever i turn to RUclips for videos regarding katas, i only watch yours and will hunt for them if I don't see them right away 😅
