I think I have used the loader for the light mortar, I figured the shell in his hand looks a little like a radio hand set, and a 3ft distance you can’t tell!
You could have rerolled the moral test after the flamethrower attack on the veterans as Soviets are allowed to reroll morale tests. The second result stands though. Also the BA-20 with flamethrower does only have the flamethrower as it replaces the MG. Nice game though!
Yes indeed, whilst filming it’s hard enough to remember my own army rules and Stew doesn’t usually play Soviets, so easy to forget. Glad you still enjoyed it as I like to share our games with everyone 👍🏻
@@theministryofminiatures I can only imagine, we tend to forget rules and we're not even filming at all :D When the BA-20 flamed the officer, you would have had to roll a 5 due to move and long range on the 12" range vehicle flamethrower. Not that it would have changed the game result anyhow 😁
…clearly cheating! Or sensible answer is I have my whole army built to flex, so an LMG from a rifle squad and the LMG from this squad makes up 2 x Sisi squads… I accidentally left an LMG squad in, so should have been 8 not 10 🤷🏻♂️
Assault engineers would be awesome! But we were restricted by fielding whatever Stewart could muster from his red army... hoping next time the Finnish fight the Soviets it will be another Soviet challenger, watch this space 👍
Exceptional damage is a 6 followed by a 6, not just a 6. Also don't know if you played any Finnish special rules. Also tracks advance 9 not 12". Lots of rules wrong inc snipers suffering long range.
Thanks. The finnish rules didn’t really come into play… so didn’t really have a chance to use them… mostly off camera as editing takes a lot of the talk away to make the video shorter! The rules they do have are pretty cool, especially with the higher costing units using ambush etc.
Indeed they don’t, but the SMG was still 7’s as it had long range instead of movement… so all still 7’s. I just summarised that they would all need 7’s to save time. 👍🏻
Not trying to nit pick as long as people are enjoying the game that’s what’s important just wanted to point out and I could be wrong but I believe there were a few errors in the game plz forgive me for pointing them out. Your tank should have advanced on 9” not 12” and when you hit on a six with the machine gun you needed to roll for the wound which would have been the second six followed by an additional six for the exceptional damage. The sniper shouldn't have a penalty for long range when shooting.
Thanks, it’s hard to keep track of the rules when filming, and most of our group are new to Bolt Action, especially wirh Covid hitting we haven’t had a huge amount of games. As you say, as long as people enjoy the game, that’s the point, have fun and learn as we go. Hopefully you still enjoyed the game!? Thanks The Minister of Miniatures
Sorry but im kinda cringing over the nazi iconography on the finnish tanks im pretty sure thats not how they saw each other from friend and foe. Like the infantry looks really, really good but why the nazi iconography
The icon dates back thousands of years and has been used by many cultures, including the Finnish around WW2. It was also used in reverse format by the Nazi party, but that was on white background and red surround. They are different, and the symbol should not be defined by the Nazi party. Hope this helps.
What model have you used for your spotted for the Finnish motar as I know the kit doesn't come with one?

Hey! Very fun report! Any chance you could share where the buildings are from? They look awesome!
Thanks, it was an enjoyable game, glad you liked it!
The buildings are by 4ground, before they closed... I do see them on eBay every so often.
Ahhh I had suspected as much! Thank you for the swift response!

how did you manage to get so many SMG troops for your sissi squad aswell?
…clearly cheating!

@@theministryofminiatures ah that makes sense haha. I love the army though, i look forward to seeing them in more battle reports.
Soviets needed a 6 to 9 man squad of Assault Engineers, nothing says hard to kill than veteran infantry in SN-42 body armor.

Also, google WW2 Finnish tanks, the logo is quite clear and historically accurate.
