This guy has been the man since the late 80s, man, I’m old.
Jeap....its really long time ago to see him training in his home city.
he should have been doing these tutorials for decades.. he is the best...
He has. Back in 1994 he was doing this but not here obviously. Magazines was how we used to learn from Hans back in the day !
@Mark Nope Don't forget the VHS tapes! Hans is a legend. I highly doubt MTBing would be what it is today without his contributions 🤙😎🤙
I never stopped to watch a "How to..." video for biking, but when I saw Hans made one, I figured it was the day.
Hans thanks ! Back in 94 I would read articles about you in Magazines !
You are the man. You inspired generations of riders, and showed us what was possible. So gland to find you have a channel. Herzliches danke!
That noise wheelie was on point
Do it more please Hans ! Good to have lessons from the best ! The doctore of mtb 😉
Best tutorial ive seen, who needs to edit slow mo when you can just do it in slow mo. Hans, your still the master 🚲
Hans, I loved this video... it was so simple, so clear, and in a perfect venue for the lessons! Thanks so much! Keep going, enjoying, and living to the max!!
Hans looks as old as I do 30 years later. Talk about talent, technique and experience.Cheers my brother.
Nice!!!
I used to love technical single treck!!!
There's lots of it here in the northeast!
👍👍👍
Fun fun fun! 😂 I can't ride anymore! 😥Sucks... I have been all over the US riding and Flyfishing! ✌️
When Hans Rey is offering advice on bike control, you best beleive I be listening real good.....
Klasse ....
wer kennt den Namen Hans (No Way) Rey nicht, - was mir sehr sehr gut gefällt ist die spielerische Eleganz mit der er das macht, es schaut leicht und smooth aus, mal jemand der nicht "brutal bolzt" das fällt angenehm auf - so thumbs up
Thank you Hans. Your explanation and the way you ride makes it look so easy.
As a novice, I love these tutorials.
Very helpful. And Hans has about as much credibility as it is possible for a human being to have.
This is the best cornering vid ever!
Great video Hans, perfect explanation!!!! Best regards from The Netherlands 👍🇳🇱

Really great and really detailed tips!
Great stuff Hans great Tips 👌🏴🏴
I wish I had seen this video before I rode the San Juan Trail for the first time.....I think I will always be working on my switchbacks....It's all about having fun, even if you need to get off your bike :)
San Juan Trail is a perfect place for switchback practice... there are so many! There are numerous opportunities for railing the inside with the rear wheel.
Bahaha, I know San Juan Trail well. Used to live in Laguna Beach and that was a fav. Now in Sabah, Borneo. Lots of empty vertical dirt here. :) - AB in Sabah, Borneo and Santa Barbara, California
@@seadragonadventures Once a resident always a resident.... Laguna is such an awesome place. I no longer live in Laguna either, but we are still close. We have plenty of people, but we also have plenty of trails.
Others: slo-mo in post.
Hans Rey: Hold my wheel.
Great advice . I already put them to the test. Your a genius. I’ve been doing it all wrong for years. 😂
The legend dropping knowledge....class is in session!! 🤘
Yes my left is a lot better then my right when turning. Thanks Hans 😃
Thank you
thanks for the video, its very easy to understand and useful.
well explained.
i thought i was the only one with a bad side😆
Thank you for this video! So helpful!
wunderbar, danke. Please make more how to ride videos
Wow awesome video great job 👍😎🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
This was very useful.
Keeping it real and staying rad🔥🤘
Thanks Hans !
Fun how to video thanks
The advice that Hans has is totally practical 😃 Technique is interesting personally as when i surf waves my left foot is back 🙂 On the mountain bike it's forward 🤔 when I'm rock climbing i have no preference of engagement 🙃 As long as it fun & the fundamental expectations are achieved 😁
The last technique is the best..the enduro style. Making a pre-turn (wide and outside)
It sounds and looks very easy 😁
Good old 1970s French skid turn. :)
GO Hansie GO!
Que maestro eres 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍👌💪💪💪
Hans your my Idol
Awesome
sehr gut .
LG
Wish he showed some techniques going up those tight switchbacks
Hans.🤙
THE BETTER WAY IS : with feet level, ride your front wheel a bit wide on the turn, then just before (not too early) you're about to turn, drop your foot (opposite of which way you're turning)...it would be soooo easy! And this way, you can do it on a relatively faster speed.
Thankyou 🤘🏿🤘🏿👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
Who dislikes a Hans Rey video? Do you even ride?
Seen on a few videos of riders using a Scandinavian Flick type method. What's that all about?
I wish Hans could make a new video series of "how to" for trials and MTB, like "monkey see, monkey do"... keep with the good vids
I loved Monkey see, monkey do! Had it on a video cassette.
@@danielausbanders6102 VHS!..., Mr. Jiggs was a rad student
I think he deffinitly could 🤘
4:26 was that an angel?
how do you do all this when going uphill?
Do a "How to be the Greatest of All Time" video! Because that is what you are!
I need to practice the first one; it's the one I am most comfortable with.
Nose wheelie: no way. I'm old now and I am not interested in hitting the ground anymore.
Is the rear wheel lift only for clipped pedals? I didn't hear if you are running flats or clips 🤔
i was riding flat pedals, the technique works with either pedal, you don't just pull up on your feet, push your feet down, back and up in one dynamic motion to stick to the pedal and to swing / lift the rear wheel up.

What kinda e-bike do you have?
What model GT are you riding in this video?
GT - EForce
4:30 - who is the cute little forest nymph in the background???
Most likely his grand daughter.

When he says ‘down’ I hear Arnold
Sehr schön gemacht und erklärt. Jetzt bitte eine Rechtskurve zeigen (kann ich auch nicht so gut) ;-)
Chocolate foot!
han ,how long for you to learn Wheelies?cheers
I started practicing when I was 12 yrs old, it didn't happen over night, and I am still practicing today.
Maybe a log crossing tutorial next.
good idea
was ist das für ein Bike?
GT e-Force ebike and the babyblue bike was a regular GT carbon Force
Sir how old r u
I was a little disappointed when Hans mentioned using your 'favourite' foot. I was expecting him to say 'chocolate' foot.
Does he still ride for gt? 🤔
you bet - 33 years and counting....
Oh my God I was going to be there this week with my GT Force but I canceled it because of Covid. If I was there and you were there I think I would have had a heart attack anyways. God damn it.

I see you really having your weight behind the saddle. This is something that would go against the advice of most instructions videos. Keep your weight right above the bottombracket is the general advice. This makes more sense since you need to have some weight on the front tyre to keep enough traction.
Did you watch the actual video or did you just look at the screen photo? You obviously didn't.
@@Hansnowayrey, I watched it and that's why I decided to place the comment above. From your reaction I understand you agree with having the weight above the bottom bracket but that's not what you show in the video. At 1.12 you're not heavy on your feet (like a lot of instructors like to call it) but you have your weight hanging above the rear wheel. Which is ok and probably makes it a little less likely that someone goes over the bars but you might lose traction with your front tire. I hope I explained myself well and you can deal with this feedback, because that's only what this is.
@@TheJupilo right on, all good. Every turn is different and they all need slightly different handling, also depending on how steep it is and what you goal is (trying to be fast, or safe or clean, etc...). Generally one should put the weight back only for as split second at the crucial moment, over doing it can be a common mistake. But in that particular turn, with its radius and it was pretty smooth, fast and safe to ride it as I did. But there are def. more than one way to do so.....
I think these conversations are great. Break down the technique and see what works for you. Other videos say the hips should be over the bottom bracket and Hans is saying behind the seat but since he is going down a hill aren't they the same thing ? Watching the video his hips are directly over the bottom bracket when the camera is level.
You need to find a more picturesque backdrop for your video. I'm very disappointed.
Hey Hans warum in englisch ??? Mach deutsch 💪
