    Hello Sergio! I'm starting with a second-hand gurdy and after seeing the video I have a question:
    I understood you can stretch the C drone string to sound like a D, but can you do the same with the melodic strings? Because mine already look too stretched when they sound open G, I'm afraid they may break if I try an A.
    That's because I would like to play some irish music with friends playing in D.

  • @MegaMagicmaker
    @MegaMagicmaker 3 года назад

    During your string recommendations you list a .84mm savarez as working for the G trumpet, but when looking for the string .84mm is listed as an A and .89mm is listed as a G. Was this a typo? Or are you saying to tune an A string to G? I'm planning to build a nerdy gurdy and this has been the most helpful info I've found to figure out what strings to use for trumpets, thank you.

    • @Sergio.GonzalezPrats

      Savarez Alliance from classical guitar is 0.84 in fluorocarbon, this is to be tuned in C or D in G it works but its best to choose a thicker string for G trompette, something like 1.20mm

    is Kürschner good for melody strings? All suppliers near me are out of vision strings, and on Kürschner's website they recommend a 0,82mm plain gut for G' chanterelle. They're also recommending a 1,62mm wound gut for G (I'm trying for a setup where one of my chanterelles is one octave lower than the other). I've used savarez gut for chanterelles but I am not liking the sound too much.

    1. first 2 tuning pegs on the end of the head are super hard to move, do you think this is awfully made one or is it usually that hard?
    2. fist trumpet string is connected with nylon string to the tuning peg on bottom, what is this? do I have to cut it off?
    3. it only has 1 tuning peg on the bottom what is this for?
