Toaster's brave sacrifice: The brave little toaster (1987)

2 questions:
1. how was this not made by Don Bluth!?
2. how was this approved for a freaking kids film!?
regardless, this scene has always stuck with me since childhood. and is the best example of sacrafice I've ever seen in an animated children's film. they could have just shown him stop the machine, but no. they went the whole nine yards and showed the beloved protagonist getting brutally mangled and wrangled by the seemingly unstoppable machinery.
