@@initialyeet3951 it isn't op by any means, it is an excellent anti air (duh) that has almost no equal at its br but against tanks it is useless compared to some other anti air tanks. can't even relyably take out gun barrels with the kugelblitz.
I used to play pre-ground forces. The Corsair was always one of my favourite aircraft, so I'd think it goes beyond just this specific model. Amazing speed, great power, great dive speed. But unlike most similar aircraft it can also turn incredibly well, even if that bleeds a lot of speed. That latter point makes it worse for lesser players as turning tactics are far more intuitive than energy fighting, but in the intro you show a pretty clear understanding of energy tactics so that's a moot point for you. In the air I always preferred the .50 as it had more ammo, but if the 20mm can pen ground targets that's going to be ridiculous to play against. Frankly I can't think of a fair BR whilst it retains AP belts at all, its either going too high or going too low.

All hispano variants (of which the AN/M2 is a US made and modified hispano) got the same buff to 38mm. So you can get the same number of guns and pen all the way down at 3.0 in the UK tree (sea hurricane, Beaufighters VIc and X) and 3.3 in the US tree. If you dont care how many hispano's you have on your plane there are earlier choices and I think theres a french plane (with the same 38mm of pen) all the way down at 1.3 for example.
@@RandomPerson-ob1hk Hispanos are a family of 20mm cannons you can find on American, British, French, and Swedish (as well as a few others here and there) WW2-era planes as well as most turbo-props and jets made up till the early 50's until they were replaced by ADEN's, DEFA's, and whatever 20mm the Americans settled on.
This thing was already a monster and it's been a solid choice of mine to terrorize axis planes in air RB. It looks like the time has come for it to give ground RB the same treatment.
@@kevindavid732 1v 2 Ta gets eaten alive by F2G, Spitfire or P-51H. If you win that' s due to your opponents being clueless. And I have hundreds of matches in Ta-152H and pretty damn good stats too. But I'm not gonna lie to myself just because I had some good battles, the plane is not that good. F2g or F4U or P-51H can just disengage at will, especially at lower alt.

I’m not sure if the livery on the F4U is a purchasable skin or a WTLive thing, but interestingly enough it seems to be a semi-historical replica of a plane belonging to the Marine Fighter Squardron VMFA-332 known as “the Moonlighters”. They were VMA-332 around the time they flew F4U’s in the Korean War and were a squadron of which both my mother and father were a part of in the early to mid 2000’s. Very cool Odd!

After the recent nerf/buffs I feel like: US 20mms -> US .50 cals -> throwing a brick by hand -> German autocannons. Especially grievous since German autocannons are very rounds limited.
Basically all nations but Germany got buffed. Germany did get a small buff to the MG 151s 20 mm APHE shell, but that was basically useless before, now its slightly less useless. Besides that small buff, Germany was the only nation that received nerfs to 20, 30 and 37 mm HVAP ammo, both for aircraft and vehicles.

@@blu5021 There is a large difference, the 50 cals can even pen 14 mm at 2000 meters now, before it was 4 mm, so any aircraft with 50 cals can destroy spaags from a distance where they are just a speck. Past Br 1.3 and up any aircraft equipped with 50 cals, US 20 or hispano 20 mm cannons are now tank busters. None of that generosity was extended to Germany, they just received about 20% AP nerfs to their HVAP ammo.
Odd makes this look so easy. His strategic maneuvering and knowledge of other planes in the air is absolutely impeccable. He also has excellent intuition for aiming guns and rockets. New players watching this will see what he's doing and probably think that this stuff is easy to do... but it is not. I have been playing WT since probably 2012, and this video is still impressive to me. Know that what you're seeing here is a result of lengthy study, practice, AND a great deal of natural talent.

there should be a limit on how many planes can be spawned per game similar to arcade so people actually get to play tanks, or just have an RB air free mode and make airstrikes like arty

These planes are the most fun to fly. They have predictable flight characteristics, solid load-out options, and can take a beating. I could watch gameplay like this all day.
I love how all the youtubers show these F4Us with wing damage with no change really in flight performance but i get slapped and it becomes a life and death struggle to fly the damn things most of the time

Been playing 6.0 to 7.0 across 4 nations right now and there really aren't many people taking the F4U-4B out to ground pound. Especially when there are early jets in uptiers and other more dedicated ground pounders that can be chosen. You kind of need to go all in one way or the other to be picked: dedicated air superiority/fighter or dedicated CAS.
It seems like sacrilege, but the biggest improvement that the Chair Force could make to the A-10, would be to get rid of the giant gatling cannon. Install a much smaller chain-gun in it's place and it would loose no effectiveness, but would be able to carry more munitions.
As an old air warrior veteran I simply dont get the attraction of so saccharine a flight model as the simplified mouse aim used for flying. It offers uber accuracy to planes that simply didnt exist with normal flight controls. It's 'realistic battles' - should probably require 'realistic controls' for airplanes if you choose to use them in battle. This setting is a step under "sim" and the main difference in realistic mode is you dont have to use trim or engine management, but the instructor aids are all turned off and you need to use a joystick. I also mapped all of my tank controls to a thrustmaster t1600 so there's no switching in battle if I decide to take a plane. Throttle controls fwd / rvs - rocker is for steering, the joystick handles the turret and views and weapons. it's a trick HOTAS setup for tank battle.

this is my stress free lineup too. i come back to it if I'm having a bad WT day. it never let me down. I have been enjoying this plane for little over a year now. theshiznos on twitch is god with this thing.
I really love the corsair thats at 4.7 and the 6.0 is just a pure upgrade. After spending a waste of time and lions on the P-61, Im finally starting to work on this plane. Can't wait to use it in 2 months because I mainly play Ground RB and you get jack for RP in planes.
Shooting 1-2 of these down with my lil 4.3 Bf 109 is half my air combat experience. Also: Seeing this doing tab kill while the Bf 109 AP 20mm needs half a belt just to turn the inside of a tank into the Simpsons is a tad maddening.
The F4U 4B is now unfortunatly a shadow of itself. Bombs are still fine but the M3 cannons got nerfed way to hard.. they now deal around 1/4 of the damage of the M2 cannons.
I was playing the maus with my friend and got a full uptier to 8.7 on the first map in this video we crossed the bridge entering the city from the south and got shafted on first contact. I brought the 15mm halftrack to help my friend repair but ended up killing like 4 medium tanks an AML-90, a helicopter, and 2 planes, All back to back to back I was going retard mode on the mic the whole time and recorded it with GeForce, but didn't know I had to move the file to keep it safe... lost the whole thing when GeForce wiped my highlight folder ☹️
i just started grinding usa tech tree for the western front planes but that intro just got me so excited for the pacific planes. corsair so beautiful. amazing intro odd
Hands down my favorite lineup in the game, love mauler as well. 6.0 GRB is close second these days though. Cen mk1 is so freaking good. Teamed with tempest MkV, Wyvern and Spit VC

I really wish that Gaijin would make a separate game mode for just ground vehicles. Unfortunately, most of the time, aircraft add nothing to the game, other than ruining actual fun gameplay. Most vehicles can't defend themselves from aircraft, short of relying on your teammates, which you can't do anyways. They also tend to lose ground battles, unless you already have ground superiority, since they don't cap points. So many games have been lost because 40% of my team goes into aircraft, while 90% of the enemy are still pushing hard in their ground vehicles. And the amount of times I've just started driving out of spawn, just for someone to drop a bomb on top of me...
A year later the F4U-4B is at 5.7 and now gets into 4.7 lobbies and is absolutely god-like. It is by far my favorite plane in the game and I will always recommend it for any new player or new to USA player. Edit: and they added custom loadouts for it, so now it has bombs, rockets, and 20mms.

God, the F3D-1 is quickly becoming my favorite cas plane, 2 2000 lbs bombs, 4 20mm s, and it’s quite maneuverable at higher speeds. Becomes a flying brick at 500+ and 250-

Regarding "Germany has alot of high pen MK103 to compensate" Not really. Germany atleast has to choose between CAS and Air Superiority. The only platform that can somewhat compare and has a 103 is the Ta-152C, meanwhile every US or british fighter has either the new insane 20mm or the new insane .50cals. This means Germany has to choose between effective cas or air superiority, while the british and US don't have to choose as every fighter is now not only good for air superiority but als insane at cas. Not to mention that the .50cal. penetration values are complete BS even by US wartime reports, and the same is true for the british 20mm AP penetration that is also utter BS, even by their own reports (they have about 7-8mm too much pen which makes a hughe difference). CAS has become so cancerous in _ground_ RB (it has been cancerous before thanks to supercheap US fighters and Arados revengebombing) that i just quite grinding out Germany and Italy and decided to just play US again as it is now so easy, as you will alaways have Air superiority and you can also be absolute cancer yourself thx to the cheap fighters. tl;dr: Allied .50cals and 20mm now significantly overperform, even by their own testing, meanwhile the german 30mm and 37mm significantly underperform, by both their own test reports and allied testing reports.
The pen formula applies to all rounds the same, no 'but this report says X pen and this report says Y pen" crap. Germany not having good CAS/fighter options is just not true, but please, continue on how Germany just suffers sooooooo much. Horse is dead, Jim.
I really need to spade the rest of my Corsairs. They're not as grand and heavily laden as the Thunderbolt, but they can put down an absolute storm of fire with those cannons. Great fighter to accompany the AM-1, AD-2 or AD-4, etc. if you run multiple planes in a lineup like I do.
So that’s the plane that’s been making my life absolute hell for my 5.7 lineup. I haven’t died to the plane but it’s crippled me where the enemy ground tanks had an easy kill. Yet they nerfed the Horton’s HVAP belts because reasons.
Everything wrong with CAS in WT.. right there. I get the impression if it keeps up in this way, the only people in tanks in GF will be pilots waiting to get enough SP to spawn a plane. Then there'll be bugger all ground vehicles in play for pilots to get their dopamine fix.

Terrorizing Bf 109 K4 and Ta-152H outnumbered 3:1 due to Ju-288 spam isn't that difficult :P

I honestly see no real difference. .50s still feel a but better, the german guns seem fine to me

I love these combo video they teached in the past on how to do closest support. I would always love to see more of these types of videos.

It's 'realistic battles' - should probably require 'realistic controls' for airplanes if you choose to use them in battle. This setting is a step under "sim" and the main difference in realistic mode is you dont have to use trim or engine management, but the instructor aids are all turned off and you need to use a joystick.
I also mapped all of my tank controls to a thrustmaster t1600 so there's no switching in battle if I decide to take a plane. Throttle controls fwd / rvs - rocker is for steering, the joystick handles the turret and views and weapons. it's a trick HOTAS setup for tank battle.

this is my stress free lineup too. i come back to it if I'm having a bad WT day. it never let me down. I have been enjoying this plane for little over a year now. theshiznos on twitch is god with this thing.
I really love the corsair thats at 4.7 and the 6.0 is just a pure upgrade. After spending a waste of time and lions on the P-61, Im finally starting to work on this plane. Can't wait to use it in 2 months because I mainly play Ground RB and you get jack for RP in planes.

Shooting 1-2 of these down with my lil 4.3 Bf 109 is half my air combat experience.
Also: Seeing this doing tab kill while the Bf 109 AP 20mm needs half a belt just to turn the inside of a tank into the Simpsons is a tad maddening.
The F4U 4B is now unfortunatly a shadow of itself. Bombs are still fine but the M3 cannons got nerfed way to hard.. they now deal around 1/4 of the damage of the M2 cannons.
If you still want a challenge video, I challenge you to bring the Puma(2.7 boi), the wirbelwind, or the spaghettiwind to a 9.0+ game and get a nuke
I was playing the maus with my friend and got a full uptier to 8.7 on the first map in this video we crossed the bridge entering the city from the south and got shafted on first contact.
I brought the 15mm halftrack to help my friend repair but ended up killing like 4 medium tanks an AML-90, a helicopter, and 2 planes, All back to back to back

Hands down my favorite lineup in the game, love mauler as well. 6.0 GRB is close second these days though. Cen mk1 is so freaking good. Teamed with tempest MkV, Wyvern and Spit VC

Your piloting skills are phenomenal, I actually have way more fun watching you play CAS than on the ground sometimes.
I really wish that Gaijin would make a separate game mode for just ground vehicles. Unfortunately, most of the time, aircraft add nothing to the game, other than ruining actual fun gameplay. Most vehicles can't defend themselves from aircraft, short of relying on your teammates, which you can't do anyways.
They also tend to lose ground battles, unless you already have ground superiority, since they don't cap points. So many games have been lost because 40% of my team goes into aircraft, while 90% of the enemy are still pushing hard in their ground vehicles.
And the amount of times I've just started driving out of spawn, just for someone to drop a bomb on top of me...
plus one…I really want to play ground battle not bloody kids dropping bombs on me without any chance almost to got them from the sky

A year later the F4U-4B is at 5.7 and now gets into 4.7 lobbies and is absolutely god-like. It is by far my favorite plane in the game and I will always recommend it for any new player or new to USA player.
Edit: and they added custom loadouts for it, so now it has bombs, rockets, and 20mms.

God, the F3D-1 is quickly becoming my favorite cas plane, 2 2000 lbs bombs, 4 20mm s, and it’s quite maneuverable at higher speeds. Becomes a flying brick at 500+ and 250-

Regarding "Germany has alot of high pen MK103 to compensate" Not really. Germany atleast has to choose between CAS and Air Superiority. The only platform that can somewhat compare and has a 103 is the Ta-152C, meanwhile every US or british fighter has either the new insane 20mm or the new insane .50cals. This means Germany has to choose between effective cas or air superiority, while the british and US don't have to choose as every fighter is now not only good for air superiority but als insane at cas. Not to mention that the .50cal. penetration values are complete BS even by US wartime reports, and the same is true for the british 20mm AP penetration that is also utter BS, even by their own reports (they have about 7-8mm too much pen which makes a hughe difference).
CAS has become so cancerous in _ground_ RB (it has been cancerous before thanks to supercheap US fighters and Arados revengebombing) that i just quite grinding out Germany and Italy and decided to just play US again as it is now so easy, as you will alaways have Air superiority and you can also be absolute cancer yourself thx to the cheap fighters.
tl;dr: Allied .50cals and 20mm now significantly overperform, even by their own testing, meanwhile the german 30mm and 37mm significantly underperform, by both their own test reports and allied testing reports.

The pen formula applies to all rounds the same, no 'but this report says X pen and this report says Y pen" crap. Germany not having good CAS/fighter options is just not true, but please, continue on how Germany just suffers sooooooo much.

I’ve been taking this in my 6.7 Lineup to support the AD4. Even in full upteirs it shreds ground targets
I really need to spade the rest of my Corsairs. They're not as grand and heavily laden as the Thunderbolt, but they can put down an absolute storm of fire with those cannons. Great fighter to accompany the AM-1, AD-2 or AD-4, etc. if you run multiple planes in a lineup like I do.
Can you please play the XA-38, it’s basically an American Hs-129 on steroids, it also has 4 500lbs bombs.

So that’s the plane that’s been making my life absolute hell for my 5.7 lineup. I haven’t died to the plane but it’s crippled me where the enemy ground tanks had an easy kill. Yet they nerfed the Horton’s HVAP belts because reasons.
Everything wrong with CAS in WT.. right there. I get the impression if it keeps up in this way, the only people in tanks in GF will be pilots waiting to get enough SP to spawn a plane.
Then there'll be bugger all ground vehicles in play for pilots to get their dopamine fix.

A good German one is the Do 335 B-2 as it can side pen a jumbo with its Ground target belts on the Mk103 cannons
