Fair play to Jim White for even putting that bet on at start of season. Not many people would have went for that
Most bets had them 7th, Jim was betting at least 1 of the top 6 would slip up this year as 50% of the time one of them do and as they didn't last season it was a pretty good bet that they would this season. It would have been fair play if he said top 4 as i don't think anyone would have guessed that 3 of the top 6 would slip up as badly as they did. But just 1? I'd say it was a pretty good bet to make. 50/50.
@@Reina5342 He made a bet on a side which finished 11th last year and was fighting relegation for 2/3rds of the season. Everything looks rosy in hindsight.
@@anon-zk6iz Guessing 11th is much harder than guessing who will be in the top 6. If you think one of the top 6 slip up and you think outside of them there is only one team that can overtake them, it's a pretty safe bet to make. Newcastle were favourites to upset the top 6, so betting that they will is not exactly mind blowing. Next season Villa could cause the upset tho.
nah it was obvious this year they were breaking top 6, i had them down for top 4 personally, Arsenal outdid my estimates but i had both spurs and chelsea falling well off (Chelsea don't have any real quality and barring Son and Kane neither do Spurs.)
I thought they COULD get top 6, but never thought they actually would as I didn't see the complete collapse of all the other big boys. I thought they'd get 7/8, & after transfer window closed I thought of they are on it & get lucky with one of the big 6 dropping off they could sneak in

i looked it up, a 20p coin weighs 5 grams. 5x20p = £1 so 25g per £ that makes it 25kg

I hope people aren’t smug about this bet going Jim’s way, or Gary Neville being right about the league leaders. Logically I don’t think it was a bad take to say Newcastle couldn’t get into Europe, I don’t think Simon thought chelsea and Liverpool could get so much worse in a year, and that spurs wouldn’t have improved after narrowly getting into the Champion league. Just like Gary Neville wouldn’t have thought arsenal win against Bournemouth by the skin of their teeth at home, or draw with bottom-of-the-league Southampton. Beating Newcastle away, and being 2-0 up at Anfield. I don’t think any of these prediction can be fodder to be like “ I told you so” football is too random. It’s more of a stab in the dark, that the media-people try to make it sound.
