For those who wonder why Jisoo, Jennie, Rose and Lisa debuted instead of any of these other girls......YG held monthly recitals for all the trainees(which is probably what this video is) and would try them out in all sorts of combinations. They found that the four who wound up in Blackpink had an unbeatable chemistry and charisma that wasn't matched in any other combination. On another note, young Jisoo was such a cutey!
Actually no. This was the "future 2NE1" original lineup at the time. Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa weren't a part of it, they were in "Pink Punk" lineup wich had 9 members back in 2012 (they even had a logo that same year and did some promos), but ended up being scrapped, shortened and it's now what we know as BLACKPINK with just 4 members.
I don't know much about BP. But they were going to be 9 girls and the group name was pink punk. And the girls from the original line up left the agency (one of them was Miyeon who is currently in Gidle) Then just the 4 girls (current BP) had to debut as BlackPink

Out of topic but I just want to share that this made me realize something so important about life that even if they're good and labeled as future 2ne1, the end of the training process can change anytime. Even if you're the number 1 now it can change the last minute of the decision so don't brag and be humble. Like life. One of the members that was going to be a part of this group left, so BP ended up debuting while they reshuffled and replanned the new group. In between that, another member left after her contract ran out. It’s not rocket science, it’s just business. They had a group planned and it fell through. BP debut got pushed back because they weren’t as prepared to be debuting as soon as they did. Things change in business and to continue to make money they have to make changes. YG is a business - not an amateur dance and singing studio.... They do have to put the business first to keep going. No different than any other business

Lee Seoyeon debuted in Fromis_9 Moon Sua debuted in Billlie Truth be told things didn't go very well for Seoyoung, she only released one song, three years ago and it has less than 18k views. I couldn't find anything recent, I think she retired. Sooah's career went better. She has been releasing songs for over 3 years and some have over 1 million views. Not great, but she is still active as an idol. Fromis_9 doesn't get the best treatment from Pledis or Hybe and has been a bit mismanaged, but they have a loyal fanbase and are definitely a well-known group. Billlie came from a small company, which makes their success very impressive. They are not huge, but they bring in good numbers.

For people who are confused: YG had plans to debut 2 girl groups - Future 2NE1 & Pink Punk (who YG media played as his version of SNSD). Pink Punk was supposed to debut back in 2012 with all the Who's That Girl/The Girls Are Coming teasers. Back in 2012, YG already revealed Jennie (through pictures and her rapping), Lisa (dance practice video) and Jisoo (through pictures). YG also revealed Kim Eunbi and Euna Kim (through videos of them rapping)... PinkPunk at the time had like 7 members, but because of the constant delays, members left (eg Cho Miyeon, Kim Eunbi & Euna Kim etc.)..... (Also as a side note, Jinny who was originally part of the Pink Punk line up was moved to the Future 2NE1 line up) 3-4 years laters, PinkPunk was left with 4 members... Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa and Rose (as a side note, although Rose wasn't revealed back in 2012, she was featured in GD's album as "?"). YG then officially named them BlackPink and that's how BlackPink was formed..... At the moment, there are no news of Future 2NE1 members, but I'm pretty sure Jinny Park, Moon Sua, and Jang Hanna are part of the line up. A few months ago, there was a rumour saying that YG will debut another girl group (Future 2NE1) straight after BlackPink, but after all the horrible reaction to those rumours, YG denied it... But after BlackPink's REALLY successful debut, who knows when YG will debut Future 2NE1. For those who wonder why Jisoo, Jennie, Rose and Lisa debuted instead of any of these other girls......YG held monthly recitals for all the trainees(which is probably what this video is) and would try them out in all sorts of combinations. They found that the four who wound up in Blackpink had an unbeatable chemistry and charisma that wasn't matched in any other combination.
On another note, young Jisoo was such a cutey!
Actually no. This was the "future 2NE1" original lineup at the time. Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa weren't a part of it, they were in "Pink Punk" lineup wich had 9 members back in 2012 (they even had a logo that same year and did some promos), but ended up being scrapped, shortened and it's now what we know as BLACKPINK with just 4 members.

Out of topic but I just want to share that this made me realize something so important about life that even if they're good and labeled as future 2ne1, the end of the training process can change anytime. Even if you're the number 1 now it can change the last minute of the decision so don't brag and be humble. Like life. Again, YT views are not success indicators. 2NE1 had only been active for 5 years, but they made such a huge impact in the industry that they coined the term "Monster Rookies," and being labeled as "IDOLS of all IDOLS" and "KPOP Queens" is insane.
Remember that the Internet and music streaming platforms were not as popular during the second generation, but 2NE1 made it all possible for them to be at the top.

In between that, another member left after her contract ran out. It’s not rocket science, it’s just business. They had a group planned and it fell through. BP debut got pushed back because they weren’t as prepared to be debuting as soon as they did. Things change in business and to continue to make money they have to make changes. YG is a business - not an amateur dance and singing studio.... They do have to put the business first to keep going. No different than any other business

Truth be told things didn't go very well for Seoyoung, she only released one song, three years ago and it has less than 18k views. I couldn't find anything recent, I think she retired.
Sooah's career went better. She has been releasing songs for over 3 years and some have over 1 million views. Not great, but she is still active as an idol.
Fromis_9 doesn't get the best treatment from Pledis or Hybe and has been a bit mismanaged, but they have a loyal fanbase and are definitely a well-known group.
Billlie came from a small company, which makes their success very impressive. They are not huge, but they bring in good numbers.

Guys, them and BlackPink were never competing, Blackpink was always meant to debut first (Even when they were 9 members) because of age, this group wasn't ready. Exactly... future 2ne1 n Blackpink are two different groups. No one replace anyone cause everyone was in the original line up. YG was supposed to debut both future 2ne1 n BP but they wait until the future 2ne1 girls to grew up since they were young but all the girls left in the End cause YG kept on delaying it.
Back in the day Blackpink were known as NGG (New Girl Group / New Girls Generation) and were different concept from Future 2ne1.

For people who are confused: YG had plans to debut 2 girl groups - Future 2NE1 & Pink Punk (who YG media played as his version of SNSD). Pink Punk was supposed to debut back in 2012 with all the Who's That Girl/The Girls Are Coming teasers. Back in 2012, YG already revealed Jennie (through pictures and her rapping), Lisa (dance practice video) and Jisoo (through pictures). YG also revealed Kim Eunbi and Euna Kim (through videos of them rapping)... PinkPunk at the time had like 7 members, but because of the constant delays, members left (eg Cho Miyeon, Kim Eunbi & Euna Kim etc.)..... (Also as a side note, Jinny who was originally part of the Pink Punk line up was moved to the Future 2NE1 line up)
3-4 years laters, PinkPunk was left with 4 members... Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa and Rose (as a side note, although Rose wasn't revealed back in 2012, she was featured in GD's album as "?"). YG then officially named them BlackPink and that's how BlackPink was formed.....
At the moment, there are no news of Future 2NE1 members, but I'm pretty sure Jinny Park, Moon Sua, and Jang Hanna are part of the line up. A few months ago, there was a rumour saying that YG will debut another girl group (Future 2NE1) straight after BlackPink, but after all the horrible reaction to those rumours, YG denied it... But after BlackPink's REALLY successful debut, who knows when YG will debut Future 2NE1. But considering how BlackPink's debut was delayed for 4 years, we'll probably see Future 2NE1 in 2020 😂
EDIT: also you can see the Pink Punk girls sitting on the left hand side of the room in this video. I can spot Jisoo, Rose, Lisa and Jennie on the far left xD and if you pause at 1:28, you can see there's about 7-8 girls sitting down

The trainees (and their parents) knew they might or might not debut or might not even succeed if they debut.
