- One of the best games of StarCraft 2 I've seen so far this year. Some might even refer to it as one of the games of the year but I would never say such a thing. This is a Terran versus Zerg between ByuN and Reynor where practically the entire map mines out of Minerals and Vespene Gas.

I like these late game stalemates where they regress back to the one-two hero units deciding the fate of the ending. That infestor on the obligatory stealth mission/level...only to be spotted by the first raven to be built ever rallying on the army ball. Such an ignominious death.
I think its the second raven (the first one already in the main army)
He already had a raven with the main group.

Coming back and watching these older videos paid off. This was an excellent Byun game.

I wonder why he was surprised about the hellbats. If the zerg goes broodlord they are a life saver one shotting broodings ( if upgraded)

As long as there is minerals to be mined, the zerg has an additional advantage over terran and that is "how fast can I re-make my army".
There only needs to be one engagement where both players loose the majority of their forces and zerg is gonna come out on top because they can, what, pump units out of 5 bases?
Especially in this game, I was waiting for that because there was creep everywhere, which allows a freshly formed zerg force to do crazy rushes right up into terran bases.
Loved the gameplay.
A cautious terran and a zerg who has to play it cautious too.

@LowkoTV forgot to mention something related to the lore, in the end, humanity survive.
I feel like the big ghost vs broodlord infestor fight around 26:00 really showcase how zerg late game is so awkward against terran.
Byun’s army contained several reapers and hellbats on accident. There was even a big fungal that landed on the left wing of the ghost squad. Yet 26 broodlords pretty much melted in comparison.
At this point i feel like when im playing T into Z in a game pass 15 minutes i can just blind build some ghost and it’ll be fine.
Fair comment really. Yet in this case I wholeheartedly support the wholesale slaughter of mass broodlords 🤣
What, you think holding one button for rapid snipe and waving your mouse to kill 10 ultras/broods instantly isn't balanced?!!?! no way. /s

That will be cool, but i think if you do that then reduce the slow ammount it has to balance it.
This game really feels like lore accurate Zerg vs Terran.

Byun maneuvering his army like a war general at the end was amazing to watch. Even using his last resources to make a raven and cinch the game *mwah

The Battle at 26:16 really shows how imba are Ghosts vs zerg... There isn't any lategame zerg unit that can fight a ghost heavy army, even with huge fungal...
At least Terran gotta ghosts, cause Zerg is an OP race in general.
Larva is the cause of units like the ghost.
The zerg can pump out a second army to counter your composition super fast.
This leads to oppressive units like the ghost that work vs anything the enemy can throw at them.
@@vitorh3568 Hardly! They're vulnerable early game, can't wall off, have poor anti-air until at least game, need to fight on creep to win most of the skirmishes. I've been playing SC2 on and off since release and I don't think Zerg have ever actually been OP. There was an issue with Infestors once being a bit too effective but general speaking Zerg have always been playing catch-up with the other races in my eyes. You gotta be a great Zerg player to beat a good player of T or P.

Once a Terran with good micro gets a Ghost army, I fast forward to the end of video to see if there were any surprises. There has yet to be...
That's my point when I say Terran is OP. If you got the right even the best can fall against it. Neither zerg nor protoss have that from units

@@godhandvoid9795 So far I never seen zerg or protoss have a particular composition that is hardly beaten as a ghost army. Of course you will find games where players make mistake or take the other by surprise, but straight attack, a ghost army deestroys whatever a zerg or protoss have, because of the characteristics of the units, not players' skill

ultralisks woudl benefit from a leaping pounce like charge style move similar to zealot charge ability that would allow them to gap close once their pathing determines a valid target.. maybe make it do a burst AOE damage to give ultras a bit more balance against the onsluaght of nonstop snipe spam?
One of the most beautiful matches I've watched ever, and so representative of the two races narrative dynamics: Zerg swarming into entrenched terrans. Such a beautiful narrative and perfectly delivered, down the to the end with terrans tip-toeing around the map very slowly and cautiously, knowing how easily they could be overwhelmed despite the overall advantage they had.
It's obviously fake though. They are just messing around. This is setup.

Ultra buff Idea: chitinus plating gives untras immunity (or more resistance to) snipe, terran would still have answers, but couldent counter everything the zerg has with ghosts
I don't think snipe should be so strong against massive units. It doesn't make much sense to me for a Barracks unit to kill an Ultralisk in 3 shots with 10 range. It should take 5 shots at least.
@@asterpw I agree. Ghosts sod do less dmg, meaning more use in siege tanks, or Vikings for broods. More variety in late gsme
@@ferallhamster970 make the snipe cancel if unit leaves range, make the emp a banshee skill and ghost a light unit....game would be basically the same, but ghost is no longer the ultimite unit
@@stixinst5791 okay, in exchange, lets make Queen transfusion cost more EN, become a Light unit, and creep spead speed is reduce by 50%, DEAL?
@@tigera6 that is a bit of an overkill don't you think? I just moved a spell and made ghost more in line with other spell casters. I can give you queens as armored and 50% more transfuse cost
But if you wish to reduce ammount of creep by 50% you need to compensate zerg to stand a chance.....one scan can remove area of up to 4 creep tumors or you can spawn a mule. Therefor 4 creep tumors of creep should equal a mule in minerals output.....or you know. Make the scan cost twice as much and loose to anything that burrows
Or make the creep give bonus supply cap (like + %of total tiles covered= if a zerg has control of 60% of the map he has 260 max supply)
I feel like Byun always forgets the attack upgrade.

Even at the end when you subtract the drone count it was like 120zerg supply vs 190terran supply. I think even if tanks were unseiged and did their normal attack, I think he could have won the fight. He also had options of floating buildings over for vision and placing them down to create chokepoints if he wanted.
Great match to watch.
In my opinion, Byun is using Roman strategy at late Republic era. Camp and lay siege to stave the enemy.
Still cant believe that they didn't balance the ghost, crazy OP unit.
If they did that they would have to do the same with lots of zerg units. Those banelings for example... just attack move for a lots of damage and gg.
@@vitorh3568 but banelings can be split against and forced to have low efficacy, The issue with Snipe is that it cost very low energy and has a massive range, its not like zerg can just dodge it, so ghost are always extremely cost efficient. ex: Byuns 26 ghosts(3900 minerals, 3250 gas) easily destroyed raynors 16 brood lords(4800 minerals, 4000 gas) even though brood lords are supposed to be zergs long range cost effective siege unit. I'm not saying ghosts are so OP that their the reason Byun won, but snipe is entirely too strong
Why no swarm hosts when Reynor was sitting outside the third base? Especially with that kind of of creep spread.
36:00 I think he is holding those mineral in reserve in case of a tie. He can put 1 SCV on it to get minerals to get more time to kill stuff.
Byun could have scanned and landed some mules on the banelings.
The reapers were not a mistake , it was a pro move

I think Ranor need hydra zerg for his groung army and swarm hosts for his harrasing army to get more efficient trades.
From time to time I have a feeling like play some games again in sc2. But watching this I remember why I dropped this game in a first place

Ultralisks have to be the most sad lategame unit in all of SC2. They really need a buff or something so they can do something other than get in the way and then die. And while I understand snipes do a ton of damage, the ultralisk shouldn't get popped in a single blow after it's defenses have been fully upgraded.
I think they should stack with ling bang. Then terran will have to pick between sniping and losing his ghosts or retreating.

@@frankwhite2072 I mean, TvZ was not really affected at all by the patch, so I though you mean to say it changed TvZ in someway, when it didnt. In term of SC2 scene as a whole, yeah, the patch solve the most eyesore issue, which was double SG Voidray. But the fix was easy, they simply revert it back to its previous value.

Ghost is OP. Plain and simple. Cancelled snipe _should not refund energy_. If your ghosts are caught by fungal, you MUST do more than just literally stand in place and spam click snipe.
This also happened in Scarlett vs Byun. This isn't god-tier micro. This is literally mass ghost spamclicking snipe without bothering to split or even retreat from fire.

I've been watching professional StarCraft since 2007 at least, the number of times where a map is FULLY mined out is around a douzen, give or take 1 or 2 matches. It always ends the same way though, in one giant clash in the middle. The player with the more mobile army more often than not ends up winning by microing in and out of range to kill a unit here, a unit there, and after an hour, something is gonna give out... making the smallest of mistakes gets punished HAAAARD at that point, so there's even less room for them when there's no more resources available. Byun played that game extraordinarily well, and Reynor got punished for being so greedy, leaving the terran do whatever he wanted. I'm guessing that he tried doing an SC1 build called Ogre Zerg rather than playing his usual style. Amazing game regardless!
More like reynor cant even touch Byun rather than leaving the terran alone, its turtle terran.

Mid: tank def
Late: tank, ghost snipe, scan synergy repeat till 25+ minute mark.
(scan, snipe, run back toward tanks, dead zerg, repeat)
@@nahruz.w3044 You do know that Reynor stick with lingbane for like 15 minutes into the game right? then going mass Ultra against Ghost of all thing, while repeatedly crashing into the most fortified defensive location and fail. Its ont that Reynor cant touch Byun, he did but just failed.

I feel like Ghosts are too good, though I do think they are probably necessary under the current balance. There are very few situations in which a terran player should not go ghosts late game, I don't think there is ever a build in a TvZ game, and even in most TvP games should go ghosts. They just answer too many things at once.
The weakness of ghosts is they need the micro. They are expensive, and can be easy killed by protos units(zealots, stalkers)

@@kubm4s915 The thing is that I feel what makes them unbalanced is the EMP. The EMP is just seems so absurd, you can do that dropship thing with the Ghost and EMP and that's like half the army of the Zerg not being able to do anything
@@zant1566 half army of zerg? Maybe protos army? EMP effects to spellcasters(vipers, infestors, quenns). And what about infestors. One shot and half army of Terran moves like turtles. And what about storm? One storm and half army of Terran /Zerg is dead
@@kubm4s915 I mean yes, Ghosts having EMP is necessary, but one ghost completely negating almost every spellcaster with a well placed EMP is absolutely ridiculous, especially considering that once infestors and high templar have no energy they are completely worthless, while Ghosts can cloak, snipe and do good damage even outside of snipe. Not only that, but when you are hit by an infestor or a high templar, you can at least move out of the way and even still shoot, while EMP just fucks up one type of unit for the entire battle plus in the case of Protoss does massive amounts of damage as well. EMP just needs a nerf, it's way too strong as it is rn, just like how Infestors were nerfed and made so that their fungal slows and not just grounds units

Even though i do not understand 90% of the strategy talk this is still fun to watch just because of the battles and constant back and forth.
I thought that was a leviathan for a moment!
