That's a pretty legit way to control the DCCD, way better than factory and simple and clean looking. Looking forward to seeing you drive into the software when you decide to
When I 6spd swapped my bugeye wagon I debated between the map and the spiider and ended up going with the spiider because I didn't want to find somewhere to put the big box of the map unit. The spiider doesn't have programmable presets but it does have tie ins to the abs sensors for individual wheel speed, and a g-sensor. It is controlled from a knob and button in factory switch locations (I believe you can use the factory STI thumb wheel and switch if you have those) and it displays on the STI cluster. I am quite happy with it, and I'm sure the map is going to work great as well. I know you mentioned you have a spiider in the other car. Can't wait to see how the 2.5 rs turns out
It was a pain, but I did all my connections at the ECU. I depinned the leads from the terminal blocks, stripped the wire casing on the OEM wire that I needed to tap, and used heat shrink with solder to connect the mapp leads to the oem wire, and repinned to the ECU terminal block. Made for a very clean install. BTW, your MPG takes a serious hit on manual mode. You’ll get most, but not all, of it back on auto mode.
Oh those calipers😅 Doing the engine bay harness looks so easy when you are running on hopes and dreams for the moment. I imagine it’d be harder with the ej in there. Love your instructional videos.
Beautiful singing in the end. Can you scream like a goat at the end of the next video? It'd make my day. ❤️ But seriously, keep up the good shit bro. Can't wait to see how this hatch drives when it has an engine again. 🤘🏻
Awesome video, love seeing the difference between the 5 and 6 speed. I got a 20 wrx and love it. Debating if I want yo upgrade to an STI or do the build myself. Would love to see the difference between the STI and WRX in the last gen
As a 2013 WRX owner, I'm loving this series. My 2013 is a DGM, and would look GREAT with those 5x100 wheels, if they're not spoken for... *cough cough hint hint nudge nudge say-no--more say-n-more*
Dude, I think that brown powder coating color mistake turned out awesome! Maybe go with some orange 🧡 brembo stickers to make it pop! Otherwise silver... or maybe white logo. That DCCD controller is very impressive. Would be cool to do a standalone controller on the 2017 STI to find tune it for that EG33 power. I'm pretty sure MoTech makes a plug-in or a few other companies have plug in option that allows custom tuning. Keep up the great work and so looking forward to that first test drive with this new setup.
@@Smeedia I believe it's a motec DCCD controller piggyback plug in unit not a standalone ECU. I've seen it used in rally and road race applications for both the STI and Evo platform. Never really seen an install video or tuning video but I think it would be very cool, especially with your last video got me thinking.
Hey man, I’m neck deep in this job right now. This video is extremely helpful, but did you figure out the ABS wiring? If so, where did you tap into it at?
this video saved me countless hours of research! i do have a question tho, i might have missed it but what is the benefits of running this MAP dccd over a plug and play dccd kit?
Always wondered how to use an aftermarket DCCD. Caliper, Finish is quality, I agree but I'm wondering if the dark brown isn't as boring as the other colors you stated are boring?
I don't think it was the green wire for the brake pedal light. I also did this install and referred to this guide. I checked for continuity at both the DCCD harness and the brake pedal harness so the wiring is good. I could not get it to activate in the mapDCCD software
Man my mecp cert is deep down crying and it's soul died when it saw the vampire taps. Those little blades that cut insulation can cut strands of wire too. This is similar to having pinholes in a water pipe.
Did you say the torque split is 70/30 f/r w/o the controller? I JUST got an STI transmission installed into my 06 OBXT 2 days ago and there's NFW I can imagine doing this. I've also noticed when I accelerate, especially on the highway, the car pulls to the left. Anyone else experience this with the swap?
Gosh I hate vampire clips. I have had them randomly crap out years later. Better to remove the insulation and crimp to it or solder. I like the DCCD spider plus better with the OEM integration and the wheel slip sensors. Mine is working fantastic
Bro I’m having the weirdest issue with my wrx. Every time I wot to get on highway in 3rd gear my car will go from normal operating temp of about 180+ down to 160 degrees coolant temp. Never used to do it. Weird as hell lmao. Damn subarus
Ya, highly under advertised DccD. The default settings aren't bad and almost not worth playing with the 3d maps unless your hardcore trying to dial it in.
@@Smeedia they just seem a little like wet paper without having to do heavy engine work. I come from the LS family and 2-300HP level increases are common with no need to strengthen internals or block. Plus used ones are a gamble. Like I would love to get one for a fun daily.
That's a pretty legit way to control the DCCD, way better than factory and simple and clean looking. Looking forward to seeing you drive into the software when you decide to
The adjustability of this one is so nice 🔥
Congratulations on 100k man! Can’t wait for more content! Keep it up bro 😎
Thank you 🥳 have alot of things lined up now That we are through these how to videos 💪

So I’m calling you when I get to put an STI trans in my car, this is really encouraging me to do this now!
SEND IT WITH THE 6 SPEED 😈
Interresting, more complicated then i was excepting. Good job explaining this!!
Thanks Johnny! 😁
Thanks!
Eyyy appreciate the Dono my friend 🥳
You are more than welcome
Just yo double check the colors you put in the description are not completely the one's you described in the Video
Things ill never do for a million dollar i would of just bought an STi chassis harness and done a harness swap amazing video like always
Alot to do, but definitely an option 🤝

Good to know, I don't think I'll get too good of MPGs 😅😅😅
Oh those calipers😅

Love your instructional videos.
Definitely more of a PIA with the engine in there 😅
Thank you, I been putting that away for ever, good directions, looking forward doing my 12 Hatch. THANK YOU!
Figured this video would be a helpful one 😅🤝
@@Smeedia Yes sir, thats going to be a big time help, I can't wait to install it, BTW, without controller its 40/60 power split 40 front 60 back
I am a fan of the powder coat colour its super unique
It's definitely something diffrent 😅😅😅
Smeedia Friday! Congrats on 100k+ T your army's growning 😎👍🏼.
Thank you my friend ❤️
love seeing a smeedia video pop in my feed when i refresh :D

They've already sold 💔
@@Smeedia SAD PANDA... Can you remind a man what they were? I like the color and look. I think it would compliment my DGM, so I want to look into it.
The calipers look fine 👍 I actually really like the color 💪🏼
UPS brown calipers look 🔥
Lop they're not too shabby 😅🔥

As someone who is color blind, it's the perfect color 😂
Absolutely spot on 😅😅
I have mapdccd!
Looking forward to a little how to read the tables and tune it video
😁🤙
I'll dig into it a bit 🥳🥳🥳
I really want to get that once I get a house so I can do lots of diy like that. It’s still cool 😊

any plans for what u wanna do w these cars once ur done building them? would love to see some autox or track day content from u
We will take the hatch out once it's done 🔥
Great video. Think we have a chance to see you get your hands on the new rs they are coming out with next year?
Ehhhhhh not making any promises 😅
@@Smeedia just make those guys down at the subaru dealership promise you a test drive. Lord knows you give them enough money.
Wiring is fun Tanner, your favorite 🤣💪😊
It's not as bad anymore 😅
You made me feel really dumb haha good job on the wiring.🔥🔥🔥 I hope to do this on my 2014 wrx some day
When the time comes, the videos will be here 💪🤝
I recommend posi-taps next time you need to tap wires!
Looking into them now 👀
How did you mount the controller? Did you open up the casing and drill a hole?
Thanks for the video! I’ll be following it closely for my install.
this video saved me countless hours of research! i do have a question tho, i might have missed it but what is the benefits of running this MAP dccd over a plug and play dccd kit?
The MAP one will allow you to fully adjust things where the spider I belive acts more like an OEM Set up
@@Smeedia appreciate the insight! cant wait to see more on the build!
Can the wire colors you mentioned be applied to other year WRX’s (02-07) or would those be different? Thanks!
They may be in diffrent locations or diffrent colors, I cannot confirm 🙏
A great video brother. Remember ohms law is your friend. 🤣😊
😉😉😉
have any recommendations for a decent radio head unit for a 2017 WRX? The one in that rex is nice!
Idoing 🥳
id recommend posi-taps instead of those t tap connectors. way more secure and will never disconnect
Ordering some, literally anything iver these vampire clips are a win

Honestly after getting them in thr car I actually really like it 🔥
Blaze yellow on the car with the root beer brown brembos 🔥
Ohhhhh that would look so good 🔥😍

@@xfinixter8787 haven't had time to go back and figure it out

Wooooooo...perfect timing
🥳🥳🥳🥳
Does anyone know if you could swap a 2015 wrx non sti six speed into a 08 legacy gt does the 2015 have dsg?
I’m hoping Tanner would know
Yes you can swap them, imo it's not worth it though. They're just as fragile as the 5 speeds are
Thanks not trying to build power just for fuel efficiency due to highway driving
That ‘woooh!’ was legendary 😂
Would getting an intake and a tune be a bad idea on a never modified, well-maintained 2007 WRX?
Nope, send it and tune it 💪
What headunit is in this WRX? I'm looking to update my headunit.
Idoing 🤝🙏
Man my mecp cert is deep down crying and it's soul died when it saw the vampire taps.
Those little blades that cut insulation can cut strands of wire too. This is similar to having pinholes in a water pipe.
think I will leave my dccd alone lol not going rallying any time soon in my 08 sti hatchback.. but we'll done 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you David 🥳🥳🥳
When you’re doing this swap do you need the ej257 or can you use the ej255 with a good tune?
I want to hear about the big turbo bro!!!!! Come on 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Waiting on the last of the stuff to show up to jump on it 🥳
"Seriously guys it's not that scary"
Proceeds to pull out the scariest piece of paper I've ever seen in my life. This shit is terrifying 😵💫
Lol its not too bad 😅😅😅
Getting ready to wire up one to my 08 STI, is any of the wiring gonna be any different?
Progressssss 💪
YESSSSSIR 💪
The calipers actually look dope. I get tired of seeing people do the same colors.
After getting them on the car today and seeing them I actually love the brown 🔥
i have a 2005 STI. Is this better then the stock DCCD controller?
Yes, it gives WAY more functionality to the transmission than OEM would

is this original aem gauge pod or not?
Which one? I use the SMY Cluster
Looks high tech
Issa fancy 🔥
Could share the link for the wiring sheets ?
I downloaded the FSM off of Google, just search for whatever year you need and it'll pull up. Theyare all ZIP files and you'll have the full fsm 🤝
This is where I downloaded it from

A god among men
Caca brown brembos. I can dig it.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
So does this dccd count as a display too?
I just did this. Followed your video and the MAP install manual. I’m throwing codes everywhere. Idk what’s going on.
So what do I have to do to get a dccd on a fa20
Get an STI 6 speed 🤝
Do you really need a dccd for a sti 6 speed swap?
I would highly advise it otherwise you'll only have a 60/40 split
What is an estimate to convert a non dccd set up to a dccd set up?
What items are needed?
Gosh I hate vampire clips. I have had them randomly crap out years later. Better to remove the insulation and crimp to it or solder. I like the DCCD spider plus better with the OEM integration and the wheel slip sensors. Mine is working fantastic
