@@richhobo1216 well i am 20 and i don't know how to drive and neither the majority of my friends. i live near the center of the city so i can walk to all the necessary places that i need (like shops cafes and etc) on my feet in like 70% of the cases. on other occasions i can use a subway since it is also very developed in the city where i live or i can call an uber if i am in a hurry. my mum also learned how to drive only when she was 35 because the bus route that she took to get to work was canceled. it's okay to not know how to drive if your lifestyle doesn't require it. it's the same thing with boiling water. why would you even need to know how to boil water on a stove when you can just push a button on an electric kettle and it will do the job for you? honestly i don't think i've boiled water in a pot for three years or even more, ever since i moved out of my parents' house and bought a kettle

The US is such a large country that driving is considered to be essential in most cases. Of course you could take a ride share service but those costs will very rapidly stack up.
