The past 27 minutes was one of the finest viewing experiences ever on yt. I completely forgot everything around me and followed your tool making, craft tool and machine tool mastery and not sloppy video skills. Thanks, it was exceptional.
So pleased to see this project! Years ago when I was in Watchmaker’s Training I had traded for a lap ball engraver’s vice and all the various fixture arms and dogs but a couple years later was desperate for money when a new child came along and sold it! I have “made do” ever since but now I realize I should have made one. It’s amazing how you get so busy that you don’t think of the obvious until you have wasted a lot of time and energy doing without something so basic. Thank you for sharing this build!
@@TheParkAttendant no I am having to cut back now due to my age and health but I just finished with another trainee a few weeks ago and he has gone on his own. I have trained several and helped many over the years. My partner retired at 82 and I purchased his portion of the watch repair shop and he sold his clock shop portion separately due to my lack of time to ever get involved with it other than making parts for him to use. My real focus was machining parts and fixing damaged pieces. It’s a tremendous field and I started my training in 1970 and am phasing out hopefully after my next birthday at 74 years old. Thanks for your comment! It is finally back to a growing hobby and more full time watchmakers due to people loving more complicated time pieces again.
Congratulations on a fully functional and beautiful reproduction of an iconic hand tool. The originals seem unobtainable at a reasonable price. Very impressive!😀😀
I like how you can make these tools, with the hardware you can find in any store. And the fact that you hold on to scraps so that nothing goes to waste.
Absolutely therapeutic! It's Christmas morning here in South Florida. and watching this was soothing. It brought back many memories of how I did things before I owned a lathe. Now I have three of them. One can't really have too many, you know. 🥰 I wish you a happy and healthy New Year with many more "Beautifully CRAFTY" videos.🥰🥰🥰 Wakodahatchee Chris
I've got a jewelry making pin vise that's similar. They're very handy. Looks like you could use a mini lathe to add to the shop. You could have made that handle in a quarter of the time. And its quicker than a hand drill for filing and cutting those metal parts.
I was looking for some ideas to make chess pieces without expensive equipments and suddenly stumbled on your video!! Your ideas are great and stunning!! 😳😳 Amazing!! Please never stop your hobby, keep building your dreams, don't pay attention to morons that try to discourage you for they are just envious of your amazing skills, intelligence and capability!!! Thank you for your effort, it makes the difference for a lot of peope!!! ❤️❤️❤️
You can buy something similar from most jewelry supply houses for about $15 USD or so. But its cool to watch you make yours from scratch. The copper parts give yours a steampunk kinda vibe which is pretty cool as well. The store bought ones also have a block of metal underneath (where the handle screws into) for mounting it in a bench vise, which I do with mine from time to time. They also come with a rotating table vise base. Thoughts for upgrades for your next one(s). :D Good job, all in all and a great video.
the most painstakingly crafted tools ever seen; their usefulness is very doubtful. the author's presumptuousness is indubitable. as a result, I find them completely stupid!
Without much effort, the same result could be achieved by using melted wax or a similar device to block a small piece of metal. In addition, the fact that you work with improvised devices does not give a good grade. Yes, I can understand that you don't have the necessary funds to buy a small lathe or autogenous welding machine, but if that's the case, don't post works where you use improvised devices. All this gives a note of unprofessionalism, lack of adequate training, poor material condition. Take my observation as advice, not criticism.
The only thing that matters, he has fun building things with his own hands, with tools which are affordable and some of them are even also handmade. It's a DIY Channel and not a hightech, thousends of dollar workshop. I for example love such content! Peacefull greetings from Germany!
This is done with craftsmanship and a highly skilled and adequate training, without any note of unprofessionalism In addition, the fact the work is done with mprovised devices and average handyman tools - except the standing drill - gives outstanding grades. Even the video is good quality. It takes a lot of effort to be able doing and making this, at this level.

I have seen many pin vices made over the years but none come close to yours. This piece is of heirloom quality.
Stunning work.

I am amazed at your ingenuity. Most of your viewers will take the easily accessible hand & power tools for granted. Thank you for another great video.
