In the beginning of the book there was a whole chapter explainining that it will be a simplified model of how dopamine shapes a lot of things in our lives. So I wasn't disappointed. For me, as a novice in this topic anything more complicated would be difficult to read.

Excelent review man. Im currently reading Behave by Robert Sapolsky based on your review, its a great book but man, it is very long and complex

At one point it mentions the argument about how we might be defined not by our conscious pursuit of dopamine, but by our unconscious actions. I dumbs down a lot of the neuroscience to make it digestible and looks at humanity through the lens of dopamine. Some chapters like the ones about addiction and creativity were better than others, but it is still thought provoking.

It being simplistic is a good thing. Too much complexity can make the average reader put it down quickly! Seems like you’re looking for a course on the brain? You were clearly in this for a lecture. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Can I make a book review request/suggestion? It's the book: Truth: How the Many Sides to Every Story Shape Our Reality by Hector Macdonald.
Thank you, I really enjoy your reviews, I feel very similar about some of the books you have reviewed, that's why I'd like to know what'd you think about the book I mentioned. Thanks.
