Workout headphones and earphones are a big deal for the music loving strength athlete. There are a ton on the market and it can be tedious sifting through the multiple options.

We're not audio buffs, but we still care about the quality of the music we're playing during out work outs and how secure headphones stay in the ear.
To assess the JBL Under Armour True Wireless Flash Headphones, we put them through a variety of tests.
PERFORMANCE
When it comes to performance, the JBL Under Armour True Wireless Flash Headphones were some of the most secure we've ever tried. Whether we were squatting heavy, running through NYC, or jumping in a class, these headphones never budged.
The only slight downfall with these headphones were a few instances of connectivity issues when running through super busy NYC streets.
FEATURES
There were three main features about these headphones that we really liked for both gym-bound and outdoor-loving athletes.
1. Talk-Thru Feature
2. Ambient Noise Technology
3. Under Armour Stormproof Technology
All-in-all, these were pretty solid wireless headphones and would receive a B rating from me. They were incredibly secure, the sound quality was pretty good, and they have nice features!
#underarmourheadphones #workoutheadphones #workoutheadphonesreview
For real. Bulky? Those headphones are sleek asf! And I got mine for a steal.
UPDATE: They finally arrived and I gotta say the actual sound quality itself is kinda garbage. I don't know if I just got a crappy unit or if that just the default sound for them but very disappointed with what I got I thought they would have decent bass but all I ended up with was straight up flat bass with practically no volume or depth whatsoever. Yes they look amazing visually but the lacking sound quality really puts a damper on that..
Newest Update: As the model I got was refrubbished and as I keep using them there actually aren't that bad if you've actually read this far. Congrats the answer to your question is you'll probably like these a lot if you can get them for a decent price ,the sound quality has improved exponentially from when I first got them. The original price if you can afford that is a big if, and, or maybe depending on you and circumstances. Other than that their decently worth it especially if you're looking for workout headphones, their very nice for one of the original wireless rain sleet or snow workout headphone concepts and I'm happy to own a pair. Btw dude decent review video I actually did base my purchase of these about 50% just because you took the time to even do this review video.
Aight good to know got some just now with the same experience. I enjoyed some cheap uolo pulses and I’m like “these can’t be worse!” Literal minutes of use and I’m questioning already
Can confirm these are great headphones. Lightweight, good sound, great battery, really useful features.
An all around solid pair for the everyday athlete, no doubt! - Jake
first impression to pros and cons r very high readable. And it seems to great thread, standards for consumers who wanna buy this. awesome work! :)
I love mine, have had them for a couple years. I bought them for swimming (not underwater) considering they are sweatproof and the pool was very loud and it's always more fun to workout with music. I also bought a waterproof bag for my phone. I do find that it disconnects on occasion with an alarmingly loud noise but that's my only complaint.
Phenomenal Review. Just bought mine at a discounted price because the Under Armour Flash Sport X is about to be released and I saw your video after my purchase. I feel confident in it's abilities now since I'll be using these for non-workout activities. My powerbeats 3 are still rockin for my workouts. Thank you!
Definitely not the only cons. Other cons i realised only after buying:
1. You cannot use the left earphone individually. U can use both together or only the right one individually.
2. Pairing sucks. No multi pairing feature + if you have it connected on one device, and u want to pair on another, u need to ensure the previous bluetooth is off so as to not have it auto connect to that device.
3. Weak charging capability, sometimes u can leave it in the case and it doesnt charge until u keep re-adjusting it.
4. Pathetic connectivity to phone calling apps like whatsapp, duo etc. They just simply wont work even if it is connected to your phone.
All in all, absolutely not worth even half the price its being sold at
sore ears too after extended usage
Awesome review man. I bought a pair and I have to say the noise cancellation on these is nowhere near my air pod pro's. However they do work and sound alot better on my Android devices than the air pods. They might have a slight edge on comfort also. Trying to run air pod pro's on Android but don't get the sound plus for real connection issues
airpods pro vs these .. can you please tell me more which one you preferred please
After watching this vid I have ordered mine. It's been over 2 years now and these earphones never failed me! I use them near every day in the gym. They never fall out; the bass is awesome. Very loyal earphones can honestly only recommend!
Still good for 2024 I assume? Considering of getting this
@@hakimishariff7710 I still have them; there's nothing wrong with them but I use over-earphones now.
Great video man! I'm just getting back into my training and need a fresh pair of headphones to kickstart my workouts. Hopefully, these headphones will meet up to my standards. Thanks man!
id recommend the wireless beats but thats just me.
Pros: Good during the first month of using it.
Cons:
A. Uncomfortable
2. Always falls off when I do cardio.
3. Can't connect to my phone sometimes. I have to put it back on its case until those red lights show up.
4. It doesn't even charge full even if I left it on the case for a whole day.
5. Used up all the charging case battery so I have to charge the case twice a day.
6. starting to hurt my ears when I put them on for longer than 2hrs
7. They come off when I take off my shirt (never happens to my Samsung ear pods they always stay on)
8. When I used it for phone calls, no one can hear my voice.
9. Difficult to switch songs on the pods, you have to press really hard.
10. Lowering the volumes is also a pain in the ass.
Great review! I was hesitant about getting them cuz they're kinda expensive, but after watching your review I think that they're worth the price. THANKS A LOT
Susan Nass get the new Powerbeats pro, they’re better
@@joseramirez3316 Thanks! I was told the same. I'm now waiting for the Navy ones. Hopefully it'll be available this summer!
They are great, as long as Your left earbud is charging. Mine failed to charge after first try. Now I have only right one working because I can't charge left one. I guess JBL is selling these while knowing about that issue. I really regret getting those
I moved to Michigan and got new phones from sprint...long story short= sprint sucked and we had to switch companies in less then a month to Verizon, I ended up returning my Galaxy note 10 and fell on love with the rugged KYOCERA phone which is way smaller but more rugged, as soon as I seem these headphones I knew they were for me, they're rugged, have long battery life & go perfectly with my new rugged phone....
I have it for almost 3 years now. my issue,it is not Charging upside down. specially the left side.
you have to put it in place to charge perfectly.
overall, still the best Earbuds i ever had.
Thanks for the review I will be buying it ina couple of weeks
Great informative vidoe bro. Im guessing these dont have any touch or button controls? You didnt mention anything about skipping through tracks and up/down volume
Hello! These does not has a touch button, the UA logo is the only button on each, are controlled basically by pressing, double pressing and that's all, no volume control, only the features to listen the enviroment.
Nice review. Got mine today and was wondering if there is any dedicated app for the ear buds like the gear for buds from Samsung. Thanks
I have to disagree , with the electric cars going down the road we can't hear them. Love the review.
How do u adjust volume
Using ur controls on phone like in the 80s
You failed to discuss what different taps do
Is it still worth it 2 years later? Dec 2021 for half the price?
Do you recommend this earbuds or the JBL reflect flow? They are really like the same, but the reflect flow are €10 cheaper.
Wondering the same thing man
Whats the noise cancelling like? The ambient noise thing, is that a setting of some sort?
I play drums and have gone through so many Shure e215 in ear headphones due to my sweat eating the wiring. I wonder if these would be ideal for staying in your ear whilst drumming?
@Stef James They’re IPX7, which means water resistant to 1 metre for 30 minutes, and fully resistant to sweat and light rain/water spray.
Is there an app for these earbuds? I would like to adjust the sound a bit more bass would be nice
So you have the ambient sound thing and talk trough but is there like a normal mode where you can't really hear your surroundings? (not nessecarily noise cancelling)
Cool video!! Love you tutorials and love your channel!!!
😮
Need help ! After charging and connect to the phone its only 90% baterai
Sorry for commenting this.. But that's an earphone.. Not a headphone.. There's total differences between earphones and headphones.. I think it should be corrected and be known..
Hey man - don't say sorry! Thank you for the catch and additional information, I updated the title & text accordingly.
Honestly, I knew they were earphones when pubbing, but was naming them off of what Under Armour calls them when searching for other references on Google. I'll be more accurate with the descriptions moving forward per their definitions! Comments like these make us better & more sharp. - Jake
@@Barbend No worries man. I'm sorry again and definitely not offending you. I guess Under Armour gotta get it right as well then. Haha! Peace man! Great video by the way. Keep it up!
@@DanielLimSantoso Haha, no worries at all, man! Have to have a thick skin to work online, and they definitely do. Have a good one! - Jake
How’s the call quality and does it have delays in gaming?
For some reason the earbuds itself won’t charge inside my case... any solution?... they work and they turn on but when I turn them on it gives a sound effect that means that it’s low on battery...
Please let me know the quality of these earbuds while on call, can the other side hears clearly on phone call ? Can i voice reaches the other side clearly ? In short over all phone calling quality is good ?
Isnt I have to put the things inside my ear in order to be stable,I dont sure what is that thing on the headphone
What about phone calls? Mic has good quality?
i have the project rock version, The issue i have with these is not working properly with voice and videocall app like skype and wechat ,when doing a call, the sound automatic switch to phone speaker and cannot change to headset mode
Quite instructive looking forward to coming back.
could you please tell me is this has a stereo calling feature?
good review ... I'm considerething these ones or should I go for the Bose SoundSport In-Ear Wireless Headphones (on sale) ? thanks
Thank you, Simon! Unfortunately, I don't know enough about the Bose SoundSport in-ears to give you an in-depth enough answer there. Sorry I can't help more! - Jake
BarBend do the have a noise cancellation feature so I can hear my music over the background
I have a pair of Bose SoundSport Free wireless headphones I don't know if that's the same model but I wouldn't recommend them straight out of the box and only one side of the earbud works the left earbud doesn't work at all seems to be a major problem with the Bose SoundSport free wireless headphones where is one earbud won't pick up sound from it at all
Hey, I hope you notice my comment.. I just want to know if you notice any delay on the sound when watching videos, its like less than a second? I read this in some reviews.. Im planning to buy one of these but thats the cons that kept me from buying
Honestly, it's never too bad for vids on RUclips and smaller videos. Now, they do have a slight delay at times when watching movies (larger videos), but it usually corrects itself once you pause and let the video buffer a bit. I think having a newer phone may also play a role in this due to Bluetooth connection strength. - Jake
@@Barbend thanks for the reply man! Last question.. should I buy this? Or galaxy buds? Im thinking of using either for all around use
Do these headphones tell u who is calling when receiving a call???
I hope they paid you for this video, you just sold a few pairs lol. Great review dude, appreciated.
I have the project rock version and they are constantly losing connectivity from left to right resulting in signal drop/auto resync.
When compared to my Bose soundsport free, the Bose are much better with no connectivity issues. In 30 minutes I had over a dozen signal drops and that's not exaggerating.
Damn, I'm sorry to hear that! When running that was my main gripe with these, too. They weren't the most consistent.
When was your connection dropping the most? - Jake
@@Barbend Probably more so when running but it would also do it while just doing core or weights. It was annoying enough I stopped and got my Bose fron the car lol.
They dropped at least 20 times in the first or so in 45 minutes. Very random
@@khellendrose360 I feel that. That's right in line with the dropping in mine. I figured it was mostly due to being in NYC, but it seems to be an issue wherever. It's weird though, some days they drop more than others. I ran last night with them and they were nearly perfect, so I'm at a loss on the spottiness.
Sorry to hear all that though, Lawrence! - Jake
@@Barbend Thanks for the update, glad I'm not the only one having this issue. I've reached out directly to JBL asking about an update and they dont have anything. All they could offer is doing a reset, which didn't fix it.
@@khellendrose360 Freaking JBL, lol. I wonder if it could have to do with the Bluetooth on the phone? I'm not sure on the fix for this one. - Jake
Hey there my dear mate Which Bluetooth headset is the best?
I can’t get any bass response whatsoever. Is there an EQ I’m missing.
Do both sides work while using with phone call?
would I buy this or the jabra elite active 65 t s
Ehh....tough call. I lean towards Jabra though! - Jake
Ok but how do i activate the bionic hearing? Talk trough and ambient aware
How do they work in a crowded gym with 200 people using bluetooth devices? I’ve tried many and they all fail at this. I went back to an old iPod shuffle and wired headphones because of this
Really? I've never had an issue with Bluetooth connectivity and I live in NYC. That's really interesting. - Jake
BarBend maybe it’s due to trying to use a smart watch instead of a phone. Phone is way too bulky to run or exercise with so I use either an Apple Watch or Garmin Fenix 5 Plus. Works great outdoors or at home but the minute I get into a crowded 24 Hr Fitness the signal drops continuously. Maybe this is due to watches not blasting a strong enough blue tooth signal vs a cel phone.
@@glennsmooth Honestly, man - that logic checks out. I would guess that's probably it, especially when you consider that newer phones and devices have Bluetooth 5 and most watches do not (...yet!). - Jake
Now I think the question everybody wants to ask... Can you wear them in the shower?!
Yeah bro their waterproofing is their for a reason but I wouldn't do that long term these are still sort of a prototype launch 😅
Can adjust volume from these earbuds?
It's available hands free calling ?
Thanks
Thank you foe review! im realy love it. I know that the Rock introduced its new product recently. I really want to get a review on him.
Its the same I believe with his branding. Ua flash / rock flash
But when you wear right cap ?
Good review thank you
i am in dilemma which one to buy either JABRA SPORT 2 or JBL UNDER ARMOUR. please suggest me
Tbh, they're both really solid. Sound quality, durability, and price are nearly identical, so my advice,
Jabra Pros: More comfortable & slightly better sound quality.
UA Pros: Slightly better ambient noise feature.
Really though, you can't go wrong with either! - Jake
Can you pair these with Philips smart TV?
Why does no one ever discuss volume in these videos? It could be the greatest earbud in the world, it could literally vanish inside my ear to where I don't even know I have it on but it is completely worthless if I can't hear shit.
Better than AirPods
How do I use the Ambient functions and the bionic hearing because I can't get them to work on mine
Same! Did you manage to get it working because my left button just pauses/plays when it says it's supposed to do the bionic hearing....?
What about audio lag on video from RUclips or Netflix
I haven't experienced much lag with these at all. There was a bit when watching on my phone on the subway during rush hour, but that's a case-by-case basis and it doesn't always happen (it prob had to do with my service more than anything else?). If you're on a comp, then you're fine. - Jake
So much lag in mine.
@@najibla Where'd you get yours? It could most definitely be a network issue I get that shit all the time living over 10 miles out of town. They do work perfectly no doubt if you're just chillin' listening to downloaded tracks. 👌 Quite well exceptionally.
how are these compared to beatrs tour pro ?
Help me, i don't know to activate/ deactivate talkthru or something like that, because I feel like the right earbud is more powerful than the left one
Its supposed to be like that.. the sound of left and right is not the same, i dunno how it works but its kinda work like this.. the left one is more on background sound like bass and other back ground music and the right one is for the main sound
Good review!
What would sm do if they lost these earbuds? Is there an app to track these or smth?
No
Jbl dont do that
Hey, loved the review. Also wanted to ask you if you had any connectivity issues with the left earbud, as for me it sometimes doesn't turn on automatically when taking it out of the case as the right one does. Would appreciate any feedback!
Honestly, it happened once during my tests, but not enough to flag it as a consistent concern like the spotty connectivity during my runs. I'm curious if that's a problem with your pair, or the Bluetooth aspect. - Jake
I have this issue very rarely. It happens if I changed the smartphone/source and the headphones have to enable a new connection. Simply you need to press the side with no connection until it turns on again. There is also a hint about this in the manual as far as I remember. During runs I have always a stable connection using apple watch 4, no cut outs since months. As a former Bose, Sony, Samsung True Wireless User I recommend this HP very much.
@@Shinobi_6 Hey man - thank you for chiming in with your experiences. Very appreciated and always welcomed! - Jake
Hardly. Almost all times it connects first time and extremely rarely it drops during use
I have a problem with the right one. It doesnt really activate itself and I cant fix it at all
Tried restarting it in the case doesnt work
Can you turn the volume up? i mean on the headphones them self? regrettable buy regardless
Explain...
Are they waterproof?
Could I shower with them or swimming if they don’t fall
I'll' better wait for Panasonic Technics EAH-AZ70W with ANC
The issue I have with these when I talk to others on the phone they can’t hear me when I talk I can hear them but they can’t hear me. Why this happens idk.
I have the same issue and if I'm outside in the wind forget about it. Sometimes they work well, but other times....not so much. I feel your annoyance. - Jake
BarBend I switched and got the beats wireless from my Verizon I’m like these suck I even got a new pair of the original headphones and still nothing. And I’m on the phone all day with work so I need that. Those headphones had good sound quality but that’s it.
jbl tune 225 wts or those ?
can you connect this to your laptop?
Yes, you can connect them to your laptop, I just did it.
I bought these and really liked them but had to return them because of a P65 Cancer and birth defect warning. Did anyone had to return them as well or had this dilemma?
Tayeb A they have to have these warnings on all electronics to let people know there is a risk.
Musty Nuts Thanks for your reply, I tried to find more details online and it seems they slap that tag everywhere in California like entering Disney Land.... a coffee shop.... and even on products that are sold in Canada but I never get to see such tag here. I first returned the earbuds then bought them again.
Tayeb A it’s a little concerning at first to see, but mostly everything now has radiation in it so that warning just lets you know before you buy a product that it may cause future complications.
Would you recommend these for basketball?
Yeah, they're pretty secure, so I'd recommend them for basketball! - Jake
@Darren Rice I meant like for practicing alone
@Darren Rice 👍
pain in the arse when the left earbud stops connecting though
I feel like everything made by under amour is made to be robust unlike apple which is basically made to break
Oh man. We could dive into personal theories on this all day long,! - Jake
Can you just use one for 5h hours then plug in the other when the first one is out of battery?
Tbh, Mikael - I've never tried that, so I can't help out too much there. - Jake
Don't buy them!
Huge connectivity issues, the sound quality is good but very weak and moreover I can not charge them anymore after one year of usage.
The only advantage is that they look cool but pointless if you keep them home.
Noted
Tks for your review. From vietnam ! I am going to buy this !
Le Hau i dont really like it bruh
Can you play basketball in these
If you have bigger hands these are a go the bose and Jabari I dropped so many times
I drop the smaller earbuds on the reg, too! Feelsbadmayne. - Jake
What about for the high an lows
I hope u can help me
I lose one of them and now i can’t charge it 💔
Please any one help me 💔

it doesnt connect properly to fitbits. got them to refund it.
How to connect left earbuds only ..
I pretty sure they both auto synchronize just leave one in the case and jam out the way you want to.... Just tested this and yeah just leave one in the case they have individually operating functionality.
Lmao, I just realized I had been putting them in wrong for a while and that's why they weren't staying in my ear😂😂
Is it really rubber tho? Because quite many people are allergic to it, me included.
They are earphones or earbuds not headphones. Thank you for the review.
Thanks
How to determine full charge
The case has lights on the end! - Jake
You can also check your phone for Bluetooth battery icon if you have enabled that on your phone.
whats the difference between jbl reflect flow
Just bought 3 of em off eBay for 39.99 a piece.
This or jabra 65/75t
Is anyone else picking up annoying ringing / electronic scanning sounds when wearing these?
Great review
Ok am I the only one who cannot keep anything but apple earbuds in? Not by choice AT ALL. They literally pop right out, no matter what size I use.
Cause u white
Now they are only $53.
also mines always fall out
It is not a charger, it is a usb charging cable.
can i shower, or swim with them on my ear?
Can u swim with these ??
You can try, lol...I used to try to swim with headphones of every kind and nothing ever really worked.....maybe I you're a slow and steady swimmer...I go hard so idk
