I think my favorite thing about this video above anything else is seeing the the musicians get hype for each other when their peers are soloing and just showing the stank face as a sign of respect and knowing that your bandmate is killing it. Loved this
every element of the arrangement is so good. every instrument sticks out uniquely while not overpowering anyone else. even the little vibraphone can be heard and contributes. big props to the guitar players during the solo section too, it's hard to comp with a high gain tone like that without overpowering the band, and they managed to have some nice sophisticated counter melodies and rhythms thrown in while doing so
Crazy when you consider the original was done with two square waves, a triangle wave, and, i forgot the other channel but it was a static channel for percussive sounds.
00:49 that was iso cool! Honestly brass section flows well with rock. It's dang near criminal that they dont get featured enough. And no, Ska doesn't count lol.
Man, this is truly amazing stuff. I had played in a live show with J Charles waaaay back, and he mentioned Contraband when it was just the album for the Contra Covers. I'm so happy y'all are still going strong and putting out such great stuff!
Thank you very much! We’re trying to get better at our camera placement, angles and editing. That’s definitely a whole separate entity outside of doing the audio recording that we initially took for granted and shouldn’t have. It’s a lot of fun trying to map out how to film the session with the stationary and motion cameras. We’re trying not to make it too big of a video production to avoid distracting the musicians from the music. We’re hoping the next session will be even better.
