Somewhere below someone commented it's only the music that makes this scene work..WRONG! This was truly the first time Kim saw Edward for what he was. Misunderstood and someone who only sees the beauty in the world. The "snow" he creates as Kim dances in it is to show one thing only..innocence. Edward doesn't know she's even there and Kim is in her own little world at the moment.. As beautiful as Edward thought Kim was, now it's Kims turn to see just how beautiful he is. ^.^ the music is only a bonus. THIS was the moment Kim fell in love with Edward..Annnd THAT is why this scene works!
David Pierdomenico Burton is a director of a tremendous scope in quality. His works range from masterpieces through very good, good, mediocre and disappointing. He is a genius (because only a genius can conjure up a scene like this, and so many others) but his genius doesn't always break through. But a genius is permanent, so all that remains is to wait for another break-through. It is coming!
@@spaceace4387 Not only that, but it was also cute and satirically clever and comedic! It's not easy to hit all those in addition to 'hauntingly beautiful', in a perfect balance.
Maria Papadopoulou - Pretty sure it's possible to disagree with someone without turning into a hateful little monster. If you love this movie, try not to be like the villains in it. And yeah, I'd say this hate culture that tells people to kill themselves over small and silly disagreements is a lot like the hate culture that springs up in Edward Scissorhands. Not everyone is immune to that kind of crap. Think before you post.
Granddaughter : You *could* have gone up there. You *could* still go. Kim : No, sweetheart. I'm an old woman now. I would rather he *remember* me the way I *was*
Nabiya Ri they thought he was attacking midgets with his last name so he's a street sweeper now. he'll be sweeping plenty of that ice dance dust up round about this tima year but it serves him right! you shouldn't attack little dwarf people! they are equal to humans!
This scene is truly one of a kind. The way the snow mists around everywhere, and how she enters it. How she doesn't dance, but more moves to her fluttering heartbeat. Caressing her face and smiling and enjoying herself. How Edward, oh Edward, the tortured genius focuses only on his craft. Scissoring away. The music. Oh wow. The music. How can we even comprehend it. It is so mesmerizing. This scene makes me cry because of its sheer beauty. Thank you Tim Burton.
This scene makes me always cry. It’s makes me think of the wonder a child has. It makes me think how we are all going to die someday. Everyone I love right now, will die someday. The culture we live in will change. The music and the actors will change. Movies like these will be considered antique. We will all age and we won’t be able to get that time back. I can’t bare the pain of being elderly. Elderly people miss their friends. They miss their movie stars. They miss their time. They miss their parents. Enjoy your life folks. We are all going to end up the same way. Live your life to the fullest.
I've never even touched snow since I was like 5 or more. After watching this beautiful movie and this one scene it's what I've always longed to touch. If I could one day dance in the snow like Kim I'd be bursting put the seams happy.
Rose The Hat these people saying her hair is naturally blonde are bonkers. Photos of her as a kid show her with dark hair, and I’m pretty sure in the film she worse a wig
I don't think I have ever seen a scene so beautiful before. They depicted her happiness and how free she was in that moment. It also depicted his determination to show her how devoted he was to her. I still cry and this could have been done without the music..but the music amplified it for sure.
This is probably the best scene of all time. Young Johnny Depp & Winona Ryder, perfect background music, perfect scene. Even after 3 decades, Edward Scissorhands is still one of the best movies.
Unbelievably beautiful scene. Soft dancing, almost like dancing among the stars, heavenly music, dreamlike visuals that make a moment last forever. This is art, poetry

This is perhaps one of the most iconic scenes in the history of film, I love this scene not only for its beauty but also how she just raises hers arms and takes it in, beautiful scene
It’s been 12 years since i first watched it, and im still obsessed with this. This song/scene has the kind magic i cant explain. Only Tim Burton can create this kind of magic.
As a child, I always hoped to replicate the feeling of Tim Burton's films. I grew up with them, and it's been a joke in my family for years to say I look like Johnny Depp and have a shred of the musical talent Danny Elfman had. I will do you proud, Burton. I promise. One day.
When I first saw this scene as a kid, it was one of the most beautiful things I'd ever seen. I still regard it as one of the most beautiful scenes in any movie ever.
The perfect movement of the camera as Kim literally so gracefully glides into the frame as the music swells at 0:34…. it’s shot in such a way that you feel completely swept away with her into the most dream-like whimsical world of fantasy, beauty and innocence…. it’s truly one of my favourite and most beautiful sequences ever put to film. I need only hear the melody and I can picture this whole thing in my head and naturally every time I see snow I too just want to hear the music in my head and dance away… just getting caught up in the simple beauty of it all… some times things that are real and tangible truly are magical we just need take our time to show and love and wonder for them all… I think that’s what this scene is about more than anything… just stopping to truly soak in the magic and beauty in the simple things in life, yes it’s about her seeing the goodness and beauty in Edward but it’s equally represented in her simple awe for the snow falling. For the first time it’s not just snowfall, but she feels part of a magical world: there’s so much beauty in the world if only we open our eyes to see it…
one of my favorite movies, so funny, so twisted, so moving, sad and so beautyful, this dancing scene is the most iconic and classic scene of a movie, i thing
I feel like she dances and is at peace with this man that no one else understands but she's content with it thus i love and always will love this scene. Not everyone has has to understand a couples love.
This is so magical and touching. Besides, it brings me a lot of childhood memories from Halloween and Christmas time. Thanks to Tim Burton for such a great memory. Amazing how many people's lives you can touch through your work. If he only knew how special this is to me.

just wow..
I'd say the moment she fell in love with him was when he said "because you asked me to".

There was a woman who had this song when she walked down the aisle, It sounds so beautiful and it’s the perfect song for it
