The air is fresh. The views are spectacular. The feeling is bliss. Book your stay today-a careful balance of art, nature, and community. In 1969, Robert Redford bought the land now known as Sundance and envisioned the careful growth of a community committed to the balance of art, nature, and community. Today, Sundance offers an atmosphere steeped in cultural heritage. The 100 cottages nestled at the base of 12,000-foot Mount Timpanogos offer easy access to downhill and cross-country skiing and snowboarding in the wintertime, and mountain biking, fly-fishing, horseback riding, art classes, and, as of recent, the third-longest zip tour in the country during the spring, summer and fall. The award-winning restaurants and spa contribute to the diverse amenities of this quiet mountain village and resort.
''As said by Robert Redford'' - ''People here come from all walks of life, but one belief is shared: our community should represent who we are and what we believe. Sundance is an arts community, a recreational community, a community of people who appreciate nature's beauty and feel responsible for preserving it. We want to help you find those elements of the Sundance experience, which will most meet your needs and dreams. As you'll see, Sundance has many shapes, many moods, and many possibilities. Somewhere in our community awaits an experience that belongs to you, and we are committed to helping you find it.''
Sundance is a Community. Inspired by the Ute tribes that first inhabited this canyon and continued through the early 20th century as the Stewarts, Scottish immigrants homesteaded the area. Sundance is an arts community, a recreational community, a community of people who appreciate nature's beauty and feel responsible for preserving it.
Guests can enjoy various settings, from elegant candlelight dining in the Tree Room to casual dining with an incredible view of 12,000-foot Mount Timpanogos at the Foundry Grill. And don't miss the live entertainment in The Owl Bar, a private club for members, home to a restored 1890s bar once frequented by Butch Cassidy's Hole-in-the-Wall gang. In addition, Sundance has over 10 miles of alpine hiking trails, from meandering forest to steep mountain terrain, with 25+ miles of single-track biking trails. Both hiking and biking trails can be accessed from the lift. State-of-the-art full suspension bikes can be rented at the Mountain Outfitters Shop, and don't forget about private or group instructions.
Philosophy - ''Food as Art'' - At Sundance Mountain Resort, it is believed that food is art, and dining is communal. Enjoy dining integrated with nature-face coverings required on Sundance Property. Once seated for dining, guests may remove face coverings to enjoy food & beverage.
''Tree Room'' - Enjoy the romantic atmosphere of candlelight and soft illumination accenting beautiful Native American art from Robert Redford's private collection as you savor fresh, seasonal mountain cuisine. It all started with a tree in 1970. In 1970, Robert Redford built the first building at Sundance Mountain Resort: The Tree Room, a cabin constructed around an actual tree. Since then, the restaurant has grown but maintains its rustic, intimate atmosphere while serving some of the best cuisines in the area. Decorated with Native American art and pieces from Robert Redford's personal collection. The tables are surrounded by cochina dolls, pottery, large blankets, and photos from Redford's films. Next to the tree is a large fireplace incorporating unique stone/concrete designed made by Robert Redford himself. The building has large windows to facilitate natural lighting and views surrounding nature, especially magical with drifting snow and changing seasons' colors. The dining philosophy incorporates modern French techniques with American comfort in a rustic Western Rocky Mountain setting.
''Foundry Grill'' - The Foundry Grill offers the freshest foods cooked to order for lunch and dinner. The Foundry Grill is not serving breakfast at this time. Instead, all breakfast items will be served through the Sundance Deli. Sundays only, starting at 10 am, a la carte breakfast items will be served. The Foundry Grill allows registered service animals only for both indoor and outdoor dining. Paying Homage to Those Who Came Before- The Foundry Grill's name pays homage to the frontier settlers, farmers, and miners who settled the land. The hearty, down-home seasonal flavors are achieved through cooking techniques centered around the open "Foundry" kitchen.
''Creekside Cafe'' - Take in the spectacular views of 12,000-foot Mt. Timpanogos from Creekside.
