That " metal ring " is a RF choke made of Ferrite material..to stop possible radio frequency interference..you could just break it off with a hammer if you need it gone..it will break / crack like ceramic..
@@HewAndAwe Not sure on the size needed, but there are at least generic replacements available for those ferrite rings, should you notice any undue issues.
I was always told they stopped magnetic flux interference, like they kept signals on the cable they were meant to in computer components. Ya learn new every day, cheers
Festool are seller, back close to 10 years ago you could buy a plug it adapter that can be unscrewed and rewired such a shame that they stopped selling it because it was to effecient
Yeah I remember, it’s sick/twisted of them doing this cause it means all that plastic in land fill. I repurpose the cable cause it’s nice and soft but still 🤦🏻♂️
Nice one m8 but wow suppose 26 quid is better than 600. Oh btw I identify as a pretty below average woodworker. 🤣 Keep videos coming hopefully things are picking up bit m8. Am still at brick wall on sales and growth!🤬🤬 👍🏴
Haha!!! I fucked up this vid was only meant for patrons till next weekend for everyone 🤦🏻♂️ now I’ve gotta find another video to make to keep me on target FFS! If there’s anything I can help you with mate do let me know! Email me though… 👍
@@HewAndAwe aww shit dude that sucks. How about a tips and tricks video. Your a master of ALOT of stuff or a shop tour?? a will m8 thanks but tbh the cliff note version is traffic to the page to then turn into sales and page growth

I think you are too harsh in working with machines. The electronics on the machine suffer if it fails during operation or is overloaded by human power. You say it is $600... how is it for us in third world countries with such overpriced machines, I wonder... ?
Can’t go wrong here. Proper content made in England 👍
Cheers dude, I hope you’re well 🍻🍻🍻
down to earth proper videos
Thank you Anthony!! Hope you’re having a wicked weekend!!! 🍻🍻🍻
Some excellent tips there, all delivered with your trademark sense of humour. More power to you bud.😉
Cheers dude!!! Appreciate you mate!!! 🍻🍻🍻
Informative, concise and entertaining. Last time I thought that 'twas about Stumpy Nubs.
Thank you!
Cheers dude! I’m no fan of him, me and him had a row, then I find him doing exactly what he accused me of, what a spunk bubble!
@@HewAndAwe I didn't know. Sorry to bring him up. It was ignorance and not malice on my part. Whatever the case, I'm really glad I found your channel.

As I’ve said before Ben, love the vids and keep up the great work. I’ve become an apprentice, will support more one I find gainful employment 👍
Cheers dude, I appreciate that mate, it’s very kind of you!!! 🍻🍻🍻
Yea like the cut of your jib there dude, this is a problem I have with my 125 sander so thank you, and stay lucky yourself there
Cheers dude! I hope the motherboard/switch doesn’t go, £130 to buy and it’s soldered in, doable but £130 isn’t gonna happen.
Festool saying in the marketing 10 year limited warranty is this not a warranty problem, festool needs to make it for you working،?
It’s 3 years dude, and they have to keep the parts for everything they make for 10 years I believe. Bloody mother board is £130 quid 😳
Thanks
You’re welcome ☺️
Luckily when i bought mine i got the longer cord, doesn't have this issue,, so far anyway. Great video tho👍
How recently did you buy it dude?
@@HewAndAwe four or five years ago, rotex 150 .

It's better to hard wire the cable to the sander. Rather than replacing the connector.
Not when you’re swapping tools off the one cable all the time it’s not!

"Feststool" ... Ninguno aquí... Demasiado dinero 🤣
To much money here, that’s sander wasn’t 600 quid when I bought it!!!
It sounded you were on drugs of sorts
Oh-cheers 🤦🏻♂️
You can actually open the plug to check or repair the cables!

Here it is shown how you can do it.
they changed the plug a few years ago to a molded plug that isn't repairable anymore

What makes you such an authority on the subject then? You certainly don’t know me nor how I work.
