They don't take back the seats. They just turn off the heated function on the seat. The make the heat switch controlled by software. So, when you press the heat button on the seat, the heat won't turn on unless you buy the subscription.
If the base price is lowered i wouldnt mind tbh. Like if you can only spend 70k and all extras comes to 80k. Then you could skip all extra packages in start to save money, then buy unlimited for a product once you got the cash for it. But im guessing the base price wont be lowered for these cars xD
it is what tesla does with the autopilot...the hardware is there but u need to pay monthly for it to activate. I mean it makes some sense if they would withdraw the cost of that hardware from the buyer but still supply it on the car, for example if the car cost u 3000usd less but u need to pay 18usd monthly to use it. Imagin you live in a warm all year around place where you dont need thoose features but you still get it on the car but dont have to pay for them unless u get a subscription untill u need it.

But in teslas case, autopilot is updated with new data constantly. Bmw’s Heated seats don’t need updates
Autopilot is something driffent it's magical it drives automatic! But heated seats exist for more then 30 years
